WHITE JESUS – HORROR SITUATION TRACK
EXT. APARTMENT COMPLEX – DAY
A white van pulls up. Four men hop out that look identical.
2. INT. APARTMENT – DAY
Africa and son, Malik get prepared for their day. Knock on the door. Two men at the door.
Horror Situation: The men dominate the mother and summon the creature to feed on the son.
Apprehension – Weird men enter the house
Panic – Son tries to run
Terror – Creature places hand on son’s shoulder. Eats him.
3. INT. SCHOOL – NIGHT
PTA Meeting over Gabriel, an atheist, teaching science. Africa from first scene comes in carrying mangled body of Malik.
4. INT. FUNERAL HOME – DAY
Gabriel attends funeral of Malik. Some people acting weird. Intro to Pastor Charles Rutherford. Gabriel and Rutherford clash over ideology and Deon, Malik’s father asks him to leave.
5. INT. CLASSROOM – DAY
Gabriel teaches class. A student asks him about monsters. The student says they saw a monster. Gabriel assures him there are no monsters. Deon comes in and apologizes. He’s a changed man. When Gabriel tries to give him Malik’s belongings Deon falls apart.
6. EXT SCHOOL – DAY
After school there are parents looking for their child at school. Another child is missing.
7. INT. POLICE STATION – DAY
Gabriel and parents go to the police for help. Police with blank stares offer no help.
8. INT. FREEMAN HOME – NIGHT
That night Gabriel and Sierra discuss some of their weird things happening in their town. Gabriel decides to figure out what’s going on.
9. INT. CLASSROOM – DAY
Gabriel is teaching class when a parent comes to take their child out of class. They’re going to home school the child.
10. INT PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE – DAY
Gabriel follows the parent and child to the main office. Tries to persuade the parent not to take the child out of school. Loses. Gets read the riot act by the principal.
11. INT. HOME – AFTER SCHOOL
After school Gabriel drives to the parent’s house to try again to persuade the parent to let the child come back to school. The front door is open. The parent is sitting at the kitchen table singing “Jesus Loves Me”. Gabriel hears a noise in the back. Goes to the back and comes face to face with the creature feeding on the child. Runs. Tells the police but once again they’re no help. Omar gives Gabriel his card.
Horror Situation – Gabriel comes face to face with the creature.
Apprehension – Gabriel sees the door open and enters.
Fear – sees the child laying on the floor convulsing
Surprise – Sees the creature
12. INT. SCHOOL GIRL’S LOCKER ROOM – DAY
Eboni is dressing our for gym and the creature traps her in the locker room and grabs her.
Horror Situation – Gabriel’s daughter is snatched
Fear – Eboni hears a noise in an empty locker room
Suspense – She heads for the noise
Shock – Tries to run and runs into the creature
13. EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD
Gabriel and Sierra organize a search for their daughter. While looking in the nearby woods Gabriel is approached by Omar. Tries to tell him what’s going on.
14. INT. APARTMENT – NIGHT
RIANNA comes home from work and gets ready for bed. The creature feeds on her in her bed.
Horror situation – Creature kills another member of the community
Apprehension – while in bed TV turns on
Suspense – Investigates
Dread – Its under the bed
15. EXT. BASKETBALL COURT – NIGHT
TAVIAN is shooting hoops by himself. He’s practicing for the big game. He’s harassed by the police. Tavian tries to leave and walk home. The police continue to harass him and he runs. They herd him towards an alley. He’s trapped with the creature. The creature feeds on him.
Horror Situation – Police are working with the creature
Anxiety – Tavian is surrounded by police at night
Fear – The police threaten Tavian
Panic – Police chase Tavian into an alley.
16. INT. OMAR’S BOOKSHOP – NIGHT
Omar has organized and meeting with families. Tells them what’s really going on. Gabriel is present and finally tells someone he’s saw the monster. With this information they conclude that the taken kids are held at the Mega church founded by Charles Rutherford.
17. EXT. MEGA CHURCH – NIGHT
They rush over their and are confronted by most of the town at the megachurch. Most of the town are under its control. Sara rushes into the building. She’s overwhelmed and killed by the crowd. The crowd chases the remaining group (Gabriel, Sierra and Omar). They sneak into the back of the Megachurch.
Horror Situation – Sara rushes to save her kid and is killed by the crowd.
Anquish – Sara sees her son about to be sacrificed
Panic – Sara rushes to save her son by rushing into danger
Hysteria – The crowd grabs her and tears her apart.
18. INT. MEGACHURCH – NIGHT
They come face to face with Charles Rutherford leading a ceremony to feed grabbed kids to the creature. They see the creature. Gabriel and Sierra free Eboni and the other kids. Omar is revealed to be working with the creature. Lead them to their doom. Gabriel pushes Omar into the creature. Omar is killed.
Horror Situation – The family confronting the creature to save their daughter
Anquish – They saw what happened to Sara
Panic – They save their daughter and fend off the creature
Hysteria – Feeling helpless against an otherworldly being
19. EXT. MEGACHURCH – NIGHT
Gabriel, Sierra and Eboni get into their car and leave town. They’re chased by the town.
20. EXT. NEXT TOWN – NIGHT
Freeman family comes to the next town and find out that that town is under the control of the monster too.

