Lynn’s Next Act 1 Scenes
VISION: I am determined to become a great screenwriter capable of getting my screenplays in various genres produced into movies that inspire vast audiences to mitigate climate change.
I LEARNED is that I really can’t do a three page scene in five minutes — it ends up taking more time to fix it to passable, first draft quality beyond gobblety-gook. Better to pace myself and let the great ideas flood in while I’m writing, since it’s a RomCom and I need much more comedy (and I only have a tad in my outline) and that only comes if I write a bit slower. So maybe 1 page in five minutes. That’s still 12 pages in an hour. I’m not even there yet, maybe closer to 7 pages an hour. But that’s 20 pages in 3 hours (which is the very most I have for writing each day, usually only 1 or 2). I’ll keep striving for 10-12 pages an hour and hope to accomplish that.
I’m now well into Act 2, and when ideas come during my “sleep technique” for elevating earlier scenes, I’m going back and either adding those in or putting notes there to trigger my memory to add them in. It’s going very well.

Subject: Monica’s Next Act 1 Scenes
Vision: I will continue to learn everything I can through all different media to apply what I learn to become the best screenwriter I can be. To be successful in getting my movies made and to win awards in the process.
What I learned from doing this assignment is to review the rules, then the outline for the scene and write.
How’s it going: I’m finding I’m writing faster with the rules. I’m also finding I have a couple of scenes that are duplicates. But that’s ok. I have one more scene to go to finish up Act 1. I’m at 24 pages. Then I’ll review, do any editing. Then I need to research some time travel elements and make notes.

My Vision: I am a writer/director/producer that writes and makes films of all kinds, and I am recognized by the industry as both a highly successful filmmaker and as a person that’s easy to work with.
What I learned from doing this assignment is how to keep giving oneself permission to write a screenplay in order to complete the first draft.
The writing process continue to go fairly smoothly. The main thing I have to remember is to keep my inner critic quiet at this stage of the game. There will be a time and place for refining everything down the road, but for now, it’s all about getting it on the page. It look forward to seeing how it all turns out.

Module 5 lesson 4
My vision: I want the success and recognition of being an in demand, A-list screenwriter who writes successful films that are financially profitable, award winning and of enduring quality.
What I learned is that more I’m writing the more I am coming to understand my characters. They are coming alive as I write.
Given my brutal schedule, I have still have been able to average about four pages a day.

Amy’s Next Act 1 Scenes
Vision: I want to become known as an expert in the family-friendly genre and make a full-time living as a screenwriter.
Wat I learned from doing
this assignment is…the writing is going better now. I’m actually starting to
enjoy writing this screenplay. I tried the test where you see if you can write
a scene in 5 minutes and I didn’t even get one page done. I’ve been under the
impression that I write pretty fast, but maybe not. I’m almost done with the first
act. Just once scene left -
Andrew’s Next Act 1 scenes
Vision: For Hitler’s Choirboys to be such a compelling screenplay that Steven Spielberg and Mel Gibson will battle it out to produce their most powerful WW2 blockbuster since Hacksaw Ridge or Schindler’s List.
What I learned from doing this assignment: Keep moving forward. Cut to the chase. Don’t hang around to polish those turds. Momentum is your friend, and helps maintain an overview that can untangle plot and eliminate repetition.

Marcus’ Next Act 1 Scenes
My Vision: Get a script made into a movie.
This method is great for a first draft and is working well for me.
-
WIM2 – Dana’s Next Act 1 Scenes
My Vision: I intend to perfect my skills to become a successful screenwriter, scripting acclaimed and profitable films, recognized by my peers, and living an adventurous life.
What I learned during this assignment:
I’m speeding through the writing process from my outline, but I am beginning to realize that my script is missing a few scenes. I wrote the bones of the outline with 3 main characters. In next version, I will have to add the supporting cast scene.
-
WIM Lesson 4 Act 1
My Vision: To write eight blockbuster screenplays and to get a speaking line in at least one.
What I Learned From This Lesson: To continue speed writing and minimize writer’s block.
No question — this exercise helps the creative process. Knowing it’s okay to make mistakes in the first draft makes the thought process flow!
I’m now writing Act 2. May be a slight delay as a Category 1 hurricane is five hours away from landing right where I live in Florida.

MODULE FIVE LESSON FOUR
FRAN’S NEXT ACT ONE SCENES
WHAT I LEARNED: I’m learning how to speed write.
MY VISION: I want to write great movies. Movies that are magical, movies that move people and tell the truth. I want to write movies that stars will want to be in.
I am finally able to catch up now. I was able to find someone who could give me feedback for my outline. And I spent the weekend rewriting.
Today I did some speed writing on my script. I was able to write quite a bit. But I finally had to stop. I couldn’t write anymore. It’s crappy, but I got some more stuff on paper. YAY!
-
Dave Holloway’s next Act 1 scenes
My vision: I would like to be a successful writer in Hollywood, with a number of successful movies to my credit that put forward a core belief about environmental, political, or personal values.
What I learned doing this assignment is that writing quickly allows me to feel encouraged by getting a good amount of work done per day. This makes the process of writing a screenplay seem less endless and exhausting.

Module 5, Lesson 4 – Next Act-1
Subject: Rob Ingalls’ Next Act-1
MY VISION:
To be a Talented writer that delivers quality fast, with the film industry seeking me out.
WIL: This is going slow. I initially got the scenes written but clearly not enough for Act-1. I placed in new scenes that tie other scenes together.

Module 5 – Lesson 4 Continue Act I Next 6-10 Pages
Lisa Long’s Next Act 1 Scenes
My Vision: I will do whatever it takes to be comfortable saying that I am a writer by creating impactful stories with amazing characters in order to sell my scripts.
What I learned from this assignment is to just keep moving and don’t worry about the quality at this point.
-
Joe’s next Act 1 scenes
My vision is to persevere and stay the course of building steady daily routine, and disciplines that produce consistent writing of exceptional quality. Ultimately, the fruit of those habits and disciplines will be a track record of great marketable scripts that will make other successful talented pros seek me out.
I was genuinely surprised by how this actually went quite fast. That whole outline thing with the Beginning-Middle-End is such a huge help. Also I’ve discovered that I totally AM changing things at times by adding the details, BUT I am still honoring the original intent of each of the scenes, so its ok.

Erin Ziccarelli Next Act I Scenes
Vision: I am going to create profound scripts that leave audiences remembering my movies and leave me excited to keep writing and moving up in the industry.
<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>What I learned from doing this assignment is: the last mastery session helped me to understand more about speed writing. The writing process is easier now that I have such a detailed outline to guide me. I always struggled with speed writing, so this module is helping me become a faster writer!
