Jessica's Transformational Events

What I learned doing the assignment is … I need more events in act 2. And I might have too many villains (old woman at home, coworker, demon).

Act 1: Set up and see the Old Ways.
• Hook: the possessed son is killed by a car in front of parent’s house
• Opening: a student leaves her apartment and hop on the bus to another town where she rents a room from an old couple. She listens to the rules and does as old lady says.
• At work, she uses self control to refrain from eating box of donuts in the fridge
• Inciting Incident: Old lady acts strange. Old man reveals they lost their son last year. Strange occurrences happen.
• Turning Point: she discovers she’s been marked (as mark on body)

Act 2: Challenge the Old Ways.
• New plan: Investigates and discovers the couple want to use her body to host a demon they’ll summon.
• Plan in action: ESCAPE: She tries to leave and misses the last bus. She’s stuck here another week.
• Midpoint Turning Point: She stand up to old woman, breaks the rule and says NO. She leaves.

Act 3: With the Midpoint change, the Old Ways are dropping off and profound moments give us the New Ways.
• Rethink everything. She asks coworker for help. He takes advantage of her. Words spread in the office that she’s easy. She stands up to her boss.
• New plan: Returns home. Tries to steal the book or incantations. Shows it to an ally.
• Turning Point: Huge failure / Major shift: She becomes the demon. (During the Halloween party, discovers symbols sown into her costume. She can’t take it off. Demon invades her body. She kills the coworker who took advantage of her.)

Act 4: Test the change in this character! Prove New Ways!
• Climax/Ultimate expression of the conflict: Kills couple who know she stole her roomate’s identity.
• Resolution: She admits her guilt (she killed her roommate and stole her identity). Demon takes her away.
