Outlining Process

Episode 1: An assassin kills an infamous pedophile being released from prison. RCMP Janice Williams (34) is recruited for a task force to hunt down the killer. Intro to Janice. Intro to priest. The killing of crooked Judge.

Episode 2: Janice and teamwork St. Chris case. Vigilante kills Halyard on Nova Scotia. Super with Laura, Janice breaks down. Talk about dreams. Janice finds out that Halyard been killed.

Episode 3: Vigilante kills Jehovah Witness Elders in Winnipeg. Janice and the team make a break in the St. Chris case. Warrants issued. Janice travels to Sudbury. Vigilante kills priest.

Episode 4: Janice attends church. Deal with boy. Finds bodies, and deal with parents. PTSD debriefing with Laura and 1^st responders.

Episode 5: Janice fills the task force in on vigilante’s history and IT scan of department computers. News release. Forbes, Kilgour, and Janice review past case files. Decision to set a trap for Vigilante. Warrants to get manifest documents for traveling to cities where killing took place.

Episode 6: Grismour. Vigilante kills Judge. Then sets a trap for Grismour. Grismour escapes the fire trap. Laura breaks down to Janice over suicides.

Episode 7: Naked child found in a snowdrift in Northern Quebec First Nations Reserve. Resulting investigation. Laura attends for PTSD debriefing of RCMP and town occupants. Manifest arrives and Janice assigns Jamie to go through files.

Episode 8: Find similar cases in U.S. Empty office: Jamie’s report says nothing found. Meets with Director of Canadian to check on dates and cities where his people attended to see if there was a match. Supper with Laura – breakdown, Laura is taking a break from her practice because of suicides.

Episode 9: Update Minister. Jamie accuses Janice of ignoring his report. Find that the document has been altered. Janice’s computer has been hacked. Janice reads the original summary to find a name she recognizes. Susan Danton. Laura’s long dead sister of suicide due to date rape. Laura is the vigilante!

Episode 10: Janice meets with Laura. Finds out the reason. APB on Laura. Janice and Kilgour go to Amos Quebec, where native child abuser is standing trial. Laura in Victoria, BC kills major pornographer. Laura sends bribery information to the press and a demand for the government to strengthen child crime laws.

Episode 11: They transport the Native pedophile to Montreal for prison term and Laura kills him. Minister suspends Janice and Kilgour and looks to fire them. Grismour kidnaps Janice.

Episode 12: Laura fights Grismour and wins. Janice in hospital, Forbes and Kilgour pick her up. Laura escapes across St. Lawrence river to United States. Meets with Forbes, Kilgour, and Janice. Finds out about kill order. Epilog: Laura on a tropical beach with Janice – next target, Europe.

What did I learn doing this assignment, even though I have these books as my source material, I have decisions to make regarding how each season plays out, what to include in the first season, versus leaving for season two, three, etc.

1. Beginning to end of season one, cliffhanger

Question “A”: Begins with the Furies taking out targets and Dan’s niece being murdered, then the serial killer is dispatched by Tisiphone.

Question “B”: The release of Sorath, building shaking, monster unleashed.

2. Mystery Set-up

Question “A”: Initial mystery – who are these goddesses?

• How can Dan see these goddesses when they don’t want anyone to see them?

Question “B”: Present the goddesses on missions, with violence, and wings

Question “B-1”: Initial murder, followed by another murder, with a revelation mid-way, but what is possessing him?

Question C: Clues lead cops to identity of serial killer, but also clues as to how the Furies operate

3. Journey begins – then peaks…

Question “A”: Dan being himself, can’t believe in a god, much less a trio of goddesses.

Question “B”: Even with Megaera explaining and showing what she is, Dan still thinks he’s crazy. Or that he’s been drugged.

4. Layers…. Upon layers…. Hidden between layers.

Question “A”: I’ve discovered the following layers:

• Dan is pretty predictable until he’s face-to-face with mythological beings he swears do not exist.
• Megaera is a ruthless avenging goddess, but wears pink, and bunny slippers, and has a soft spot for cute animals.
• Gaia is all knowing, except she ignores too much, and can’t keep plants alive in her garden.

Question “B”: And some more layers:

• Dan has backstory with reporters.
• Dan witnessed his mother’s murder
• Megaera falls for a mortal, is this another weakness?

