Lynn’s Began Act 2
VISION: I am determined to become a great screenwriter capable of getting my screenplays in various genres produced into movies that inspire vast audiences to mitigate climate change.
I LEARNED that I can now more easily skip over problems about what to put in some spots leaving a note to myself and moving on. This is wonderful and sometimes I get some ideas later (e.g., after sleeping or in the shower), but I don’t go and write it. I just add the idea to the note, to be made part of the scene later, and move on.
I’m now into Act 4 with 6 more scenes to write up. Hoping I’ll finish in about three days after which the sh*t will hit the fan and may bring my writing to a halt for some time. Not totally a metaphor… I have a colonoscopy coming up in addition to heavy work demands. And I’m getting to the wedding scene in the barn with a menagerie of farm animals brought in from the severe freeze. While they don’t have “odorama” in theaters today, I may write about the guests turning up and holding their noses when a boo-boo happens.
I’ve also found very helpful the critiques others in class have given me, which helped me improve my outline and fix glaring problems with it. For instance several noted my need for more comedy (it had sounded more like a drama). I also keep their insights in mind while writing.

Ron’s Began Act 2
VISION: I want the success and recognition of being an in demand, A-list screenwriter who writes successful films that are financially profitable, award winning and of enduring quality.
I’ve been moving along at a steady pace. As I’ve gone alone, I’ve been changing some of the structure as I had breakthroughs. I’ve been getting to know my characters better. Amazing how the creative subconscious works.
-
Amy Began Act 2
Vision: I want to become known as an expert in the family-friendly genre and make a full-time living as a screenwriter.
What I learned from doing this assignment is…I’m still not writing fast. I caught myself editing and wordsmithing. I feel like this first draft is already bad enough. If I write faster, it will be worse. I need to chew on this.

WIM2 – Dana Began Act 2
My Vision: I intend to perfect my skills to become a successful screenwriter, scripting acclaimed and profitable films, recognized by my peers, and living an adventurous life.
What I learned during this assignment:
Speed writing and not worrying about perfection, I have been able to write through my script at an incredible rate. During the PS81 course, we wrote the beats first, then filled in the other scenes. I enjoy both methods, but I lean toward this method to keep me on track.

Subject: Monica Began Act 2
Vision: I will continue to learn everything I can through all different media to apply what I learn to become the best screenwriter I can be. To be successful in getting my movies made and to win awards in the process.
What I learned from doing this assignment is keep moving forward. I set two hours aside to write and I wrote half the second act.
How it’s going: I’m combining some scenes as they take place in the same location. And I’ve written in a couple of transition scenes. If an idea comes to me, I make a script note and keep going.

BOB’S BABY BY VIC VALLEAU

WIM ASSIGNMENT MODULES
WHAT I LEARNED DOING THESE ASSIGNMENTS: Staying positive and expecting to finish this script is key.
I chose a compelling story: Comically delivering on the concept of how screwed up love, marriage, divorce, abortion, dating and sex are today’s world. This keeps me writing. I have 47 page length est. scenes according to Final Cut Pro. My story evolves and gets richer.
I’m adding subplots and scenes missing from original outline. My subplots usually come from competing agendas among main characters. I’ve added a few supporting characters’, mostly inserted into existing scenes.

Renee’s Beginning Act 2
My Vision: I will work hard to become a well-respected writer who gets my movies produced and has enough work to keep me busy and keep the lights on.
What I learned doing this assignment is to keep myself empowered and not allow myself to stall out while writing the first draft. Just get the story down and fix issues as you rewrite.
How it’s Going: I’m flying through the script. My Act one was a bit shorter than I’d like, but I’ve been writing notes as I go as to what I can add in later. I feel confident I will be able to continue to write at a high speed and get through this first draft easily. I’ve used this process before in other ScreenwritingU classes, but I always struggled. I think I’m finally willing to honor the process and write with out seeking perfection.

Dave Holloway Began Act 2
My vision: I would like to be a successful writer in Hollywood, with a number of successful movies to my credit that put forward a core belief about environmental, political, or personal values.
What I learned doing this assignment is that using the timer was surprisingly easy and productive. My writing was not as bad as I thought it would be, and I was able to come up with scenes that honored the outline, even if they were rough drafts. It made the process of writing a screenplay seem somewhat easier.

Marcus Began Act 2
My Vision: Get a script made into a movie.
This method is great for a first draft and is working well for me.

MODULE FIVE LESSON SIX
FRAN BEGAN ACT TWO
WHAT I LEARNED: Just keep plugging away. If one thing doesn’t work, set it aside and let it stew in the unconscious brain for awhile until it does! And just keep writing, whatever you can.
MY VISION: I want to write great movies. Movies that are magical, movies that move people and tell the truth. I want to write movies that stars will want to be in.
I tried to write yesterday, but I was having a hard time letting the stream of consciousness writing work its magic. So, I set my story aside for today and started trying this technique on the other script I’m in the process of trying to finish. And it worked out pretty well. I was able overcome the problem I was having with the start of the Act and write through to almost the end of where I needed to be. Today it was working! Hopefully, tomorrow I can pick up my script for this class again and write more pages!

Module 5, Lesson 6 – Start Act 2
Subject: Rob Ingalls’ Began Act-2
MY VISION:
To be a Talented writer that delivers quality fast, with the film industry seeking me out.
WIL: Short bursts work best for me in writing as well as in learning.
I’ve linked scenes that were missing transition, plus fixed some logic areas along the way. Still going slower than hoped.

Module 5 – Lesson 6 Start Act 2. Write 6-10 Pages
Lisa Long Began Act 2
My Vision: I will do whatever it takes to be comfortable saying that I am a writer by creating impactful stories with amazing characters in order to sell my scripts.
What I learned from this assignment is feeling good about completing Act 1 makes it exciting to move on to Act 2!
-
Joe began Act 2
My vision is to persevere and stay the course of building steady daily routine, and disciplines that produce consistent writing of exceptional quality. Ultimately, the fruit of those habits and disciplines will be a track record of great marketable scripts that will make other successful talented pros seek me out.
Well, I set a timer for 30 minutes. In that time, i had at least 3 interruptions, but always returned to the task at hand. And once I got into a flow, I found that the re-adjusted 30 minute timer came by pretty fast, and I just kept going after that.
I think I have a new rule: once you start writing, expect 3 interruptions. Then after the 3rd one, you’ll get into a flow. So when the 3rd interruption happens, don’t get mad. Get excited for the upcoming flow!

Erin Ziccarelli Beginning Act 2
Vision: I am going to create profound scripts that leave audiences remembering my movies and leave me excited to keep writing and moving up in the industry.
What I learned from doing this assignment is: this process requires a ton of concentration. It’s difficult for me to write without editing, but setting and sticking to the timer leaves no time for going back and changing my words. I eagerly await the next modules to improve this draft!
