Module 2 Lesson 6 Show Summary
Tracy El Pueblo
What I learned doing this assignment is it was harder than I thought! I’m not sure this summary does what it’s supposed to, but I expect to get better at this.

Antonia is a mixed-race girl, born of a new people dubbed the Californios.
Despite her grandmother being a marriage broker, Antonia manages to escape unions with old widowed ranchers or soldiers she despises. They want a virginal young second wife. Antonia yearns for the impossible — desire. And then in one pivotal year, the impossible happens! Four virile young men, sailing from different corners of the world, end up in El Pueblo.
Two of the men are of the Spanish empire, escaping opposite sides of the war for independence raging across Mexico. The young Catholic priest, with a hidden Jewish heritage, supports the insurgency. The elegant, but penniless clerk, is a criollo royalist. This series is based on the true story of the first illegal immigrants in Los Angeles, American pirates. One black. One white. What happened when the brown Spanish villagers allowed these enemy outsiders to stay?

Module 2 Assignment 6
Jack’s Show Summary
What I learned from this assignment is that having a template for the first page of the pitch bible makes it much easier to get the important information front and center.
1. Choose Summary Format – Highlights of Entire Season
ROUGH DRAFT OF FIRST PAGE
CONCEIVED, a one-hour dramatic series.
SEASON LOGLINE: A royal-blooded wealth fund manager and her American lover freeze their eggs for future fertilization, but the eggs are switched when the lawyer wants to prove her point that nurture, not nature, determines one’s future. However, the owner of the gene-editing and cryogenics lab where the eggs are stored hatches his own plan for their genes.
PILOT LOGLINE: Two professional women from diverse backgrounds freeze their eggs at the cryogenics lab of the world’s leading gene-editing scientist who is also the leader of an ancient Druid cult.
This is the story of the unraveling of the lives of three sets of parents and their children who grow up not knowing who they really are. Two strong female leads of opposite pedigree meet and become lovers. KAYLA HITCH, late 20’s, is an environmental lawyer of mixed race who is all natural, not tech-savvy or good with money. VICTORIA CROMWELL, 30’s, is lilly white, of royal blood, and runs a hedge fund that includes some of the Queen’s wealth, piloting her own Learjet around the world with her copilot and bodyguard CHARLES, 40’s. Kayla wants to halt the emergence of red tide on Florida’s beaches and save the Everglades while Victoria wants to halt the security breaches in her accounts and keep and grow the fund she manages. At the end of the pilot episode, the two women freeze their eggs so that they may have children with surrogate mothers. The antagonist, PROFESSOR MATTHEWS, 50’s, owns the cryogenics and gene-editing lab where the eggs are stored. He hatches a plan to use Victoria’s eggs to create his own royal-blooded child. The one-hour drama pilot is ripe with original ideas concerning the question of what part genes play in determining one’s soul. Nature versus Nurture in the 21st century.
Professor Matthews is a leader of the Druid community in England and is the keeper of the skull of Bran The Blessed, an eighth century king who was killed in Ireland in battle. Because the Druids believe the soul resides in the head, not the heart, his head was brought back to England as protection against invasion, and handed down over the ages. The professor is one of the world’s leading gene editing and embryo enhancement specialists and believes he can use DNA from the skull to enhance his own genes, along with Victoria’s, which he intends to secretly use, to create a great royal-blooded Druid leader.
However, because Kayla believes she was shunned by Victoria’s parents because of her race, she switches the nametags on the eggs so that Victoria and Professor Matthews will actually be raising two children whose biological mother is Kayla and Kayla will be raising Victoria’s.
To further prove her case that environment, not genetic make up, is the determining factor in personality, Kayla chooses her client, Billy Osceola, shaman of the Ayes Indian tribe in the Everglades, as the father, and his daughter Windy Moon as the surrogate mother of Victoria’s royal-blooded child. Kayla represents the tribe in a lawsuit against the sugarcane king, ADOLPHO RAMIREZ, 50’s, who is opening a new sugarcane processing plant. At a protest during the opening ceremony at the plant, Billy is arrested, but released with the help of the attorney opposing Kayla, SIR GEORGE TOWNSEND, 30’s, who is also the man chosen by Victoria to be the biological father of her child, but sexually interested in Kayla. Upset by the release of Billy, Adolpho’s Haitian wife, MICHELINE, 40’s, who practices voodoo, places a curse on Kayla and Billy Osceola, forcing them to engage in activities opposite their nature.
Victoria’s bodyguard Charles, described by her as a modern example of Chaucer’s “strong and true, yet gentle knight” in The Canterberry Tales, is actually a spy for Chinese hackers who want to blackmail Victoria so that Chinese ownership of certain ports around the world will be advocated by her in her investments. Normally risk averse, Victoria is forced into risky and dangerous investments to keep the theft of funds from being discovered.
Kayla seduces Sir George and retains his sperm to be combined with Victoria’s eggs to create the embryo for surrogate mother Windy Moon, although Billy Osceola thinks he is the biological father. Instead, he is the biological father of the child Victoria will raise in England because Kayla gave Billy’s sperm to Sir George telling him it was his after they had sex.
In the cliffhanger at the end of the first season, three children are born:
1. A boy later known as Python Jack (a modern Tarzan character) – Victoria and Sir George’s biological son, to be raised by Billy Osceola and this daughter Windy Moon in the Everglades. Billy is not aware the child he is raising is not his and that he has a daughter in England.
2. Katherine, Kayla and Billy Osceola’s biological daughter, is raised in England by Victoria’s parents to be worthy of being married into the royal family. They think the child is Victoria’s and Sir George’s.
3. A girl later known as Dana The Celtic Princess – Kayla and Professor Matthews’ biological daughter with DNA from Bran The Blessed, raised by the professor and his daughter Bryony, who think the biological mother is Victoria, not Kayla.