5. Major storylines

Question “A”:

• Murder of Brianna pushes Dan to solve the crime, but what of the strange symbols used in the murders?
• Romance between Dan and Megaera, which will have consequences.

Question “B”:

• The demon’s plans to kill the Furies and take over Tartarus.
• Brianna’s ghost is stuck, so her journey begins learning about herself.
• History of these goddesses, how they operate.

• Episode 1: “Cleanup on Aisle Sixteen” – Open with Tisiphone killing a target, then introduce Dan during a standoff in a grocery store, followed by Alecto on a mission.
• Episode 2: “Someone is Off Their Meds” Discovery of Brianna’s mutilated body, Dan introduced to Furies
• Episode 3: Megaera confronts Dan, Brianna’s ghost meets Thanatos
• Episode 4: Kyle Banks, FBI, talks to Dan and Jones about the killer, Megaera shows up unannounced for a dinner date with Dan.
• Episode 5: Brianna’s ghost meets Furies, Gaia concerned about sigils on the girl’s soul, Brianna learns Furies can only go after murders between family members.
• Episode 6: Kyle Banks, revealed to be the killer, stalks another woman, and Megaera takes Dan on a “tour” of ancient temples.
• Episode 7: Discovery of second victim, Dan questions department shrink if he’s crazy.
• Episode 8: Cop’s funeral, Brianna and Alecto close in on killer’s first victim, his cousin, while Dan finds Megaera has practically moved in.
• Episode 9: Brianna and Alecto locate and contact the killer’s first victim, who then formally asks Furies to deal with him, all while Gaia finds out the god, Hades, has gone missing.
• Episode 10: Tisiphone grabs Kyle, takes him out, releasing Sorath, Dan sees Megaera is in full Fury-Mode with her wings out when Sorath appears in Dan’s House.

What I learned from this: With the shift to 2-day assignments I fell behind and gave up posting to save time while trying to follow the lessons (excellent!) and keep pondering story possibilities. I appreciate the encouragement to get something down and make changes later.

Episode 3 She visits Grandpa, who fears the Great Tribulation. She has nightmares of hell. She is angry that the Gideons minimize women as an auxiliary, but she accompanies them to jail and witnesses to an inmate accused of killing her husband.

Episode 4 Inspired by a new pastoral couple, She tries to convert her classmates’ rabbi.

Believing she needs a man of God, she discovers she has a sudden crush on Phil and applies to the Ivy League college across the street from his seminary in New York City.

Episode 5 Professors Ursula and Reinhold Niebuhr introduce her to the Black Civil Rights Movement. She is surprised that he has a pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket. He later signs his book for her and pours her first glass of wine.

Episode 6 After Anne escapes a sexual assault; she decides to call Phil and invite him to lunch. He offers her a cooking job – something she hates to do, but she accepts it.

Episode 7 An old classmate of Phil’s and would-be boyfriend of Anne’s with racist ideas visits her in the city with a gun and is startled to learn they are engaged.

Episode 8 Anne knows she is out of her depth with Phil, but she convinces him to marry her and sets in motion an improbable relationship before they leave for his year abroad at Cambridge University.

What I learned is by using the process and creating building blocks, the episodes become much easier to outline. Again, for me, it is about staying at a big picture level and not delving into the scenes as ideas come.

OUTLINING PROCESS

As you go thru the process, allow yourself to fill in the things that come to you, and don’t stress about the rest. Once you have some answers filled in, many of the others will just show up.

I. Use the above questions to mine the BW Framework for episode ideas. List your answers.

(2) From that list, brainstorm possible ideas for episodes (without fleshing them out).

(3) Sequence the episode ideas. You know where the season begins and where it ends, so those will be your Episode 1 and Episode 10. Then look to see what episodes might emerge in between 1 and 10.

Act 5 – Girl’s night out: V & Lori, get jumped in café parking lot after dinner by 2 thugs.

Act 6 – Caleb senses trouble, teleport to cafe, stops time. Wrecks the thugs, Lori & Victoria do not see a thing. Caleb puts them in V’s car, then restarts time…V smells his cologne

Episode 10 Vanities of Man

Teaser – Caleb learns from Cindy he got her pregnant; they’re Necro, twins. He leaves her

Act 1 – Victoria goes to Caleb’s, makes love | Annabelle sends Olivia to sex Caleb | Caleb discovers the pocket watch’s magic | Olivia questions Sherry, then goes & seduces Richard.

