What I learned doing this assignment is AI in some cases can follow what I have created and build on it. In other cases, it can provide me with some out-of-the-box thinking to help me develop my story. I also have found that AI has a lot of issues with Christian faith. In several instances where I specifically entered Christian terms, it returned ideas that were totally “Christian-less”. But all in all, I’ve got to admit I look forward to seeing where AI takes my story.

I learned that you have to revise a lot. It’s hard to craft what you are trying to say. I had every episode down to one or two sentences but felt it didn’t express my vision very well. So I went to longer synopses. Maybe I’ll revise down.

Episode 1 – UNMASKED:

A fugitive teen psychic named Ryan must conceal his psychic powers while starting over in high school. But he is haunted by traumatic visions from his past exploitation by a sinister government agency. Ryan’s attempt at normalcy is shattered when his psychic reaction to a classmate’s allergy crisis is photographed, exposing his true nature to the ruthless agents hunting him.

Episode 2 – INFILTRATION:

Psychic fugitive Ryan discovers his kidnapped classmates are being held in a fortified government facility. Determined to save them, he infiltrates the compound. Ryan learns the facility is prepping for an ominous experiment requiring his psychic powers. This system will channel spirits into human subjects, including Ryan’s friends. Forced to escape once more, Ryan must strategize how to obstruct the agency’s dark designs without becoming their next victim.

Episode 3 – AWAKENING:

Tormented by fragmented memories, Ryan returns to the safe-house where he was imprisoned as a child, seeking answers about his past. There he finds his medallion, a talisman that enables him to communicate with Jimmy, his spiritual mentor and unravel the secrets of the “aliens.” Ryan discovers the truth behind the “aliens” – they are lost souls of children like himself, exploited by the same government agency and now trapped. To end the cycle, Ryan must choose between saving the lost souls trapped in a purgatory or saving his classmates. He can’t do both.

Episode 4 – METAMORPHOSIS:

With his kidnapped classmates marked for sinister possession experiments, fugitive psychic Ryan hatches a daring plan. As a meteor shower falls, he manipulates the chaos, allowing benign spirits of exploited children to possess soldiers rather than classmates. With the troops transformed, Ryan stages an attack on the government facility, fighting to obstruct their dark designs. Episode 5 – OBSESSION:

Fugitive Ryan attempts escape with his motley crew of fellow outcast youths. But obsessed rogue soldiers and the military itself both pursue Ryan’s band. Running out of options, Ryan decides to draw the deadly forces away from his friends. But he soon faces recapture until Ryan’s classmates return and save him.

Episode 8 – ULTIMATUM:

After evading relentless forces, Ryan and his allies are finally captured by the military. Given an ultimatum – indefinite imprisonment or condemned life as a fugitive – Ryan wrestles an impossible choice. Both options endanger his friends. Isolated and outmatched, Ryan’s only hope is to somehow reconnect with his mentor, Jimmy. The fate of Ryan’s fellow extraordinary youths hangs in the balance in this climactic showdown.

Lilly is dismayed when Joshua asks Sally to teach an exercise class. Meanwhile, Timothy’s gets under way with Joshua and Dr. Dan accompanying Timothy in a fake bank robbery. As chaos unfolds, Joshua introduces Timothy to past life regressor Bernadine, who’s eager to convince Timothy he has a physical body. Lilly’s gay ex-husband—now female Kathy—wants to live with her again.

Episode 3: The TV Show Shuffle

Joshua and Lilly discover that Maudie, the subject on this week’s TV show, is not actually fat. While Lilly arranges a replacement episode, she must keep Quinten from seeing Timothy who doesn’t like visibility. In a private with Joshua, Shay reveals Lilly is his birth mother. Joshua hires him to help Sally, who offers to show Quinten the bad TV show.

Episode 4: Exercise Extravaganza

Sally’s exercise class gets her promoted to be in the TV show, infuriating Lilly. Quinten gloats over Joshua’s and Sally’s chitchat and the big money Joshua makes. Timothy’s new crisis necessitates another bank prank after which Bernadine recognizes Timothy in a past life breakthrough. WithTyrell’s failed safe-cracking attempt which Libby arranged, she still has time for a lunch date with Kathy.

