David Wickenden Story Summary
What have I learned?
By giving a writing out the summary of the pilot, I feel it conveys the intrigue and mystery of the entire season and offers insight into what future seasons can expect.
Title:
One Hour Thriller
An infamous child abuser who served an unusual short term is being released from prison. His lawyer explains that there has been a verifiable death threat. The caller even produced fresh evidence of the child abuser with one of his victims. The government plans on transporting him from the prison to the Ottawa International airport to avoid a confrontation. Even with the change in schedule, the man dies from sniper fire.
Inspector Janice Williams is a cop on a mission. Head of the RCMP’s child crime division, each child matters. Molested as a child, she knows full well the trauma and the ongoing psychological damage these crimes leave in their wake. Because she helped put the abuser away years before, the government assigns Janice to the task force ordered to hunt down the vigilante. Janice warns this case was controversial because of the judge’s ruling. After the new killing, it would only get worse.
Janice is furious because she and her team are hot on the trail of a rapist/killer who has been killing children every ninety days. She has one week to close the case and find the latest child, Ryan.
St. Anthony parish is having a family day to raise funds for an orphanage in the third world. A member of the group introduces a new family to Father Gilles, the parish priest, who takes an interest in the youngest girl, Rebecca. He takes a picture of the child. Later he downloads and prints the girl’s photo before turning to a monitor that has another child locked in a room. It’s Ryan.
Janice arrives home and searches the entire apartment with a drawn gun. She spends her night alone, searching the dark web for evidence or news of a child abduction. Then she finds it. A live video of Ryan in the same sealed room as the other victims. The countdown has begun.
Scenes of Janice’s past sexual abuse disturbs her sleep, but it gives insight to the stresses that she lives with and why she works so hard to put abusers away.
As predicted, the vigilante strikes again. This time they kill the judge in question in her own car.
Can Janice solve a case where the culprit knows her every move? And because of the horrors these child abusers leave in their wake, will she want to?

2.6 AG’s Story Summary
What I learned: This step finally resolved the problem that has kept me dithering for days — how to represent two lead characters who are present in each episode, in both young and old versions of their wisdom (or lack thereof).
SUMMARY
At 3 years old, Dottie Anne’s curiosity interrupts a solemn wedding procession with her high-pitched question: “Mommy, does brides have feets?”
At 4, she is intrigued by a weeping evangelist at a tent meeting revival and hurries to the altar to accept Jesus.
She will become a heavenly minded adolescent who protests the nonsense of sex roles and tries to convert her classmates’ rabbi. God is working out a plan for her to marry a smart seminarian, Phil, who could not possibly commit to someone so naïve. Yet, here they are, Anne and Phil, six decades later, pondering the stories and startling changes they have navigated together.

David Thompson’s Show Summary
What have I learned? I’d already written a book blurb for the book, and I’ve also crafted a pitch for when it was a movie script, but it really comes alive as a TV pitch summary.
Angels of Vengeance
One hour thriller
Small town cop, Dan Lanahan, is plunged into a world made up of mythological gods and monsters when he encounters a goddess of revenge, a Fury, during a tense stand-off at a local grocery store. A crazed man has a toddler at knifepoint, and a strange, beautiful woman appears to be taunting him. But, Dan is the only one who can see her.
Megaera is that beautiful woman, actually one of a trio of sister goddesses who exact revenge on behalf of souls who were murdered and who’s killer has escaped justice. Modern goddesses, they chase down their targets on custom motorcycles, and they display huge wings when ready to strike.
And she isn’t happy at being seen by a mortal. When she goes to confront Dan, with murderous intentions, she’s suddenly curious, and decides Dan is her next mortal lover. Dan is also love struck by the goddess.
That evening, Dan’s niece disappears after a college party, only to be found murdered, with strange markings disfiguring her face. The Furies’ mother, Gaia, tries to tell Dan what those symbols mean, but he rejects her claim of being a divine being who knows who the killer might be.
That killer is a man possessed by a demon, who is using the energy of these young women to regain strength to continue his plan to destroy the Furies and take control of the Underworld from Hades.
Angels of Vengeance is the tale of these sister goddesses, Dan’s relationship with Megaera, all set against the backdrop of impending civil war in the Underworld.