Act 2 – Caleb dreams of Olivia seducing & killing him. He teleports off | Daphne raids the vegan’s Montana compound, no one’s there | Annabelle at her home, visits Riwyee, they agree on Alexis being the key | Alexis at her dad’s coffee shop, agents watching the place.

Act 3 – Jenkins w/ wife freaking out over botched mission. | Charles, 7 yr old boy, we see Riwyee curse him | Jenkins in hot-tub w/ wife who is a Feeder| Earlier, we see Gwen taking Tammy over in bath tub, killing her and assuming her form.

Act 4 – Feeder kills Jenkins | Bruce in Miami tries to sell the portal idea to drug-dealer | Alexis gets msg Jenkins is dead, breaks the news to the group. Rudy reminisces openly

Act 5 – Caleb teleports naked into café break room, steals clothes | starts working | Bruce & Rudy talk re: technology of Alexis. Rudy will steal it, it’ll cost Bruce $2million | Back at café, Caleb plays guitar for them: heals hurts, erases pain, heals memories.

Act 6 –Caleb recalls
playing at a City park, giving away too much. V finds him fried in his bedroom |
Back to café, Caleb senses the assassin. He stops time, leaves assassin a note,
takes her wallet and leaves… Caleb is being hunted by a professional assassin

Yes, Caleb’s secret relationship with Lyderia after (her sister) Rachael dies, turns dark. She is an elemental, has her own secret agenda for earth and its inhabitants. Caleb has no idea he is an elemental – a product of his mother’s art, a masterpiece and represents creativity. Lyderia has no use for humans, Necromancers, Splinter beings or Feeders.

Old Toms School on the last day of the academic year. The handbell clanks many times at 13:30 to signal the end of the school day.

Ishey Garfunk, a fifth former, and all the student stops whatever they are doing and hurry to the school chapel. Ishey is standing on the terrace and, together with six hundred students, sings the final hymn.

STARTING:

Ishey Garfunk completes five years of secondary education at Old Toms. Ishey meets Brader Hu in the foyer of Cameo Cinema after the film show and joins a cluster of movie-goers who live outside the military barracks and walk home together. Ishey inquires about a job from Hu and asks what work he does.

ENDING: Ishey leaves his birthplace and crosses two francophone countries to seek opportunities in a third country called Black Gold.

Season 2: BLACK GOLD

STARTING: Ishey is in the La houses and neighborhood. He looks at his girlfriend’s family house and his last paycheck and decides not to tell her he is traveling. Ishey thinks he won’t stay and destroy himself if he can’t find a job. He altered his course towards the Aflao lorry station.

ENDING: Ishey returns to his birthplace with nothing but personal clothes after ten years’ stay. He holds a promise to get to Europe and is shat down as ‘Shit Sticks’ by friends and Old Tom.

Season 3: MONEY COUNTERS

STARTING: Ishey start Technician training.

ENDING: Ishey exchanges a vow with his sweetheart of many years in a lavish wedding ceremony and jetted off to the UK.

Mystery: Two women, the President AC and her Second-In-Command Loveday Sebastian of The Do-wells Organization have come to the Trade Fair Center just as it opened to the public.

The women are casually dressed and should draw no attention to the covert mission in search of Talents. The women know what to find except that the unemployed men looking for jobs around the many long vehicles parked inside could be Kung Fu Talents. Ferdinand Chopstones keeps one of the job seekers as his henchman. Hu finds AC attractive and wants her to himself.

Mystery Set Up: AC and Loveday are looking for Talents to recruit into their organization. Their mission is coveted and they entered the Trade Fair Center minutes after the opening time. They know one of Chopstones’ henchmen is an abled Kung Fu thug. They have information he frequents the Center for livelihood.

What I learned doing this assignment is that this is the most fun I’ve had yet — and I’ve been having some fun.

THE CHEAT SHEET

Beginning… Season End/Cliffhanger

Beginning of the season: Golden City thrives as city-state on a prosperous trade route in the Mughal Empire. Given good King Abzar’s economic policy, people of any class can prosper — unless you’re female, and your prosperity depends on your male relatives. An oddly educated female orphan, Charita, believes she can create her own path.
End of the season: The king is assassinated and Charita goes on the run with Queen Vanhi and the infant Crown Prince
Cliffhanger: What’s going to happen to Golden City, the Queen, the Crown Prince, to Charita and her plans
for independence, to Charita’s secret fiancé? How can a low-born female have any impact on the history unfolding?

