What I learned doing this assignment is… I feel like I am treating my episode summaries more like scenes, so I need a little more fleshing out. ChatGPT gave me a content warning for the first time, so that was a little curious. It gave me some answers, but they were very milquetoast. I’m going to try the 5-minute deadline for episode descriptions next, and move it along.

Episode 1: AWAKENING

On Earth, Jess experiences magical occurrences, leading her to the Starlight Café disguised as a portal to another world. She blackmails the protector to use the portal finding an identical twin to her on the other side, who cannot be blackmailed.

Episode 4: ROYAL ENTANGLEMENTS

Back in Sidereal, while trying to fit in and also side-step wedding plans, Jess struggles with new emotions as Gabriel shows her a different side. When she discovers her mother might be alive, she knows she has to confront her father, so leaves a note that she is returning to Earth for answers before she can marry him.

Episode 5: SECRETS UNVEILED

Jess has a difficult discussion with her father. When she shows him her new powers, he begs her to not use them and refuses to give her the answers she wants. She learns Rafe may be in league with Caroline and flees to the Starlight Café with secret service agents when she’s caught rifling through the vice president’s quarters.

Episode 6: CROSSROADS OF DESTINY

Once again in Sidereal, Jess makes up with Gabriel, confronts her grandfather, and learns his real plans for Earth. She discovers her mother is alive, though delusional after being locked up for so long. Banished from the White House, Jess deduces Caroline’s true motives and goes into hiding to confront the dilemma of sealing the portal with no help from her mother who is still in a trance-like state. She enlists Lilah’s help, but before they can finish, her previously unknown twin brother appears, whisking her back to Sidereal.

What I learned from Module 2 Lesson 5 is that I am still not clear about how to properly weave the A, B and C stories together. It’s also making me feel like i possibly should write this as a novel first, then adapt to screen. But this is a great exercise to see what I am clear about and what I still need to work on.