MODULE 2 – LESSON 6: OPENING SUMMARY
THAT SELLS THE SEASON“What I
learned doing this assignment is1. Choose the Summary Format you like best.
A. Pilot as Inciting Incident
B. Highlights of the Entire Season
C. Engage Us in the Main MysteryAnswer: Highlights of the Entire Season
2. Create an outline using this structure or something similar:
Season 1 – THE DO WELLS
(Setup)
School leaver (Expertise) Ishey Garfunk can’t find a job after the first week of completing his secondary education.
<b style=”background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>(Empathy/Distress) And his mother run a bakery at home. No one told him during the five years at Old Toms to see the bakery as a serious vocation. He dreamt of white and blue-collar jobs. His mother had ten mouths to feed and cloth. Ishey was son number nine looking for a job.
(Twist /Hook/Secret Identity) One night a meeting between him and a friend Brader Hu changed everything and his outlook on life.
Why night? It is because Ishey goes to watch film shows at Cameo cinema at the nearby Military barracks since 1970
Kung Fu buff (Expertise) Brader Hu faces life head-on like many and knows to take an opportunity when one strikes.
The odd jobs he endeavors to get daily are never specific and require strength and endurance. (Empathy/Distress) When the day closes, his wages vary as the teamleader negotiates the compensation package beforehand, and it is up to the customer who pays.
Hu, the only child, is the eldest in an extended family house of three sisters, supports his aged mother, ailing grandmother, and four girls, and gets little help from the sole male cousin.
(Twist /Hook/Secret Identity)One sunrise, a prospect presented itself that Hu noticed.
Why Sunrise? It is when Hu goes to the Trade Fair Center every weekday to look for jobs, and the exceptional Intelligence Organization sends two women on a covert mission.
One night after the film show, Ishey asked Hu for a job. Hu told Ishey to meet him for a job at the Ghana Trade Fair Site (GTF) the following morning.
Loveday Sebastian, Second-In-Command of The Do-Wells Organization, receives orders from Frank to scout for talent at the Trade Fair Center and recruits a handful of spies, as three have recently died in Algeria and Yemen. The President, AC, gets orders to help her. Hu loves attractive women.
The women know one of Ferdinand Chopstones’ loyal followers frequents the Center. Who is Chopstones?
The shrill referee’s whistle sound surprised the beauties off guard on the first floor of the Administrative block. They spurned around to see Hu and another job seeker involved in a proficient and delicate Kung Fu fight on one of the long vehicles parked on the streets.
That Talent is what the organization is looking for. The struggle was to secure eighth and final place…..
Loveday gauges Hu’s interest in spying and later talks to Maria, the best driver, working on a psychological profile of Hu. They discuss their following line of action – a cold approach.
(Mystery )Jealous, Loveday plans to test Hu’s readiness to fight using surprise.
But AC who knows nothing about the plot arrives at Headquarters and calls for the fight to stop. She lies, saying that she wants to stop the war because she disapproves of it as President when she’s just protecting her boyfriend.
Hu asks Coach Ishey Garfunk to train him.
AC takes Hu on tour of the Camp ending at Kung Fu Arenas 1 and 2 completed. At Arena 1, AC stops by the edge of the bottomless pit and turns to face Hu.
He slows down, learns from others, and starts to trust. He accepts help, he accepts love, and he admits he must leave the communal Den.
Chopstones kicks and stamps till the sweating Hu dangles on the one hand. AC hides her face. Close to death, Hu makes an effort by moving along the bar into the open, where Chopstones is waiting.
In the Control room, the Technician starts the Poles cauldron. One hundred and forty-four poles spread out above the bar lattice. Sixteen are false. No one has a clue what will send them to their deaths.
<b style=”background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit;”>(Twist /Hook/Secret Identity) Hu collapses in the backseat. AC sees he is tired but later discovers it’s a severe medical problem and tells Maria to head to the doctor.