2. Season 1 Mystery Set up….. Season 1 Mystery Solved

What is the mystery? Who killed the king? Why?
How set up? King Abzar, while popular, had enemies — he controls a wealthy city-state on a trade route. Agriculture and textiles are exported. Portuguese want land. Chinese don’t want to pay Mughal taxes, some Mughal interests are jealous of his wealth, his cousin Rajendra, raised to be his successor, is supplanted when he gets remarried and has a son. Other interests?
What parts will be left out that must be solved? Many could prosper from his demise, but who actually did it?
What it the ultimate solution that the characters must work to discover? The sudden shift in power may be decoy for what’s really happening. In the meantime, a woman has to survive, but Charita wants more — she wants vengeance and to restore the Prince and Queen Regent to the throne.

3. Journey begins…… Journey peaks, but continues.

Lead Character journey begins: A low-born female with no living male relatives finds herself in the affluent Golden City court favored by Queen Vanhi; Queen Vanhi plans to arrange an advantageous marriage; Charita wants to chart her own course
Lead Character journey ends for this season: Forced to run when Rajendra returns from exile to take the throne, Charita’s quest for self-determination goes into overdrive. Determined to restore the Infant Prince to the throne with Queen Vanhi as regent, she takes a dangerous job as a spy for the Amir, a politically connected Mughal.
Where does this character go in future seasons: Charita travels to the four corners of the Empire working for the Amir, but she has her own agenda — to restore the infant Crown Prince to the Golden City throne, to be united with her love, Jagger, and to have the means to be autonomous.

Anala, a powerful member of the royal family, knows Veer’s secret. When Abzar dies, Veer has a claim to the throne.
Anala and Veer had a past relationship, but she’s married now.
Charita is in love with the musician / soldier Jagger, but Queen Vanhi doesn’t approve.
Rajendra was raised to be Abzar’s heir, but was replaced when the king decided to marry Vanhi and had a son.
Bhadrabahu, often dismissed as an opium-using bon vivant, operates an empire-wide spy network.
Bhad is in love with Vanhi. She’ll use that.
Everyone assumed Rajendra was responsible for the assassination. He wasn’t.
Queen Vanhi has a history in Mughal court — she plans to leverage it for allies, but many in Golden City (Anala) won’t like her past.
Bhad is caught between his high-stakes spy work and protecting his father. His father disowned him when he went to work for the Mughals. His father makes a point of pissing them off.

Other possible:

When Charita, goes rogue and becomes a spy for the Amir, Vanhi will demand that Bhad keep her safe. How will this affect her leverage.
Rajendra framing Charita as a jewel thief. He already has a theft habit and he’s really good.
Damyanti, a prostitute, wants to leave Golden City and become a tawaif in Mughal court.
Damyanti makes friends with Veer, plays this against Anala to get what she wants.
Rajendra becomes Damyanti’s client — is she spying for Veer or spying for Rajendra.
Veer, once respected as a law enforcer, must make black market deals to support his wilderness army. He discovers he has a knack for it.
Is Veer fighting for the infant prince or for himself?

Episodes (8 to 13)

Epi 1 — Beginning of the season: Who does she think she is? Low-born woman, Charita, attempts to create her own wealth.

Epi 2 — Found and Lost. The child is found safe, but relationships are broken

Epi 3 — The kidnapping was a decoy for theft — confidential documents and crown jewels.

Epi 4 — Veer scrambles to understand the security breech, while an invisible force frames Charita. King Abzar is assassinated.

Epi 5 — Return of the King — Rajendra re-emerges with a force behind him and assumes the throne. He arrests and condemns Veer, while Charita scurries the Queen and infant Prince into hiding.

Epi 6 — Rajendra seeks to solidify his reign. He condemns Veer and closes in on the Queen and the infant.

Epi 7 — Veer is freed by unexpected rescuers and a small army of fighting me follow him into the wilderness. The Queen, infant Prince and Charita slip out of the city with the help of a controversial friend.

Epi 8 — Charita makes a deal with the Amir to be his spy in exchange for protection of the queen and prince. The queen believes the deal was unnecessary — she has her own allies in Mughal court, but Charita has her own agenda.

