Michael Wallace’s Pitch Fest Pitch
What I learned form this lesson is to keep my pitch to a concise hook that will get the producers interest.
My name is Michael Wallace and I’m here to pitch my dramedy. “The Kid from Lynbrook”.
The Kid from Lynbrook is about a Wall Street executive that returns to his hometown to win back his childhood sweetheart by mentoring a kid in a school stock trading club, until it is discovered that the kid is trading real stocks using his inside knowledge, and making a fortune.
I see it as a low budget film to be determined by the level of talent we can attract to the project.
I like Miles Teller, Ryan Gosling, and Chris Evans for the male lead, I like Rachel McAdams and Emily Blunt for the female lead, Noah Jupe or Ian Armitage for the Child lead and Paul Giamotti for the Attorney General role.
Act 1 -Brendan Malone is a hot shot Wall Street executive during the “dot com” boom returns to his hometown of Lynbrook, where he mentors Anthony a twelve-year-old kid in a school stock trading club to win back Anthony’s teacher Cindy his childhood sweetheart, the one who got away.Malone gives Anthony inside information to help him win his stock picking contest, and in exchange the kid agrees to help him by finding out any information he can on Cindy, to help Malone win her back.
Act 2 -Everything is going great until it is discovered through an SEC probe that Anthony is trading real stocks in an account set up in his mother’s name and making a fortune.
The politically motivated NYS AG, faces the dilemma of prosecuting a kid for insider trading after Anthony refuses to settle, and the media won’t let the story go away. Despite Malone’s political contributions, The AG threatens to go after him if he doesn’t agree to testify against Anthony.
Act 3-Malone resists at first, but then agrees to testify to save himself, losing Cindy and his relationship with Anthony.
How it ends -Anthony’s heart wrenching testimony on the stand makes Malone realize that he learned everything that is wrong with Wall Street, from him.
Malone secretly feeds inside information to the defense about his firms ‘questionable dealings which they use against him when he is put on the stand, to help Anthony get off.
There have been many successful movies about Wall Street, but none from the perspective of a twelve-year-old kid.

Sandy: Pitch Fest Pitch
What I learned: It is especially important to be concise, and to the point in a pitch so you don't bore your listener. If I go over the pitch multiple times, I can find ways to make it shorter and more powerful. It still needs work!
Hi, I‘m Sandy, and I would like to tell you about my historical biopic screenplay entitled ‘Mathematical Mermaid.’ It has won best screenplay awards in two festivals, and I have representation.
The heroine of this story, Sofia Kovalevsky, has coins, stamps, festivals, and a moon crater named for her, multiple books written about her, and three now outdated films about her life were made in Sweden and Russia, but no film has been made in English.
How does one woman launch a tidal wave of social change in a world where women have no power and no voice?
This is a true story of a young math genius, oppressed and isolated in 19th-century Russia, who escapes to Germany, determined to become the first female professor in all of Europe.
BUDGET: The budget range is about $15 million.
ACTORS: The heroine, Sofia Kovalevsky, is spirited, charming, brilliant, attractive, and sassy, a great role for someone like Saoirse Ronan, Lily-Rose Depp, Zendaya, Olivia Cooke, For the older kindly professor Weierstrass: Colin Firth, Peter Kurth, Tom Hanks, or Heino Ferch.
ACTS:
Act 1: Oppressed and isolated in a tumultuous 19th-century Russia, the self-taught math genius Sofia Kovalevsky must find a way to escape to Europe and follow her passion. She enters a fictitious marriage to gain her freedom, sadly giving up her chances for a love marriage to be free.
Act 2: Although her genius convinces a brilliant mathematician to teach her in secret, Sofia is shut out of the male-dominated academic world, denied the professorship she craves, and ultimately stumbles into self-doubt. The rector at the University of Berlin makes it his mission to protect his all-male policy from including women. Her fictitious husband pressures her to be his true wife.
ACT 3: After her fictitious husband’s financial ruin and suicide, Sofia returns to the joy she found in math. In financial desperation, she decides to take control of her own fate by making a bet with the open-minded Director of Mathematics in Stockholm: a gamble to solve an impossible problem for a professorship.
Dramatic End
Winning the Prix Bordin at the prestigious Academy of Sciences in Paris for solving the elusive Mathematical Mermaid problem, Sofia Kovalevsky becomes the first female professor in all of Europe; she honors the professor who took a big chance in teaching her secretly; and she opens doors for women to follow in her footsteps. As she leaves the hall she meets a student, Marie Curie, who thanks her for giving women hope.
My background is in science and math. A founder of a biotech consulting company, I currently organize science and math camps and conferences for girls. I have taken multiple Robert McKee seminars and several online courses from McKee, Screenwriting U, and others.

Pamela Milton’s Pitch Fest Pitch
What I learned from in this lesson is to follow a format which gives the producers what they want and need, keep it short and sweet, how to answer potential questions about budget and actors, be able to give a brief description of the stories acts.
Hello, I’m Pamela Milton, during my tenure as a co-director with Section 22 Productions I contributed film scripts for the company’s production. As a result of this, I have several script in various stages of development. Today, I’m going to pitch my dramedy entitled The Great Bank Robbery of 1934.
Two strong willed women collide in a hail of bullets, embezzlement and ballet shoes when an aspiring dancer takes leadership of the inept Chutney Gang in 1934 only to run afoul an ambitious IRS agent in 1980 investigating bank fraud.
ACT ONE
In a desperate attempt to escape a suffocating future with fiancé, FBI agent, Zebulon Hardcore, aspiring dancer, Tempest Headley, kidnaps the Chutney Gang during a bank robbery.
Tempest is the fourth figure involved in the robbery which ended in an armed stand-off. In 1980, she and the gang are prominent citizens living under assumed names in the town of Yesterday.
In 1980, IRS agent McKenna Worth, is sent undercover by regional IRS director, Bennett Caruthers, to investigate the possible involvement of Yesterday’s town officials in the embezzlement of supposedly stolen funds. Caruthers has designs on the money himself and is using her for his own gains.
Vince Manelli, McKenna’s partner, is reporting all her actions to an unknown third party.
ACT TWO
In Yesterday, McKenna meets former FBI agent, Zebulon Hardcore, who is hunting the Chutney Gang and Sheriff Samuel Armitage with whom she quickly forms a relationship.
McKenna pieces together the truth about the robbery and Tempest’s role in it and where the evidence is
She refuses to break into City Hall to find the evidence. Caruthers punishes her by revealing her identity to Sheriff Armitage and why she is in Yesterday. McKenna is disgraced.
Tempest and the other gang members are struggling with Sal’s dementia which worsens when he learns that Zebulon Hardcore is in town.
ACT THREE
Caruthers and five henchmen go to Yesterday to deal with the situation.
A gun battle ensues between McKenna, Samuel, Tempest, Bob and Exit and the five henchmen resulting in their arrest.Caruthers efforts to exhort money from the town officials is stopped by the arrival of her partner, Vince Manelli and the FBI.
In the year that follows, Tempest and Zebulon reconcile, McKenna and Samuel separate, and Caruthers goes to prison. The “marriage” of Chaz and Melville bring McKenna and Samuel together once more with McKenna becoming Samuel’s deputy. The Chutney Gang retire o a private island to spend their remaining days robbing banks in prefab 1930’s towns.
Budget scale: 15 to 30 million depending on if the main character in both 1934 and 1980 play both versions of themselves or another actor is hired to play the younger/older version i.e. in Men in Black 3, present day, Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) is played by Josh Brolin in the 1969 timeline.Actors: (wish list)