BETWEEN LIVES
One Hour Supernatural Thriller
(Set Up) High-school senior, Caleb Sutherland, is anything but a normal teenager. His mother is a world-famous painter: rich, eccentric, self-absorbed. His absentee father, a roughneck on oil rigs; his older brother thinks Caleb is certifiable. (Empathy/Distress). The family exhibits preternatural abilities and are aware a supernatural realm exists and the (Twist/Hook/Secret Identity) inhabitants are at odds, making for a multi-layered concept for them to act within. (Intriguing World)
Act one begins “in the middle” of something implying there is an element of mystery to the timeline and the events leading up to Caleb’s abduction are as important as the ones that follow. (Intrigue)
The Sutherlands’ move to Colorado sets in motion a chain of events beginning with Caleb meeting Victoria, whose compassion for strays and love of life wins him over. (Relationship Hook)
Unfortunately, Victoria’s ex boyfriend murders her. (Shocking Event/ Undeserved Misfortune) Caleb becomes a ‘person of interest’ in Victoria’s disappearance. It is made worse by the fact a branch of Homeland Security “know” about Caleb’s teleportation powers and begin hunting him. (Undeserved Misfortune)
On the run, from the authorities, from a broken heart, Caleb obsessively searches Purgatory for Victoria (Coping Mechanism). He learns the Necromancers have arrived on earth and plan to enslave and turn mankind into livestock. (Open Loops) Caleb, his dysfunctional family, and warring supernatural factions must come together, find a way to defeat the shape-shifting nasties while staying one step ahead of the law and the military. (Forced decision they’d never make).
Vastly outnumbered, Caleb’s family, factions from Purgatory, and others must work together to eradicate the Necromancers or die. (Impossible Goal)
How does a dysfunctional family of headstrong psychics unite to save themselves, mankind, and prevent Purgatory, a supernatural realm, from being annihilated at the hands of the Necromancers? (Final Hook/Extreme Dramatic Question)

Syd’s Show Summary M2_L6
5. What I learned doing this assignment is a solid methodology for crafting and opening summary (though, admittedly, I still have some work to do).
1. Choose the Summary Format: B. Highlights of Entire Season
2. Create an outline using this structure or something similar:
Set up — Character’s normal situation: Low-born girl lives at court with the favor of the queen (secret machinations of her mother). The queen wants to arrange a marriage, Charita exploits this relationship to create a career or business for herself.
Twist/Hook: She becomes a prime suspect when the infant crown prince is kidnapped. State secrets and crown jewels are also taken. They are found in her room.
Real situation – Major Empathy / Distress: Who’s her hidden enemy — Rajendra, the king’s former heir or is it a trade partner — the Portuguese or Chinese
Twist/Hook: Charita was falsely accused of taking the queen’s jewels, but eventually, circumstances force her take them.
Impossible to solve conflict or major mystery: The king is assassinated — she helps the queen and infant crown prince escape.
Final Hook into the Series – Extreme Dramatic Question: How does a woman without power and family not only survive, but restore the Infant Crown Prince to the Golden City throne? She’ll become part of a network of Mughal Empire spies to gain both leverage and wealth. But is she working for the enemy?3. Turn it into a rough draft.
4. Return to your Binge Worthy Framework and add any of the key Binge Worthy components that will elevate the intrigue while working for the flow of the summary.

Irony<div>A low-born girl, Charita, lives at court by the grace of Queen Vanhi. Some believe her good fortune a happy accident while others attribute it to divine intervention. Charita knows that her mother’s secret manipulations deserve the credit. Believed by most to be deceased, her mysterious mother came from a Mughal court, with knowledge of the Empire that rules over Golden City and many other principalities. She gave Charita the gift of dreaming — and so she does. She aspires to choose her own future, leveraging her royal relationship, to create a business, live as an artist and love whom she will love. Most mock her efforts to make money, while the queen plans to choose an appropriate husband for her. She clings to her resolve, but conceals her endeavors to avoid their interference.
Suddenly, kidnappers slay royal guards and take the infant crown prince. The brazen act throws the entire principality into turmoil. The king blames General Veer for the security breach. Clearly, it was an inside job. King Abzar’s cousin / advisor, Anala, suspects the queen, herself. She questions the Queen Vanhi’s ties to the empire and her suspicious friendship with the dubious Bhadrabahu, a playboy from the Mughal courts. The general launches a manhunt for the perpetrators, aware that the wealthy trade city has a long list of suspicious persons who could benefit from such a bold crime.
The child is found safe — in Charita’s room. Charita had access within the well-guarded palace fort and becomes a prime suspect. She’s thrown into the dungeon. The queen comes to her defense and the king believes its obviously a set up — it’s enough to get her released, but the stink of suspicion stays with her.
The kidnapping, however, turns out to be only a diversion, to cover the theft of diplomatic documents and precious jewels. The evidence against Charita proves damning when Anala discovers jewels in Charita’s room. Veer believes that the jewels were planted, King Abzar has more dubious friends who would want the stolen information, including Portuguese and Chinese traders, and even the Mughals, themselves. But Anala notes that the young woman demonstrates an obsession with wealth. To prove her innocence, Charita launches her own investigation, leading her to the alluring prostitute, Damyanti, who has gained access to the palace fort’s maze of secret tunnels via Veer’s own royal guards.
Charita discovers that Rajendra, the king’s exiled cousin, has detailed knowledge of the maze. Rajendra was heir to the throne before the widowed king decided to remarry. On hearing this, Veer rushes to King Abzar’s side. What he finds will force the queen and her infant son to go on the run. General Veer is arrested and condemned. With the Golden City in chaos, Charita makes a dangerous deal with the Mughal Amir — she’ll become his spy in the Empire in exchange for the queen’s and the prince’s protection. Charita wants them safe. She also has her own agenda, but did she just make a deal with the enemy.