What I learned doing this assignment is to focus on the emotions of the scene, plan them in order to naturally raise the stakes.
EXT. APARTMENT COMPLEX – LATER
Gabriel parks his car, gets out and looks at a notebook. He walks up to a building with a “7” on the side.
BUILDING 7 HALLWAY – CONTINUOUS
He approaches door number “24”. KNOCKS.
No answer.
KNOCKS again.
Still no answer.
He turns to leave when the door creaks open.
INT. WILLIAMS APARTMENT
Gabriel enters the dark apartment.
He flicks on a light revealing—
KEVIN WILLAMS (50’s) sitting at the kitchen table. He’s catatonic, rocks back and forth…
KEVIN WILLIAMS: “(whispered)—deliver us from evil, deliver us from evil, deliver us from evil, deliver us from evil—“
GABRIEL: “Hello? Mister Williams?”

Tears rush down his cheeks.
THUMP! Comes from the back. Gabriel turns to the noise, walks to it. Kevin stops talking. Eerie silence.
HALIMA’S ROOM
Gabriel stops at the closed door. Opens it slow. Reveals—
—Halima lies on the floor, convulsing.
He rushes to her side. Pulls out his cell phone. Shakes her.
GABRIEL: “Halima! Halima!”
They are near a wall length mirror on the closet door. He catches something out the corner of his eye in the mirror.
In the mirror is Gabriel and Halima and WHITE JESUS!
Pale skin, skeletal skinny, beard, red bleeding eyes. It’s mouth swings open to reveal a maw of jagged sharp teeth. It’s as if the Christian version of Jesus was interpreted by H. R. Giger.
Gabriel jumps back.
It’s not in the mirror. He glances around the room. Nothing. Stands. Nopes. Heads for the door when—
WHITE JESUS appears before him. Face to Face. It bares it’s mouth and hisses. Grab’s Gabriel. Gabriel passes out.

Alfred’s Scares, Releases and Creepy Moments
What I learned doing this assignment is to focus on the smaller scares and go big in each scene.
Scene:
INT. LOCKER ROOM – DAY
Eboni enters and heads for her locker. She’s the only one in the room. Unlocks it. Hears a noise coming from the shower area. Looks in that direction. Thinks about it. Goes back to what she’s doing.
Hears another noise. Heads for the shower room.
Becky pops up. Startles Eboni.
EBONI: “You scared me.”
Becky: “No need to be scared. We’re all friends here.”
Becky has a dead smile on her face.
EBONI: “We?”
Becky looks past Eboni. Eboni follows her eye line into White Jesus. It grabs her by the throat.

Alfred’s Level 3 Horror Emotions
I learned to think about using the ante with my horror scenes in the third act.
INT. MEGA CHURCH – DAY
This place is more like a stadium than a mega church. At the center of the stage stands Pastor Charles Rutherford. He preaches to the assembled crowds.
UPPER SEATS
Gabriel, Sierra, Omar and Sara duck below seats.
GABRIEL: “Keep an eye out for the kids.”
RUTHERFORD: “It is time for the sacrifice.”
Twelve children are ushered on to the stage, among them are Eboni and Quintavius.
SARA: “There’s my son!”
The others shush her.
The assembly begin singing “Jesus Loves Me”. White Jesus appears.
SARA: “What’s the plan?”
GABRIEL: “I don’t know.”
SARA: “Figure out something fast.”
White Jesus approaches a child, smiles at him. His jaw unhinges and reveals rows and rows of teeth. He lunges at the child and devours him. The other children, now chained to the stage, pull against their chains.
SARA: “No!”
Sara runs to the stairs leading downstairs. Omar grabs for her but she pushes his arm away.
SARA: “Let Go.”
On the first floor Sara runs down the aisle to the stage. Pastor Rutherford points at her. The assembly stands and rushes her. The hold her down. White Jesus wipes the blood off his mouth as he stare at her and approaches her son. He smiles at her and devours her son. In front of her eyes.