R. Reid Jr. Show Summary
“What I learned doing this assignment is how my work is organized from my BW frame work and some of it might look like repetition but may help us look very organized in a pitch meeting if a producer or executive asks us about this or other documents. It is definitely worth it to do this and draw from previous work and always keep creating.”
ENGAGE US IN THE MAIN MYSTERY:
SIGMA 2619
Our main character is sent to SIGMA 2619, the name given in the celestial year of 2619, we simple know it as Earth. Our main character has a simple task to bring back stolen TECH. The reports about what it does exactly is not known. But the TECH if left on Earth can be used to test on humans on this planet and do irreversible damage. The deadline of about 2 moon cycles is real or the home world of Bruce will be brutalized.
He is dispatched to SIGMA 2619 by portal but told his memory maybe foggy from an aftereffect of space travel by portal. Bruce arriving with skills to keep himself hidden comes with him. He goes after the TECH by tracing its residue left after being used. Only tracing its residue proves impossible to find the TECH.
But after following two people who are investigating the scene who are given high access he overhears there might have been a woman seen at places close by where these “incidents” of people loosing their memory have taken place.
Bruce follows the clues to the first place where it was thought this mysterious woman first appeared in a local college bar. In not knowing the effect of the earth drink alcohol and blunt mixed together, Bruce is challenged to deal with these substances that take him on a journey in his mind, like a waking dream. It appears he is just high and a little drunk only the mysterious woman appears in his dream and tells him a warning that he is the one who sent the TECH to earth in the first place and that his mind has been erased. And he is hunting down the people he sent to hid this tech in the first place and this ends the pilot. Bruce wakes up hungover, a stranger in a strange land and not knowing who to trust or who is real.
2. Create an outline using this structure or something similar:
i)Set up — (Character’s normal situation) The normal situation is not clear because the main character arrives on earth-kind of a blank slate with flashbacks slowly knowing little of where he is from or even if he is a good guy or a bad guy.

