KZ’s High Speed Writing Rules
Vision: To master screenwriting, so that I can turn any of my ideas into sellable scripts.
What I learned doing this assignment: That on the first draft, you have to plow ahead even if you don’t have all the answers.
On the first day, I wrote 3 pages. Today, I wrote 10 pages using the High Speed Rules. I did skip over Scene 2, which I wasn’t as excited about, and went right to Scene 3, which I really wanted to write. And once the words were flowing, I just moved on into Scene 4.
I was having some trouble getting started and found myself procrastinating, so I realized I needed to do a little bit of research. Scene 3 is a Strip Poker game, and I don’t know how to play poker. I found a YouTube video that explained 5-card draw. Once I understood the game, it gave me ideas for how to proceed, and after that, it was smooth sailing.

Vision: To write family stories that educate and entertain.
What I learned doing this assignment is writing super fast. I wrote the scene and tried to only concentrate on the speed instead of quality. It was a little hard to me because I like everything to be well done, but I knew that I can go back and improve in future drafts. This was a fun exercise! It was also nice to not worry so much about quality but more about speed.

Paul’s High-Speed Writing Rules.
4. Vision of success from this program: I want to write scripts that become movies that change people’s lives.
3. I was able to reach the 5-page minimum requirement. It was good to feel that I had the Outline to guide me and that means I’m not writing blindly, but within set parameters. Not having the goal of being perfect with the first draft, helped a lot to just get the words down on the page. That process, in itself, I think, provokes new, creative ideas about how the script will develop.
5. What I learned from this assignment is that it took some time to put speed before quality. But I gave myself the page-count target, and that helped.

Raquel’s High-Speed Writing Rules:
Vision: I want to go deeper into my writing to create screenplays where characters of depth are placed in compelling journeys with a fresh voice that Hollywood producers as well as independent film companies know they must make!
<font face=”inherit”>What I learned is it will be ideal to give in to </font>speed<font face=”inherit”> rather than perfection when doing a screenplay. I did the first 3 pages very fast. </font>Having studied history and written many papers I have a tendency to be too wordy in my screenplays which I will limit.
