    Alyssa’s Next Act 1 Scenes

One Sentence Vision: To be the best writer I can be and a go-to writer in the industry, crafting scripts that become successful movies and make a lasting impact on people.

How it’s going: I’ve finished act one which is exciting and am moving on to act two. There are a few scenes that I’ll have to flesh out more since I’m breezing over the more technical parts so I don’t stall out. Moving forward, staying focused (mostly) and appreciating the outline road map to keep me on track for this first pass- even though I’m making lots of notes on what I want to improve/add/change on the next draft!

Veronica Turowski’s Next Act 1 Scenes

My Vision: I want to be a successful writer who writes several scripts yearly and then sells them to producers who create my vision for the big screen.

What I learned from doing this assignment is I enjoy speed writing. I still find myself wanting to perfect my writing, but I make it a point to stop it. I did go back when I decided out how to kill off a character without making it look like the guy who was with him murdered him.

    WIM Module 5, Lesson 4

Lenore Bechtel’s Next Act 1 Scenes

My vision: I want to create enough salable screenplays that an agent will want to market my work and recommend me for writing assignments.

What I learned from doing this assignment is that I truly enjoy writing at high speed, knowing I’ll be coming back later to improve everything I can.

Today I completed Act Three and started Act Four. It’s getting harder to follow my outline because I think of things I’d like to include. So far, I’ve restrained myself, and even so, I think I’ll probably end up with too many pages.

I feel I should change this assignment’s title from Lenore Bechtel’s New Act 1 Scenes, to Lenore Bechtel’s completion of Act 3 and start of Act 4. Anyway, that’s what I accomplished today, and stopped with a scene heading for working tomorrow.

    WIM Module 5, Lesson 4

Lloyd Shellenberger Next Act 1 Scenes

My vision: Working hard everyday to become the best writer I can be and as a result I do become the best writer in Hollywood.

Today, I completed Act one and started on Act two. I find I missed a-lot in the opening outline and I am forced to add scenes but I am keeping the wordiness to a minimal. I was warned not to write a novel.

Will post more as I go along.

Module 5 Lesson 2: High Speed Writing

Marguerite Langstaff: The Billionaire in 501

Vision: I want to learn to write and market movie scripts.

Vision: What I learned doing this assignment was: I anticipate this to be a warm up for the next month of writing.

State/activity: I’m going to be great at the high-speed writing model.

How I used the high-speed writing rules: I depended on these rules to give me permission when I stalled to move on whether the quality was good or not…it seems the quantity of just getting the movie written for the first draft is all-important, so I leaned on these rules. Speed over quality. That’s a great motivator. I just kept moving. It was really easier than I anticipated…all because of the high-speed writing rules. It’s kind of nice knowing I will just delete what’s not very good…or add something I’ve hatched in the meantime. I did have to learn Final Draft 12…but it wasn’t so complicated that that was a relief.