Epi 2

Chaos envelops the city as the general launches massive man-hunt for the child.
King Abzar blames the usually competent General Veer. How did they get in? And slaughter his own men?
Queen Vanhi blames exiled Prince Rajendra, the king’s former heir and cousin. She becomes paranoid about who in the Palace Fort is still loyal to him.
Anala, the king’s cousin, confidant and power-broker, suspects Mughal interference or other outside forces — but they must have had inside help. She suspects the Queen.
Anala finds the child, safe, in Charita’s quarters.

Epi 3

Charita is thrown in the dungeon, but the king releases her almost immediately. Queen Vanhi attests to her innocence.
Charita secretly begins her own investigation.
Seeds of distrust are planted between Queen Vanhi and Anala. Anala dares to overlook a long grudge against General Veer, to ask him to employ his spies to watch Charita. Anala overlooked the fact that Queen Vanhi was formerly a Mughal courtesan because of the Crown Prince, but now wants to know more.
The king discovers that confidential documents were taken during the chaos surrounding the search, Queen Vanhi discovers that precious gems were stolen.
Anala finds the gems in Charita’s quarters.

Epi 4

Anala demands that Charita be incarcerated. The king refuses.
Allegations and whispers emerge linking the once respected and trusted Veer to the crimes.
Anala assures all that Veer is innocent. Veer tells Anala that Charita is innocent.
Veer scrambles to understand the security breech.
Charita finds out from local prostitute Damyanti that Rajendra knows all the secret passes in the Palace Fort. She brings the woman to Veer.
Veer is astounded how much info Damyanti has about how to breech the Palace Fort. Soldiers have enabled her to sneak in from every corner.
King Abzar is assassinated.

Epi 5

Shocked and grieved, General Veer puts his most trusted Royal Guard around the Queen and Crown Prince.
Almost magically from within the Palace, exiled Rajendra and his Strong Men, return apparently with all Gen Veer’s security secrets.
Stripping Veer of his title, Rajendra imprisons Veer as a traitor, accusing him of Abzar’s assassination.
Charita hurriedly pulls Queen Vanhi and the infant prince into hiding.
Anala acknowledges Raj as king. He’s suspicious of her, but he’ll take it.

Epi 6

Rajendra condemns Veer to death.
Charita fears for her love Jagger—one of Veer’s loyal soldier—as she tries to find a way to smuggle the queen and infant out of the city.
Charita takes them to the prostitute, Damyanti, to hide.
Rajendra tells Anala that he means no harm to the Queen or her baby. Anala goes and talks to Damyanti.
Charita pretends to be tawaif and negotiates with the Mughals to get her “family” out of Golden City. She uses the jewels that she did not steal originally, but now she has.
Many soldiers remain loyal, but when some try to assist Veer in a jail break, they are quickly killed in front of his eyes.

Epi 7

Anala, with the help of the prostitute Damyanti, succeeds in rescuing Veer.
He begs her to come with him as he flees to the wilderness. She refuses, convincing him that she has not blown her cover.
In the wilderness, many AWOL soldiers join Veer. Other non-soldiers, rejecting Rajendra’s rule — nobles and criminals — go to the wilderness to join Veer. He quickly amasses a rogue army — or is it a band of thieves?
Charita bargains with the Mughal Amir. Suddenly, Bhadrabahu shows up to get the queen, the prince and Charita out of Golden City to a Mughal-controlled city (Lucknow?). Bhad and the queen have a history — both good and bad — more on that later.

Epi 8

Rajendra demands to know how Veer escaped. Anala diverts suspicion by blaming one of his own henchmen. Raj kills the man viciously in front of her.
Rajendra realizes that Golden City is not embracing him as a benevolent leader — Anala pledges to help him change his image.
Charita continues to negotiate with the Amir for protection of the queen and prince.
Veer plans revenge, as Anala finds a way to communicate with him (via Damyanti).
The queen tells Charita that she has her own allies in Mughal court, but Charita makes a deal to spy for the Empire in exchange for help (and gold). Charita has her own agenda.

What I learned doing this assignment is how to create more readily integrated story lines that can grow and integrate in complexity, intensity, intrigue, and meaning.

His guilt trip caused him to resign, marry Yardas, and buy a farm to give Desae a section where he could secretly look out for her.
Other layers grow out of these concerning the computer scientist and a doctor who eventually become confidants at risk to themselves.

Season 1: “My Strange New World”
Ep-1: 6.2 Lightyears from Home: Mike gets stranded on Romal. Desae saves Mike, nurses him to health, and hides him from authorities. Hook: Mike awakens to find himself being cared for by Desae.

