Nadine Weathersby Profiles People Lesson 3
Title: Nadine Weathersby Profiles People Lesson 3
What I’ve learned that in improving my writing is that I need to really understand the core traits of each character and demonstrate them with consistency in reflection in their dialog and actions.
Person 1 – Long term grade school friend:
a) Very friendly (will start a conversation with strangers)
b) Complains a lot*
c) Nosy*
d) Can’t honor a commitment, * she would invite herself to events with me, or invite me to a lunch, then cancels at the last minute, saying “something came up.
She invited me recently to have lunch with her and cancelled. When she tried to re-schedule, I told her that I was hesitant to schedule a lunch because I have a lot on my plate and that my schedule is tight. I attempted to tell her when you make a plan you block off that time, and don’t let something come up. She never apologized. She still thinks this is acceptable. I’ve declined her attempts to get with me. She saw on FB that I won a script writing contest and texted me asking if I’m safe, but also asked about the contest. I said that I was safe but did not answer her nosy question about my script.
Person 2 – We graduated from Ministerial School together
a) Most compassionate man I know
b) Funny
c) Generous
d) Unfaithful*
This friend is not only generous with his time and attention to those in need, but will often share with me things about his sex life, like how he feels the need to go sometimes outside of the relationship with his partner. Lately, due to the pandemic, this seems to have changed. I won’t know if there is a change until the shut down and stay at home orders are rescinded.
Person 3 – Friend I known for 23 years – and recently reconnected through FB.
a) Passionate about cars and collecting them
b) dishonest*
c) Always running late – no since of urgency or commitment to a designated time.
d) Very quiet, unless it’s a subject about cars or sex
Recently his 9-year-old daughter did an application on my computer and it changed some of my settings. I asked him in a text to ask her to call me so she could tell me exactly what she did. Instead, he said I will call and ask her. He called back and said she said she went into word and that’s all. When they came over, I invited her and him into the bedroom to look at the computer together. When I asked her what she did, she told me that she added Foxfire browser. I said “oh, because if you went into word there would be a history.” Nervously, he said “You I didn’t ask the right questions.” On another day when he wasn’t around, I asked her did she tell her day that she went into word, and she said “no I told him Foxfire.” to date, no changes in traits.
*traits that annoy me