Wayne’s Show Summary
What I learned doing this assignment is that I can synopsize the most intriguing elements of the first two episodes to maximize interest without many details.
Choose the Summary Format
I choose “Pilot as Inciting Incident” but include Episode 2 as necessary.Create an outline using this structure or something similar:
1. Set up — Character’s normal situation
Mike, an astronaut headed to explore the closest inhabitable planet to earth, 6.2-lightyears away, expects to start a family when he returns in 13-years.
Desae, a humanoid single mother of a 2-year-old who was exiled from her society, subsistence farms on the edge of civilization and see’s Mike’s ship streak in overhead.2. Twist/Hook
The transfer valve on Mike’s ship is hit by a meter as it approached the planet forcing him to crash land with no hope of returning to earth. Desae saves him, brings his unconscious body home to nurse him back to health.3. Real situation – Major Empathy / Distress
Security Force leader, Amixmu, relentlessly searches to the “alien invader.” Therefore, Mike’s presence endangers Desae and her son, Nome. However, survival in the wilderness is unlikely, and turning himself in, he will surely be incarcerated and tortured.4. Twist/Hook
Desae deceives Amixmu as Nome hides him in order that he may stay with them, alive and well.5. Impossible to solve conflict or major mystery.
Mike can not possibly return to Earth and have the family he’d intended. He seeks his only companion, the ship’s AI computer, nicknamed HAL.6. Final Hook into the Series – Extreme Dramatic Question
In their attempt to retrieve the AI, Mike and Desae are cornered by the computer scientist who’s been trying fruitlessly to analyze or operate the AI. As he’s about to sound the security alert, HAL, the AI, speaks in perfect Romali, “Is there anything I can say to resolve this situation?”Turn it into a rough draft.
ASTRONOMICAL ATTRACTIONS
TV series, Romantic Adventure
Major Michael Barrington, on a 13-year mission to explore the closest inhabitable planet, 6.2-lightyears from Earth, finds himself stranded there with no possible return. A humanoid woman, Desae, has been exiled to subsistence farm on the edge of civilization for having a child out of wedlock, now 2-years-old. She sees Mike’s ship descending overhead and follows it on her tractor to the crash site, where she saves him and carries his unconscious body home. Their immediate fear of each other quickly turns to friendship including her son, Nome. As Mike learns more about the planet Romal, he realizes he has 3 bad choices, 1) remain with Desae which endangers her and her son as the ruthless Security Force searches for him, 2) near certainly death in the treacherous wilderness, or 3) turn himself in to authorities, who will torture him as an alien invader.
Desae convinces him to stay.
When never seeing earth again overwhelms Mike with depression, they console him and become the family he would never have on Earth. Meanwhile the ruthless Security Force leader, Amixmu is duty bound to capture the alien invader. When Mike attempts to communicate with authorities, it backfires, causing them to believe he is a scout for an immanent invasion. Mike needs HAL, his ship’s AI, to help negotiate the situation, but they find the ship has been taken, now the centerpiece of the new Alien Invasion Museum. Mike and Desae sneak into the computer lab after hours, where Romal’s leading scientist has been unable to get the AI to respond. When they find HAL, the scientist corners them and is about to sound the security alarm, when HAL speaks in perfect Romali, “Is there anything I can say to resolve this situation?” (to be continued) -
