David Wickenden Has Finished Act 4 + 5
Done! This process has been amazing. I actually completed the first full draft for the pilot over the weekend.
I’m guessing Rule #6 came into play as I found the completed draft to be short on pages. SO, I’m guessing that during the future edits, I’ll be able t beef up the pages.
What did I learn doing this assignment?
As already mentioned, the outline has made the writing fantastic and fast.

David Thompson Has Finished Act 4 + 5 –
What I learned and what I did in this assignment is I simply blasted through the entire outline, using my original material for inspiration, but essentially keeps most scenes the way they were written, with added material for Acts 4 & 5. It took me an afternoon to pull the entire rough draft together. I use Fade In, it’s far more user friendly than Final Draft, plus it reads/writes in the Final Draft format. It’s how I always write anyway.
Act 5 is rough. As rough as an old country dirt road after a bad winter. BUT – it’s there. You can’t edit a blank page.
For ME, the next step is to print the thing, and look for major plotting and rhythm issues. That’s what the 2nd and 3rd drafts are for.

What I learned doing this assignment is I’m getting very comfortable with the process and high-speed writing.
Tell us any insights you had using the High-Speed Writing Rules or writing these final Acts.
I’m far more confident and competent with high-speed writing and will apply it to MOST everything I draft from now on. Writing a series is more complex and requires more foresight than a 100-page feature. However, it is less limited in characters, time, location, and subplots. That is a welcome challenge.