Episode 5: Showtime Surprise

Dr. Dan scolds Joshua for Timothy’s premature dates, leading to another treatment. Meanwhile, Bernadine’s new show opens, and the entire office attends, including Vicki with Shay. While the show’s in progress, police catch Tyrell cracking Dr. Dan’s safe and blaming Joshua, so police drag him to the show. Bernadine’s breakthrough gets hand-cuffed Tyrell on stage with Quinten gleefully filming it all.

Episode 6: Hypnotic Hijinks

Shay makes points with Lilly when tries but fails to keep Sally from finding a file Quinten wants to complete his story. He confronts Joshua after learning the whole truth from Maudie, Timothy, and Bernadine. Joshua hypnotizes Quinten, and won’t tell Dr. Dan and Lilly what suggestion he gave him, but assures them the suggestions will be followed.

Episode 7: Fame and Revelations

Phones are busy with people wanting an exercise class with Sally, thanks to Quinten’s story about only good things, as Joshua had suggested. Lilly’s rage turns to joy when Sally confesses she’s been investigating Joshua for her publisher uncle who will now publish Lilly’s book. Shocking revelations reveal all secrets, and Shay and Lilly are exceedingly glad.

Episode 8: New Beginnings

With Joshua on book tour, the office bustles with phone calls and new opportunities. Lilly’s book becomes a bestseller, and all relationships evolve. However, Joshua—from afar—hires a new girl, and Lilly decides to quit working for such an unappreciative man. That is, until Joshua comes back, tells her he missed her, and wants to get started on their next book.

I learned from this assignment that the Hook/Intrigue to Cliffhanger formula worked really well to organize my thoughts about the episodes. Also, AI was a good catalyst for coming up with my own descriptions.

Episode 1

Hook/Intrigue: In a highly publicized procedure, a dying entrepreneur and three wealthy, elderly customers transfer their consciousnesses to youthful brain-dead hosts.

Main Character Journey: Now young and healthy, each sets out to fulfill a dream. Diana wants control of the science, Mark wants to resurrect his political career, Peter wants to be seen as the next Steve Jobs and Suzanne wants to make up for a lifetime of personal regrets.

Major Challenge/Conflict: Diana clashes with Lily Tileston, head of the project, Mark has a bitter ex-wife with tales to tell, Peter has a skittish Board of Directors and Suzanne wants to wrest control of her company from her unworthy son.

Action/Reaction: Diana has to prove herself to Peter and we learn she blackmailed him to make her a test subject. Suzanne appeals to her Board but, even rejuvenated, she’s ignored. Mark hires a campaign manager who helps him neutralize his ex-wife.

Cliffhanger: The Pentagon has its own lab and is following the results of Peter’s consciousness transfer closely.

Episode 2: Family Matters The test subjects confront host families, facing emotional turmoil. Diana navigates a rocky marriage, Mark’s family wants a piece of his rejuvenated life, and Peter faces a dangerous encounter. As bonds strain, a gun-wielding threat leaves Peter’s fate hanging.

Episode 2:

As a publicity stunt, Peter allows the families of the hosts to meet the test subjects. Diana meets Josh, her host’s husband, who had a rocky marriage with his unfaithful wife. The parents of Mark’s host want to be his family. And the wife of Peter’s host turns out to be dangerous. First, she tries to seduce him, then threatens him with a gun. If she can’t have him, she’d rather no one did.

Main Character Journey: Only Mark recognizes the side-effect because it is a change in sexuality, while the others ignore the emotional changes they’re experiencing.

Major Challenge/Conflict: Diana, Peter and Suzanne are in denial and Mark tells no one because he fears political fallout.

Action/Reaction: Diana spends time with Josh, going over the science of the procedure. Mark responds to a pass from his gay campaign manager, and is confused that he’s attracted to men. When the rumor proves false, Alo loses credibility. Arkuji infiltrates the Donek tribe, corners Imara.