Ep-2: Desae of Romal
Mike meets her 2-year-old son, Nome. Expose of Romal strange world, culture, humanoid people.
Hook: Amixmu comes to find the “alien invader!”

Ep-3: Making Enemies
Amixmu the Security Force leader searches the crash site securing Mike’s ship to include HAL. He follows Desae’s tracks to her farm and questions her as Nome hides Mike. After Amixmu leaves, Mike’s would is opened from hiding and Desae peals some of her own skin to patch him. They begin their learning of each other… Hook, “Take me to the crash site, I need HAL.”

Ep-4: The Empty Crash
The ship is gone but they retrieve the broken landing gear and store it in the hiding place they built. Nome sings a “togetherness” song. They cover their tracks.
Hook: Desae’s neighbor Yardas drops in unexpectedly!

Ep-5: Making Friends
Intro Yardas, eccentric best friend to Desae. They visit Yardas home meeting her husband Ben who appears to be a dullard. He takes the presence of the alien too easily, seemingly mor interested in Desae’s well-being. Hook: Ben is familiar with who Amixmu is!

Ep-6: Compare & Contrast
Mike & Desae compare cultures, food, etc. between Romal & Earth. Mike begins to show her pictures on his cell phone he had in his space suit pocket. She makes him a typical Romalian smock out of plant blooms. They laugh a lot, realizing similarities in humanoid nature. As they begin to realize they are falling in love, the subject of reproduction comes up, making things awkward.
Hook: They find themselves just staring into each other’s eyes.

Ep-7: Nome the Teacher
While Desae works the farm Nome teaches Mike all about life on Romal from a child’s simplified perspective. He shows Mike Romalian TV, sports, music, communications, trigital devices, etc.
Hook: Nome tells Mike that Desae believes he was sent to her by Logard (God).

Ep-8: Inventors and Innovations
Mike learns about Romali Tech and finds innovative ways to fix Desae’s tractor. Amixmu visits again looking for the alien and notices the strange way Mike fixed Desae’s tractor. She quickly invents a story of how she thought of it, but he’s still suspicious.
Hook: “I’ll be back.”

Ep-9: ET Phone Home
They set up warning system to know when Amixmu is on the way. Mike finds a way to recharge his phone & shows Desae his family etc. She makes insightful observations about Mike’s feelings causing him to break down and cry.
Hook: Someone is looking in the window.

Ep-10: Apprehending Appreciation
The peeping Tom turns out to be Ben. Ben tries to hide the fact that he’s been looking out for Desae all along but this makes his actions present and past more suspicious. He heads home leaving them to dispute what to do. Desae tells Mike about her betrothed and the secret believers meeting and how it was raided by Amixmu’s men killing her betrothed, leaving her to have a child out of wedlock, thus cause for exile under Romali law.
The Amixmu warning goes off and Both Mike and Desae run to hide and see that is it Ben returning.
Hook: The warning sounds again leaving Ben to speak with Amixmu.

Ep-11: The Heist Plan
They do not know that Ben does not rat them out, rather he misleads Amixmu with the same story that Desae had told him. As things cool off, they plot with Yardas to steal HAL from the Museum. At home Ben swears Yardas to secrecy that he can help their plan with inside info on the security system etc. Desae and Yardas dress Mike mostly covered like as an elderly Romali in an ambulator and take him to the Alien Invasion Museum where they learn the computer, HAL, was removed and brought to a computer lab in the back. They meet the planet’s best computer expert who has been analyzing it to no avail, but he cannot let them into the lab. He keeps glancing at the elderly Romali in the ambulator.
Hook: As soon as they leave, we see him speaking to Amixmu.

Ep-12: “HAL May I Help You?”
Returning to the Museum at night, they break into the lab not noticing that the scientist is still there. He confronts them and a very unusual conversation ensues between him and Desae and Yardas who try to avoid disturbing the “sleeping elderly Romali” in the ambulator. However the scientist is about to call the Security Guards so Mike reveals himself to stop him knowing his scientific curiosity will overtake him. This leads to an even more bazar conversation between them. After the scientist comes to the conclusion that he can get more out of Mike if he were captured, he decides to sound the alarm, but…
Hook: HAL speaks for the first time in perfect Romali, “Major Barrington, is there anything I can do to help your situation.”
