    Module 5 Lesson 8: Finish Act 2

Marguerite Langstaff: THE BILLIONAIRE IN 501

VISION: I want to learn to write and market movie scripts.

What I learned from doing this assignment was that when ideas enter my brain about my script I really can’t use them until I have them down on paper in some way. I’ve already learned that my outline was inadequate. I also have learned that I can’t really enjoy the rest of my day until I’ve done at least 6 pages. I also realize that I am eager to get to the next few drafts to improve my draft, because as Hal has said…a lot of this I’m doing is crap. I also realize that I want to get on with some earlier scripts I’ve done so that I can improve them. That’s a lot of learning…by doing.

State/Activity: It really is possible to have control of my creative processes.

    Margaret’s Completed Act 2

Vision: To be the best faith-based screenwriter

Progress: I finished Act 2! I learned that speed writing is helpful for letting the characters speak for themselves. I’m not stopping to think about what would be the best thing to say.

    WIM Module 5, Lesson 8

    Lenore Bechtel Completed Act Two

My vision: I want to create enough salable screenplays that an agent will want to market my work and recommend me for writing assignments.

What I learned from doing this assignment is that I’m never sure when I’ve written enough to equal the actual assignment. I completed the entire first draft of Berlin Rendezvous? Several lessons ago, and am now on my own following my thriller outline for Dire Expectations.

I’m now on page 52, so I think I’ve completed enough to call it Act Two. My thriller outline is not divided by acts.

Anyway, yesterday I wrote 12 pages in 3 hours, 7 minutes. Today I wrote 4 pages in 1 hour, 8 minutes this morning. This afternoon I wrote 15 pages in 3 hours, 4 minutes.

This output is definitely speed writing for me, but I know I have lots of cleaning up to do.

My goal of finishing a first draft of a second screenplay while doing Module 5 seems possible. Very gratifying!

    Veronica Turowski’s Completed Act 2

My Vision: I want to be a successful writer who writes several scripts yearly and then sells them to producers who create my vision for the big screen.

What I learned from doing this assignment is the script is moving along much better than I anticipated. I thoroughly enjoy taking the time to write every day, but for the next three weeks, there will be times I will be traveling all day and not able to write.

    Alyssa Completed Act 2

One Sentence Vision: To be the best writer I can be and a go-to writer in the industry, crafting scripts that become successful movies and make a lasting impact on people.

Finally finished act 2 and hit my midpoint! It’s hitting a little earlier than I’d like (re: page count), but I have some gaps in the first two acts that, once filled in, should push me to the 50ish page mark. I know it’s not about exact page numbers, but I do want this moment to end up about halfway through so that’s something I’ll keep any eye on for my second draft.

    Melissa Barreca’s Completed Act 2

My vision: Melissa Barreca is one of the most sought after writers in the movie industry because of the artistry of her writing, professionalism and exceptional ability to tell important, entertaining, joyful, and heartbreaking stories that inspire audiences and become legendary classics.

What I learned from doing this assignment is/How it’s going:

The writing is going well. I have been able to crank out lots of scenes on demand, probably more than ever before. Looking forward to working on ACT 3 and 4 and even more looking forward to editing future drafts and elevating this story.

    Adrienne – Completed Act 2 Module 5 Lesson 8

My Vision: I am going to work as hard as I reasonably am able to succeed at script writing to be recognized by multiple movie producers as a skilled script writer, and to have my scripts produced worldwide.

What I have learned from this assignment, I can always correct my draft but keep writing.

I like my positive thinking, brainstorming, and idea of timing.. When writing 6-10 pages a day, that is progress. And I can have fun.