Episode 6: Love Calls: Jake rescues Imara, grapples with his feelings for her, discovers she is Armann’s wife. Depressed, he looks for a way back to Earth but is confronted by the Orb. Jake accepts the Orb and becomes a true Donek. Armann learns that Arkuji attempted to kill Imara. He confronts Arkuji in front of Hedeon leadership, but to deflect, Arkuji lies, states that he learned Imara fled since Armann and Lyra were having an affair. The council wants to expel Armann from the tribe but Armann vows to disprove this, states he will bring Imara back to prove Arkuji’s lies.

Episode 7: The Donek’s Scream: Jake has a vision of a temple burning. His power in the tribe has increased since he accepted the Orb and so Alo, to regain control, tells the Donek to ignore Jake’s interpretation of the vision and plans a celebration at the Donek temple. Armann hears about the celebration and plots to burn down the temple and capture Imara. When the celebration time comes, the Donek, including Jake and Imara, flock to the temple. Armann starts the fire, the Donek flee.

Episode 8: Masada Calls: Alo, broken after learning how many Donek died at the temple, thrusts Jake into a leadership role. After a strengthening from the Orb, Jake accepts. Armann gains esteem after his victory at the temple, even though Imara was not captured. He vows to annihilate the Donek. Taron takes this message to the Donek. Jake has a vision of the Jews going up to Masada. Jake learns about the Mesa, a place resembling Masada, and gathers the tribe, convinces them to leave their homes and flee there for safety. The Donek gather their possessions, go up to the Mesa.

What I learned doing this assignment is that the AIs I used like to be vague. I did a lot of rewriting and used more of what I’d written below than what the AI gave me after multiple attempts to get them (I tried two different ones) to give me more of what I wanted.

Hook/Intrigue: Car crash where Zane’s parents are killed and Adrianna’s husband is paralyzed

Main Character Journey: Adrianna, while concerned about her husband’s condition is angry at him too. It looks like he will be paralyzed from the waist down and has sustained some brain damage.

Major Challenge/Conflict: Zane is called home to run the construction business he has not worked in since high school.

Action/Reaction: Adrianna pushes the team to bring the product to market sooner because she will need to be the breadwinner for a while. They decide to add the new science teacher, Binley Marco.

Cliffhanger: At the funeral, two men in suits take Zane aside and tell him that his parents’ death may have been a hit.

Episode 2:

Hook/Intrigue: Adrianna tells her husband she must go back to nursing and they both know why that is a bad idea. He tells her not to worry, he’ll be back to work soon.

Main Character Journey: Zane is trying to come up to speed on the construction company’s current contracts and is scoffed at as the kid who had to cheat to pass classes in college and who never graduated. He resolves to prove people wrong and keep the company afloat..

Major Challenge/Conflict: The product as it is currently designed is not reliably manufacturable. Binley and Marco disagree on ways to make it better.

Action/Reaction: Bettina has given a loan to her boyfriend and he dumps her. This has happened before.

Cliffhanger: Binley is seen as cold by the other teachers. At home, he looks at a picture of his late best friend and mutters, “People I like tend to die.”

Episode 3:

Hook/Intrigue: Adrianna’s 13 year old gets in trouble in school and Binley befriends her because he knows her mom.

Main Character Journey: Roman Foxfire is told he is permanently paralyzed but he is hopeful he can get enrolled in a trial to repair his spinal injury. Adrianna scoffs at the idea and begins classes to renew her nursing license.

Major Challenge/Conflict: Zane uses his parents’ old contracts to put together a bid for a new one. He consults the foremen who scoff and tell him he has no idea what he is doing and he should let them run the company.

Action/Reaction: Overton Ventures product is finally reliably manufacturable. Bettina is told to do the marketing campaign.

Cliffhanger: Bettina is researching similar products and finds their design offered on an online retailer from a company known for cheap knockoffs.

Episode 4:

Hook/Intrigue: Adrianna’s husband comes home from the hospital and Adrianna takes charge of his meds to the kids won’t accidentally get hold of them. He reminds her about how she used to steal drugs by diluting them at the hospital.