ii)Twist/Hook- he might be the enemy he is hunting when under the influence is told he is the one that gave the order to hid the TECH he is looking for.
iii) (The Real situation – Major Empathy / Distress) He is really a fish out of water not knowing the customs on earth as he is hunting an item he calls, THE TECH.
iv) Twist/Hook- the people he maybe hunting are possibly people he sent to SIGMA 2619/Earth to hide the tech.
v) (Impossible to solve conflict or major mystery). Who is the mysterious woman everyone is searching for?
vi)( Final Hook into the Series – Extreme Dramatic Question) While under the influence the Mysterious woman tells him that he sent THE TECH to earth to hide it and he shouldn’t be hunting the people sent to keep THE TECH safe.
3) rough draft of the outline
An alien is sent to earth and doesn’t know who to trust as he hunts for THE TECH, a technology that needs to be retrieved from dangerous people who may be using it to control the minds of humans, giving them skills to rob banks and wiping their minds when they are caught. A mysterious woman is accidentally discovered near and around each one of these incidents by a pair agents who are hot on her trail only they don’t know her next move.
As Bruce takes on SIGMA 2619’s custom he is tracing the residue left after THE TECH is used that leads him to a bar where he tries to take on local SIGMA 2619 habits, but this night is unlike any other with Bruce as he faces a college frosh week challenge and thinks he can outdrink humans in a human body without eating for two days that quickly falls flat and mixing in a state-allowed marijuana blunt called the “super” Susan result in a wacky trip into Bruce subconscious where the woman he is hunting stands next to him but being under the influence he thinks it is a dream never drank or smoked before that he is really the person who had THE TECH to start with and he sent this mysterious woman to get it.
Hearing a pounding he wakes up in a girl’s frat dorm not knowing what was real and what was not real. And outside the agents he was following that gave him the info about the Mysterious woman are now knocking outside the frat dorm he has woken up in. This is the end of the first season/pilot.

Janeen’s Show Summary
Highlights of Entire Season model:
The Campion Farm
One Hour Dramedy series
Mike Campion loved only three women in his life: his next door neighbor Molly; his soulmate Cara; and his wife Mindy who Cara introduced to him. Only Cara is still alive.
Cara is a successful mind control practitioner in LA. Her biological clock is ticking so loudly it’s all she can hear. Cara has just become the executor of Mike and Mindy’s estate.
After Mike dumped his first love, Molly, years ago, she married his best friend, Jim Walrath, on the rebound. Jim married Molly for her land and always thought his son, Hunter, was probably Mike’s. Last summer, Molly drove into a train at a crossing about a mile from their house. Police found a suicide note on her computer.
Last Thanksgiving, Mike and Mindy updated their will leaving Cara in charge until their 11-year-old boy/girl twins are of age. At Christmas, Mindy whispered about premonitions of her own death. On New Year’s Eve, Mike and Mindy plowed right into a freight train — didn’t even try to stop — at the very same crossing where Molly had died.
Randi Campion, Mike’s mom, is a widow and a farmer who lost her favorite son and found out a couple of months ago that she has early onset Alzheimer’s. Only Mindy knew about it. Randi knows Alzheimer’s will leave her incapacitated. She’s already struggling.
The Campion farm is land rich and cash poor. Randi thinks the twins and Hunter can help Cara run the equipment, but Cara needs to learn about the climate change mitigation and carbon sequestration money the farm can earn. Most of all, Randi needs to convince Cara to use her mind control techniques to influence people, crops, animals, and finances in the farm’s favor — like Mindy did.
Cara’s more concerned with her ticking clock. The only man who catches her eye is Molly’s widower, Jim, who wrote Molly’s suicide note just minutes after her untimely demise.

