Tony J. Scott Transformational Journey
My true vision as a writer is to fall in love with writing and stay motivated to write from the love of writing and not as a chore and then hoping others will love my creations and become well known as a top writer in the screenplay community.
I learned that the main characters need to evolve into something better or worse than how they started so the audience can connect to them.
Arc Beginning: Najah Blackman a sickly insecure 21 year old black history major.
Arc Ending: fulfills the prophecy of becoming the one who brings an end to the Vatican/Vampire wars.
Internal journey: from a sickly girl who hates who she is to a strong proud and confident world leader.
External journey: From time traveling to kill her ancestor to protecting him and joining him to kill his enemies and bringing peace to the future world.
Old Ways:
· Unaware of her family history
· Hating herself and everything her and her family represent.
· Determined to kill her ancestor
· Average student
· Ashamed of herself and her family
· No friends
· Shy and secluded lifestyle
· Sickly and dying
New Ways:
· Graduates with honors
· Proud and sure of herself
· Loves who she is.
· Loves her heritage.
· Protects her ancestor
· Fighting for a cause
· Courageous.
· Victorious.
· Healthy

Subject Line: Claudia’s Transformational Journey
My vision: To become the best screenwriter I can be, and to find success in the industry.
What I learned from doing this assignment is that starting with these big picture concepts gives me a much better idea of how to structure the screenplay – along with ideas for some great scenes.
Grace’s Character Arc:
· Arc Beginning: Obedient, insecure woman who thinks people in positions of authority know better than her.
· Arc Ending: Confident, independent woman who thinks for herself.
Grace’s Internal/External Journey.
· Internal Journey: From unquestioning of authority to thinking for herself.
· External Journey: From a woman who does what she is told to a woman willing to defy societal norms to be with the man she loves.
Grace’s Old Ways at the beginning of the movie and New Ways at the end.
· Old Ways:
· Blindly obedient to others (parents, the Church, men)
· Assumes others know more than her
· Afraid to “rock the boat”
· Deeply concerned about how others view her
· New Ways:
· Will fight for what is right
· Trusts her own judgment
· Courageous
· Willing to defy societal norms – in love, friendship and the role of women

I love the link here between confidence and not being as swayable by darkness. Nice!

My Vision: I want a space that is dedicated to writing, so I can have an entire wall for notecard storyboarding. I want my projects to advance in competitions and then be requested by the studios. I want to see those projects in festivals, in theaters, on streaming platforms. I want writing and producing to be my full time job.
What I learned doing this assignment is that I’m super pumped about writing this story. I can see images in the future arc, all I have to do is fill in the blanks and the mind will take over when it comes time to flesh out the story.
Protagonist: Eddie
Arc beginning: working class casual recreational drug user.
Arc ending: Exposes institutional drug trade.
Internal Journey: Insecure to confident.

-
Will Jennings: Transformational Journey
My Vision: I will write movies that are extremely funny and entertaining that bring a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment to a world starving for true enjoyment.
What I learned from doing this assignment is how to select the psychical and psychological aspects that make a character develop.
Arc Beginning: Completely fearful of going to an untamed plant of complete lunatics.
Arc Ending: Very sophisticated in influencing classmates to their point of view.
Internal Journey: From scared stiff to skillful and ingenious.
External Journey: From little daughters to influential companions.
Old Ways: Sniffling and cowardly.
Refusing to compare the real world to going to a camp.
Totally nervous in the portal transportation room.
Naïve in the local school’s customs.
New Ways: Can lift the spirits of depressed children.
Willing to confront school authority for the greater good.
Can act as matchmakers to their elders.
Fantastic
party planners.-
This sounds really fun. 🙂 I’m so curious, what makes them get in a portal and come to Earth in the first place?

MY VISION: By nurturing fun and curiosity in the writing process, I will do my very best to create a successful writing career full of love, full of awe, full of productivity, and full of joy!
What I learned doing this assignment is how quickly and simply the shape of a story can take form this way.