Main Character Journey: Zane loses the contract he bid by himself and goes away for a few days, telling Overton Ventures that he is visiting relatives.

Major Challenge/Conflict: Bettina’s parents accuse her of paying off her boyfriend’s bad loan which she did, but will not admit. Adrianna is in money trouble because she can’t work until she is relicensed or an insurance settlement comes and Bettina loans her money.

Action/Reaction: When the knockoff OV product is discussed, each accuses the others of leaking their product. Sabra says she has another product idea but engages in gossip, posing each of the others as the leaker.

Cliffhanger: Sabra tells the others that Zane has disappeared after losing the contract and, apparently, leaking their idea.

Episode 5:

Hook/Intrigue: Bettina tells her parents that OV has taken on a new product to develop and needs a little front money. They tell her that she is not, under any circumstances to fund the ridiculous company.

Main Character Journey: Zane returns and attends the OV product meeting. Others accuse him of selling them out and ask where he’s been. He tells his “with relatives” lie and Binley can tell it’s a lie.

Major Challenge/Conflict: Zane returns and his foremen tell him they need more projects in the pipeline and that they’ve decided they want to buy him out in a 20 year contract. They chide that they’ll pay him a fixed amount each year so he can screw up for the next 20 years like he has for the past 20.

Action/Reaction: Bettina finally reveals that she can’t fund the next venture when they get together with product development estimates. They are in a quandary about how to fund the product.

Cliffhanger: Adrianna, desperate for money, makes molds for pills on her 3D printer that match her husband’s medications.

Episode 6:

Hook/Intrigue: Binley looks at a large stock portfolio and cashes in a little to fund the OV product development.

Main Character Journey: Adrianna substitutes half-strength pills for her husband’s and contacts her ex at the university to sell the half-strength ones. It’s clear they’ve done this before.

Major Challenge/Conflict: Sabra sows the rumor that Adrianna is unhappy with her husband and is straying with her university ex. Adrianna has trouble explaining that away.

Action/Reaction: Binley tells OV that he can fund the second invention with money from “an inheritance”, the money from his stock sale. Bettina is mortified that someone else has taken over the banker role in the company. Bettina rejects Binley’s admiration of her.

Cliffhanger: Zane gets another visit from his “relatives” and is forced to leave again.

Episode 7:

Hook/Intrigue: Binley makes a romantic overture to Bettina while consulting about marketing for the new product.

Main Character Journey: In a moment of confidence while working on the new product, Binley confesses to Adrianna that he doesn’t get close to people because they have a tendency to die on him. He doesn’t elaborate.

Major Challenge/Conflict: Adrianna looks over her finances, realizing that her husband is never going to be able to work again due to his brain injury and paralysis. She talks about finances with her daughter who wants things they can’t afford. Adrianna ponders options.

Action/Reaction: Sabra sees Adrianna and Binley in close communication and starts the rumor that they leaked the product and that’s where the money that Adrianna is living on and the money Binley is funding the second invention is coming from.

Hook/Intrigue: Sabra gets word from the adoption agency that her child’s adoptive parents have told their daughter that she is adopted. She stares at the picture of the baby.

Main Character Journey: Bettina lies to her parents about the solvency of OV and that they will repay the loan she made them for their first product. She eyes mortgaging her house to cover it.

Major Challenge/Conflict: Zane struggles with his bid for the next contract. His foremen chide him and urge him to let them take over. He suspects they are deliberately leaking his bid to the competition in an effort to get him out and take over the company. He contemplates hacking the other companies.

Action/Reaction: While doing market research for the second product, Bettina discovers that the second product has been introduced to the market by a university incubator. Each team member suspect others of leaking the product design and has reasons to do so.

Cliffhanger: After a fight with her husband about money, Adrianna takes a pill. Binley gets a late night visit from the sister of his college best friend who says she needs money and she knows he has it.

What I learned doing this assignment is…The biggest thing I noticed is that when I wrote up the descriptions using only the main character, I combined some of the other characters details with her. This made her a stronger character and I think will deepen the story. I can flush out more details for the others to strengthen her further.
