Jan’s Amazing Inciting Incident
WIL: to shed light from a different perspective
1. What is the “Inciting Incident” of your series that this pilot needs to deliver powerfully?
2. Give us the main beats of that Inciting Incident:
Intriguing Concept: Oliver’s parents have been murdered and anybody in town could be involved, entangled or placed the order.
Act 1: in the war zone, guarding a transport Oliver looses a teammate, meeting Oliver as interrogator (asking questions) and flying home because his father died, briefly talking to his Mum while boarding a cargo plane
Midpoint: They did not die peacefully, who murdered them and why?
Lock In: Doors are slammed into his face by homicide’s Petra, (he doesn’t even get the keys to the house), by Uncle Hans (pushing for next day because of biz), the banker, secretary of notary (but he paves his way to the notary, who hands him the PoA, which gets him the keys), the general learning about both cases frees Oliver from duties (despite Oliver doesn’t want this), the right wingers mocking German soldiers as pussies. Restless Oliver finds prove that his mother knew that his father feared an over aggressive reaction of the Winds.

KZ’s Amazing Inciting Incident
What I learned doing this assignment is… since each lesson is elevating the concept, to do each one to the best of one’s ability at that moment, and move on, knowing that it will continue to evolve.
1. What is the “inciting incident” of your series that the pilot needs to deliver powerfully?
Oliver must solve the mystery of his true identity, or he will be manipulated into murder.
2. The main beats of that inciting incident:
Intriguing Concept: An amnesiac fights to restore his memory and keep from being set-up by his neighbor as Raymond’s killer.
Act 1 – Surface layer
Oliver has been involved in a clandestine affair with the guy next door, whose partner is a jealous author who seeks revenge through his novels.
Midpoint: Oliver learns that he was in a clandestine affair with Tony, and that Nolan tried to kill him, causing him to wind up in the hospital.
Lock in: Oliver is accused of Raymond’s death and must find the real murderer.

Cat Miggs Amazing Inciting Incident
What I learned doing this assignment is this one stumped me so I ended up just jotting down but I know I have to come back to really hone in more.
Intriguing Concept: Susan is introduced to another world with talking trees and a magical disease is spreading that is killing everything.
Act 1: Susan is presented as the Princess Pan, she smooches her way out of hard task so she can do the simple easy tasks to keep our parks beautiful
Midpoint: Susan gets shot and wakes up to a bullet sitting next to her and the trees start talking to her
Lock In: Susan owes the trees a favor and now has to help them fight a magical disease that is killing everything in it’s path

Like The Joneses’ Amazing Inciting Incident
What I learned doing this assignment is these activities are streamlining the material that will be used for the outline/pilot. The assignments require me to be more specific, and cut out a lot of the fluff.
1. What is the “Inciting Incident” of your series that this pilot needs to deliver powerfully?
Henry blackmails his way into the CEO position, prompting Tony to quit and go work for his father’s nemesis.
2. Give us the main beats of that Inciting Incident:
Intriguing Concept: Tony leaves behind his lowly role at Jones Farmacy and becomes a much sought after force in the cannabis industry.
Act 1: Tony is a figurehead and company man with a big salary but not real responsibility. He may be extremely knowledgeable about cannabis business operations, but his father Willie does not allow him to make any independent decisions. It is his dream to become CEO of Jones Farmacy, the company he and Willie co-founded. Due to some past mistakes, he also has a challenging relationship with his ex-wife, Noelle, and is only allowed supervised visits with his son Chance.
Midpoint: Tony’s cousin Henry arrives in town with proof that Willie used his inheritance to start Jones Farmacy. He threatens to go to the LOCC if Willie does not make him CEO, effective immediately.
Lock In: Willie announces Henry as CEO. This prompts Tony to resign immediately. Pete Roberts, Willie’s long time nemesis, recruits Tony for his company. Tony accepts the VP position at Pete’s cannabis company, Green Diamonds, Jones Farmacy’s biggest competitor.
