Alyssa’s Act 1 First Draft Part 1
One Sentence Vision: To be the best writer I can be and a go-to writer in the industry, crafting scripts that become successful movies and make a lasting impact on people.
What I learned from this assignment is…how to stay focused and not go off on tangents or down rabbit holes!
How the process went: It’s going well so far, I’m on page 19 and am realizing that a big chunk of my outline is focused on act one- so I’m curious how the in-story pacing will feel as I get into the meat of act two and if I’m going to have enough to fill 90+ pages overall just with my outline scenes. I’m not going to worry about it too much now since it’s the first draft (focusing on speed!), but I’m curious what the second draft will entail.

Module 5 Lesson 2: High Speed Writing
Marguerite Langstaff: The Billionaire in 501
Vision: I want to learn to write and market movie scripts.
Vision: What I learned doing this assignment was: I anticipate this to be a warm up for the next month of writing.
State/activity: I’m going to be great at the high-speed writing model.
How I used the high-speed writing rules: I depended on these rules to give me permission when I stalled to move on whether the quality was good or not…it seems the quantity of just getting the movie written for the first draft is all-important, so I leaned on these rules. Speed over quality. That’s a great motivator. I just kept moving. It was really easier than I anticipated…all because of the high-speed writing rules. It’s kind of nice knowing I will just delete what’s not very good…or add something I’ve hatched in the meantime. I did have to learn Final Draft 12…but it wasn’t so complicated that that was a relief.

H. Vince’s Act 1 First Draft Part 1
WIM Module 5 – 2023
Lesson 3: Act 1. Write 3-5 Pages a Day
My Vision: I am going to be a professional screenwriter
What I learned from doing this assignment is…
This got a bit confusing because Lesson 3 wouldn’t open until this morning on Screenwritingclasses.com so maybe I’m behind?? I only have 9 pages written so far. Haha! I better speed write more tomorrow.
TITLE: DREAM VACATION
WRITTEN BY: H. Vince
GENRE: DRAMA/THRILLER
HIGH CONCEPT: When a retired couple finally take their dream vacation, the husband starts showing signs of rapid dementia and leaves his wife in distress in a foreign country.

WIM Module 5, Lesson 3
Lenore Bechtel’s Act 1 First Draft Part 1
My vision: I want to create enough salable screenplays that an agent will want to market my work and recommend me for writing assignments.
What I learned from doing this assignment is that speed writing has put me way ahead of what’s expected for this assignment.
I reported that I finished Act One—the assignment for this lesson 3—in lesson 2. Now I am finished with Act Two, plus the first heading for Act Three. I like to end a day’s writing with something left undone, so I know exactly where to start the next day.
The assignment to write 3-5 pages a day seems amusing to me. I consider that many pages just a warmup. My first act was 22 pages. Yesterday I wrote 14 pages, getting to page 37. I finished today on page 53, and am thinking I’m probably going to end up having to cut a lot.
Tomorrow I have the full day to write, and I expect to finish Act Three. I’m so glad I like following the speed writing rules. I expected it to be harder for this customary “search-for-the-best-word” person, but I do look forward to the rewrite when I’ll welcome doing just that.

BRIAN BULL – Act 1 First Draft Part 1
VISION!!!
My ultimate goal is to get my scripts from my hands to the SILVER SCREEN!!“What I learned from doing this assignment is…
I had the my Act 1 outline transferred over to script form so today I worked on some of the details to “beef” it up.ASSIGNMENT
I went back and added some more to my ACT 1 as far as dialogue and scene action. I added some good stuff, I think. I did have a breakthrough with John cutting his hand with the knife his dad gave him prompting his dad to question if John is too young for this breaking John’s heart.

Veronica Turowski’s Act 1 First Draft Part 1
My Vision: I want to be a successful writer who writes several scripts yearly and then sells them to producers who create my vision for the big screen.
What I learned from doing this assignment is I have some dialogue that I’m not sure how to word, so I had to look into what happens in a séance and what a clairvoyant would say. That slowed me down, but I am going to keep going through the process aiming for speed, not perfection. I love the process, but it’s hard for me to not do research to get an idea of what type of dialogue to use when I don’t have a clue for the scenario.

Module 5 Lesson 3: High Speed Writing
Lloyd Shellenberger: Letters from Baghdad
Vision: Working hard every day to become the best writer I can be and as a result I do become the best writer in Hollywood.
Vision: What I learned doing this assignment was: I worked on pushing through the first scene and did not word smith which I am proud of myself for doing
State/activity: I’m going to be great at the high-speed writing model.
The first act is written with a few adjustments on my rough draft.

Margaret’s Act 1 First Draft Part 1
Vision: To be the best faith-based screenwriter.
What I learned from doing this process: I can do high-speed writing but I can’t stop myself from correcting the unintentional spelling errors that immediately flag for me. I find myself starting the second day rereading the first 5 pages and correcting blatant errors before starting the next high-speed writing session. I’m doing ok at not trying to make it perfect first time through, but I have to keep reminding myself this is high-speed writing time.

Melissa Barreca’s Act 1 First Draft Part 1
My vision: Melissa Barreca is one of the most sought after writers in the movie industry because of the artistry of her writing, professionalism and exceptional ability to tell important, entertaining, joyful, and heartbreaking stories that inspire audiences and become legendary classics.
What I learned from doing this assignment is…? Please tell us how you used the High Speed Writing Rules and any insights you had about writing a first draft.
I’m having a great time writing this and look forward to sitting down to work on it. The rules are helping me to not sweat the details and just see what dialogue and descriptions show up as I ponder the scenes in my outline. I’m not really loving all of the dialogue and there are holes that need to be filled, but not really worried about that since that is part of the process. In some cases, I am just writing things that are kind of silly to amuse myself when I am not sure what is “the perfect thing” for that scene. The best part is the progress made daily. It keeps motivation high and a sense of accomplishment. Keep plugging away.

Adrienne Watkins- Act 1 First Draft Module 5 Lesson 3
My Vision: I am going to work as hard as I reasonably am able to succeed at script writing to be recognized by multiple movie producers as a skilled script writer, and to have my scripts produced worldwide.
What I learned from doing this assignment is to be content with 30 percent and focus on outline character action, structure, and dialogue.
I like high-speed writing because it forces me to visualize characters personalities, emotions, and how each interacts with the other.
