Lynn’s Finished Act 1
VISION: I am determined to become a great screenwriter capable of getting my screenplays in various genres produced into movies that inspire vast audiences to mitigate climate change.
I LEARNED that I still sometimes fall back into slow writing, looking stuff up, going back fixing things. I think it’s because I’m so into the story that I have to keep going and have gotten way ahead. Next time I do a script on my own, I’ll set a much shorter deadline so I can better practice speed writing, spending a lot of time upfront with the outline.
It’s going fast. I’m just finished Act 3 on page 71, which is great. I’ve never written a screenplay less that 120 pages, then had to whittle them down to a more acceptable 110 or 115 pages.
I keep writing and can’t wait to see how the story turns out, even though I have the outline and know…. Also I’m racing against a deadline of severe working coming up very soon that will derail my screenwriting, hoping I can complete the first draft in the next 5 days.

Amy’s Finished Act 1
Vision: I want to become known as an expert in the family-friendly genre and make a full-time living as a screenwriter.
What I learned from doing this assignment is…no new revelations. I am finished with Act 1. I know the scenes where I didn’t get around to figuring out a beginning, middle and end with interest techniques are probably going to have to be rewritten.

Andrew’s Finished Act 1
Vision: For Hitler’s Choirboys to be such a compelling screenplay that Steven Spielberg and Mel Gibson will battle it out to produce their most powerful WW2 blockbuster since Hacksaw Ridge or Schindler’s List.
What I learned from doing this assignment: What I’m doing here is a little different. I’m adapting a novel, which means simplifying the story, reducing the content, and cutting the text by three-quarters. The layering process we have gone through so far has really helped me elevate the story and cut to the chase. Backstory has had to be minimised and layered in. Some is still absent and may have to go into Act 2. But the process is working and I have a draft Act 1 which seems to hang together. Thank you to Hal, and to Lynn and Dave for their wise, thoughtful and helpful suggestions.

My Vision: I am a writer/director/producer that writes and makes films of all kinds, and I am recognized by the industry as both a highly successful filmmaker and as a person that’s easy to work with.
What I learned from doing this assignment, is how to write the 1st act of a screenplay within a matter of days by just writing it out.
Well, I went through Act 1 and tweaked it just a touch. Not much, as the major revisions will come later. It’s been a very liberating experience though to get this screenplay up and running. Good times!

Ron’s Finished Act 1
VISION: I want the success and recognition of being an in demand, A-list screenwriter who writes successful films that are financially profitable, award winning and of enduring quality.
Going well. On schedule. I’ve had to readjust the outline, but it seems to work. I’m excited about how thias script will develop.
-
Subject: Monica Finished Act 1
Vision: I will continue to learn everything I can through all different media to apply what I learn to become the best screenwriter I can be. To be successful in getting my movies made and to win awards in the process.
What I learned from doing this assignment is just to move forward basically “fill-in the blanks” of the outline.
I’m done Act 1 and even sent it for feedback in my network.
-
Renee’s Finished Act 1
My Vision: I will work hard to become a well-respected writer who gets my movies produced and has enough work to keep me busy and keep the lights on.
What I learned doing this assignment is to keep myself empowered and not allow myself to stall out while writing the first draft. Just get the story down and fix issues as you rewrite.
How it’s Going: I finished Act 1 in the last assignment. This assignment I’m moving forward with Act 2. So far, I’ve written 10 pages of the second act and will keep going. Hopefully, with this high speed writing process I can get through Act 2 in the next couple of days.

Marcus Finished Act 1
My Vision: Get a script made into a movie.
This method is great for a first draft and is working well for me.
-
Joyce’s Formatting
WIL: Even with family demands there can be time to write and use the creative process with speed writing.
vision: I want to creative memorable movie scripts that actors want to perform.
The first scene is drafted. Now, I have an outline on which to base the first draft.
-
WIM2 – Dana Finished Act 1
My Vision: I intend to perfect my skills to become a successful screenwriter, scripting acclaimed and profitable films, recognized by my peers, and living an adventurous life.
What I learned during this assignment:
Completing Act 1, I realized I may need to create more of the ordinary world for my main character to increase the scene. I’m short by the end of the act.
-
Vision: To write eight Hollywood blockbusters and to get a speaking line in at least one.
What I learned from this assignment: To make creativity a priority in the first draft.
Just about finished with Act 2 and it’s becoming easier each day to speed write!

MODULE FIVE LESSON FIVE
FRAN’S FINISHED ACT ONE
WHAT I LEARNED: Still learning how to speed write.
MY VISION: I want to write great movies. Movies that are magical, movies that move people and tell the truth. I want to write movies that stars will want to be in.
I was able to fast write about 10 pages today. And THEN I was able to repair a scene from another script I’ve been working on (I took this class to help me finish. And what I had written kind of made sense for it.)
It’s still a new thing for me to write this way, but I am getting the gist of it.
-
Dave Holloway finished Act 1
My vision: I would like to be a successful writer in Hollywood, with a number of successful movies to my credit that put forward a core belief about environmental, political, or personal values.
What I learned from this assignment is that the speed writing process gives me a better sense of the flow of the whole story and how it is forming than my usual slower writing process does, in which I get caught up in the minutiae of individual lines and scenes.

Module 5, Lesson 5 – Finish Act-1
Subject: Rob Ingalls’ Finished Act-1
MY VISION:
To be a Talented writer that delivers quality fast, with the film industry seeking me out.
WIL: As I proceed with later Acts, I also return to earlier Acts with additional scenes or detail that my sub-conscious handed to me.
-
Module 5 – Lesson 5 Finish Up Act I Final 6-10 Pages
Lisa Long’s Finished Act 1
My Vision: I will do whatever it takes to be comfortable saying that I am a writer by creating impactful stories with amazing characters in order to sell my scripts.
What I learned from this assignment is completing the Act gives a sense of accomplishment to move on to the next Act asap.
-
Joe’s finished Act One.
My vision is to persevere and stay the course of building steady daily routine, and disciplines that produce consistent writing of exceptional quality. Ultimately, the fruit of those habits and disciplines will be a track record of great marketable scripts that will make other successful talented pros seek me out.
well, I got to a turning point. It seemed like it took a long time, and I am starting to wonder if my first act actually ends in a different place. But I’m not going to worry about that right now, because I know what has to be written next, so I’m just gonna keep rolling until Act 2 is done.

Erin Ziccarelli’s Finished Act 1
Vision: I am going to create profound scripts that leave audiences remembering my movies and leave me excited to keep writing and moving up in the industry.
What I learned from doing this assignment is: I didn’t have everything for the first act figured out in my outline, but I’m still sticking to that outline as I move forward in the writing process. If I’m having trouble coming up with dialogue and descriptions, I always go back to my outline as a blueprint for the script.