1. Choose the Summary Format you like best.
Pilot as Inciting Incident
2. Create an outline using this structure or something similar:

Sharra Lane is an accountant with perfect memory. It’s a gift and a curse. Like now, when she discovers her boss is embezzling money and she confronts him. Threats don’t scare her. But the thug sent to roughen her up does. She needs to escape but has no one. Or so she thinks.
Someone is watching her. It’s Tanner, a man from Colonial Philadelphia now dressed as a government agent.
Tanner gives Sharra a business card and an invitation to interview for a position with Vault Agency. She touches the logo and feels a small electrical charge. It’s weird. So is the recruitment interview with Lazarus Maitland, the Head Director. She has three days to decide. Lazarus has a note addressed to himself saying it’s essential Sharra is recruited but it comes with consequences. It’s signed with his own name.
Sharra researches Vault Agency and comes up with nothing. They don’t exist.
It’s day three. A letter arrives; she is being sued by her old boss. That, and a mugging gone bad sees Sharra back at Lazarus’ office being cared for by a Vault doctor while Tanner is sent after the stolen contract.
Meanwhile, Faolan, a rogue agent hiding in 1825 London, for unknown reasons, returns to the Vault to gather intel on Sharra. It sends him to the Vault office building in NYC where he recovers the contract from the thug, and with the man’s driver’s license, breaks into his home and discovers the attacks on Sharra are coming from someone inside the agency.
With a crooked boss on one side and a mysterious agency on the other, Sharra must brave the unknown to survive. And the first step is when Lazarus takes her hand and they both vanish.
What is Vault Agency? Who within its ranks wants her dead and why. What secrets is Lazarus not telling Sharra?

Rob’s Show Summary
What I learned doing this assignment is the value of writing a synopsis of the whole story out in full sentences and paragraphs to find the through line and exclude distracting details. It helps to focus all of the disparate elements, give it a skeleton, and establish better what belongs and what doesn’t.
C. Engage Us in the Main Mystery
Title: Mirage
Format: 1 hour supernatural mystery
An ancient spirit, without flesh or substance, lives in secret amongst mortals in a 21st century metropolis. He can pass through solid matter and is invulnerable to normal weapons. Drawn to thwart criminals and assist those in distress, he develops a reputation as a mysterious hero and vigilante. His face cannot be captured on camera, earning him the moniker “The Mirage”.
The Mirage has no memory of his origins, or understanding of why he exists in spirit form. Though he appears human, his touch is repulsive to the living, leading to isolation and loneliness. Weary of immortality and his incapacity for physical intimacy, The Mirage desperately seeks a way to become human.
Only one person knows his secret – 80-year-old Madeleine, whom he befriended when she was a child. But Madeleine is dying, and The Mirage fears the impending loss of his sole friend and confidante more than that of the dozens of acquaintances he has outlived over the centuries.
The Mirage rescues a tough young woman, Julia Lockhart, from an attack by a powerful demon, and discovers that she holds the key to unlocking his memories. We learn of a dark underbelly of demonic beings who have infiltrated society and prey upon humans. The Mirage, who can see through the demons’ human disguises, has battled and eluded them for as long as he can remember. Now they are led by the mysterious archaeologist Vincent Chamberlain, who is obsessed with destroying the Mirage and stealing his immortality for himself.
Also hunting The Mirage is Detective Brendan White, a by-the-book cop with a skepticism about all things supernatural. Deeply resentful of The Mirage’s unorthodox approach to crime-fighting, Detective White hunts The Mirage with a view to capturing him and exposing him as a fraud.
Vincent sends his demons to kidnap Madeleine, drawing The Mirage into a trap. But thwarted in his attempts to interrogate The Mirage about his powers and immortality, Vincent murders Madeleine out of spite. Empowered by rage, the Mirage escapes from Vincent’s trap and is about to exact revenge on his friend’s murderer, but relents at the last moment.
The demons turn on Vincent who discovers, too late, that he himself is merely a pawn in a far more sinister plot by the demons to destroy The Mirage and awaken from slumber their one true leader – the Lord of the Demons who can unleash an unstoppable demonic army upon the Earth.
The means of defeating the Demon Lord lies in The Mirage’s locked memories – memories that The Mirage learns he has hidden from himself for a reason. In a dramatic finale, The Mirage must overcome his reluctance to see the truth behind his immortality, and his unspeakable connection to the demons that have plagued him for centuries.
