What I learned in lesson 8: That lesson 7 and 8 are very vital in making a show unique and exciting. I had to give it an extra prompt to give me the required information, but at least now it seems to be moving forward a little. I also added a little to the concept to maybe give it some new ground, and gave it permission to also add more characters if it liked.

And I feel like I am doing a little bit better as getting responses from AI, and it makes me think. I see the trajectory of my show changing somewhat with these responses from this exercise, but I haven’t totally figured it out, so I gave my answers and then some AI brainstorms.

What I learned from the lesson is that AI can really help with unearthing deeper ideas. Since the last assignment, I had an epiphany about how to deepen the mysteries of my concept. Now I have a new way into this story and was excited to see what AI would come up with. What I learned was that sometimes I have to go back to the idea I had at the start. AI just wasn’t coming up with mysteries that I connected to. I got a lot of practice tweaking the prompt to get different ideas from AI, but I preferred the idea I had which is simpler than AI’s suggestions but is still an intriguing mystery.

What I learned – to create a mystery that will hook and engage the audience; that the mystery is not revealed until either the end of the season or the entire show – cool! And, when we create/craft a mystery worth solving we create audience obsession – binge worthy, baby!

Inviting obsession is a 3-way of – mystery, open loops, and plot layers – they go into EVERY episode to create obsessive magic. We are taking this show to Vegas! 2 types of mystery – one hits you with intrigue right out of the starting gate. The other is a slow burn, a creepier that emerges over time and sucks you in and keeps you glued to the screen. And, together they create obsession;

Assignment 1: Wednesday

Mystery Type 1: Who is killing people in the woods? Sheriff believes it is an outcast from Nevermore. Who is trying to kill Wednesday, why did the monster save her, is her father a murderer, and will she be the harbinger of destruction according to a vision and prophecy from Rowan’s mother.

What I learned doing this assignment: It’s interesting trying to tease out the different players in the over-time mystery. It all ties back to Max, but I don’t know how much to parse out and when. It will be an interesting journey to explore as we move forward.

Mystery 1: Opening Shocking Event Mystery

A. Shocking Event: A 3D-printed drone, equipped with a camera and a homemade explosive device, flies into the campus health center, causing a devastating explosion. Two people are critically injured, and five others suffer wounds.

B. Secret: The 3D-printed drone used in the attack was developed by a student who was coerced by an unknown individual or group. The mastermind behind the attack has a broader agenda tied to the incel blackpill killings, aiming to create chaos and amplify the fear within the college community.

C. Investigation: Ash and Byron delve into the wreckage of the health center, discovering the remnants of the drone and its explosive payload. They find a cryptic message left behind, hinting at a connection to the incel blackpill community. How: Forcing a quick end to the investigation after the bomber is caught, so things can go back to normal and people can “heal”

Who: MV is the terrorist behind everything. He’s blackmailed Deputy Chief, Dr. Harper, and the University Provost.

What: working together to “wrap up” the investigation for their own ends (Harper wants to publish his findings, Provost wants school back to normal, officer is being blackmailed.)

Why: MV wants revenge on a group of kids who stood by and witnessed him being humiliated when they were all students at the university. He plans to take them out one at a time. Harper wants to advance his career, and the Univeristy Provost wants to be able to say its safe to send your kids back to school, case is closed.