Alfred’s Level 2 Horror Emotions
What I learned doing this assignment is to focus on other emotions and to rethink scenes using them.
EXT. UPSCALE APARTMENT COMPLEX – DAY
A light blue Volvo pulls into an assigned parking spot.
RIANNA (30’s) exits the car. She’s clad in nurse’s scrubs, she’s getting home from a sixteen hour day. She’s exhausted.
Barely awake, she stumbles towards her front door. Fumbles with the keys. They drop.
RIANNA: “Fuck.”
She picks them up and opens her front door.
INT. RIANNA’S APARTMENT – SAME
She opens and closes her front door. Drops her keys and bag on the table and marches towards the bathroom.
She marches past the OPEN SLIDING DOOR.
BATHROOM
Rianna stares in the mirror, studying the bags under her eyes. Starts the shower.
POV
Something watches her.
BATHROOM
Rianna sees something in the reflection. Goes to the door of the bathroom. Sees…nothing.
Goes back to the shower. Puts her hand in the water. Just right. She strips and steps into the shower. The hot water steams up the bathroom.
She closes her eyes and goes under the stream of water.
Through the frosted glass of the shower we see a dark form rise.
She rubs shampoo in her hands and massages it her hair.
The dark form moves closer to the window. Demonic eyes watch Rianna as she showers.
She turns off the water and exits. The form is gone.
BEDROOM
Rianna, clad in pajamas, climbs into bed. She clicks on the television. After a few minutes she drifts off to sleep. The television flickers and turns off.
TURNS BACK ON SUPER LOUD!
She wakes up and stares at the television. She flicks it off with the remote control. Lays back down. It turns back on.
She sits back up. Rubs her eyes. What the fuck?
She gets up and turns it off. Waits a few seconds. Nothing. Goes back to bed.
Drifts off to sleep.
A HAND WITH A HOLE IN IT GRABS HER MOUTH!
From under the bed another hand punches through her chest. Flesh and blood shower her as she struggles to free herself. A fleshy appendage full of teeth reach over the head board and slither down towards her head.
CHOMP!
Her struggles stop. Hands fall dead to her side as we hear wet, chewing sounds.

What I learned doing this assignment is to think about the parts of writing a horror scene. Being able weave in apprehension, surprise and shock into scenes will be a big help going forward.
Apprehension – There are weird people in the neighborhood. Africa is suspicious of them.
Surprise – One of the pioneers grabs Africa. She convulses. A bloody hand rests on Malik’s shoulder.
Shock – White Jesus appears, devours Malik as his mother watches.
OPEN ON:
A painting. An image. Like a 19th century fresco of a caucasian Jesus holding a black sheep.
WIDEN TO SEE –
The painting is an accessory hanging from a rear view mirror.
WIDEN EVEN MORE –
A blank white van pulls to a stop.
EXT. APARTMENT COMPLEX – MORNING
The doors to the van slide open. A man steps out of the van whom we will call THE PIONEER. He’s white, clean shaven and blank faced. He’s dressed like s 60’s business man; business suit, fedora and briefcase.
The Pioneer glances over the neighborhood and nods to someone in the van. Another man steps out of the van that is the exact identical twin of the Pioneer.
The men walk in step towards a building as two more men, identical to the Pioneer step out of the van and head towards another building.
INT. APARTMENT – SAME
AFRICA (40’s) African American woman, fastens her ear rings as she opens the door to—
INT. BOYS ROOM
Posters of basketball players and video game characters line the walls. A mound of clothes sits in the middle of the room.
MALIK (13), sleeps, splayed out across the bed. He SNORES loud for a child his size.
Africa, his mom, shakes him.
AFRICA: “Malik, get up.”
Malik wipes the sleep from his eyes and sits up.
MALIK: “I don’t wanna go to school.”
AFRICA: “And I don’t want to go to this job but we both got to do what we have to do.”
Africa darts out of the room.
KNOCK KNOCK.
Malik peeks out of his room towards the front door. He heads for the door when a hand reaches out to grab his shoulder.
It’s Africa, his mom.
AFRICA: “Go get ready.”
Africa goes to the door. Opens it.
EXT. APARTMENT
The two Pioneers stand in the door. When the door opens the two men smile, creepily.
PIONEER: “Good morning, Do you have a moment to talk about Jesus?”
AFRICA: “No.”
INT. APARTMENT
Africa closes the door and heads back to the bathroom.
AFRICA: “I’m leaving in fifteen minutes.”
KITCHEN – FOURTEEN MINUTES LATER
Africa sits at the table sipping coffee. Malik enters dressed and ready for school.
MALIK: “Did you sign my permission slip for the museum trip?”
AFRICA: “I’m waiting to see what that report card is like.”
KNOCK KNOCK.
Africa marches towards the door.
AFRICA: “Why is everyone on my door this morning?”
Swings the door open. It’s the Pioneers again.
AFRICA: “Look I know you ain’t used to taking ‘no’ for an answer but we have our own church we go to.”
The Pioneer reaches out and touches her shoulder. We don’t see what’s happening.
She convulses. Coffee cup drops to the floor. Convulsions get more intense, get worse until…
The convulsions stop. Africa turns, blank stare on her face like the Pioneers. Her eyes and eye sockets are pitch black.
The three begin singing.
AFRICA: “Jesus loves me! This I know, For the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong; They are weak, but He is strong.”
PIONEERS: “Jesus loves me! This I know, For the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong; They are weak, but He is strong.”
Malik steps out. Confused.
MALIK: “Mom?”
They stop singing. Africa looks at her son, smiles creepy.
AFRICA: (speaking the lines) “Little ones to Him belong. They are weak. HE (points behind Malik) is strong.”
A hand rests on Malik’s shoulder. Chalky white with a bloody, fleshy see-through wound.
Malik turns and SCREAMS.
We focus on Africa as we hear Malik’s scream cut short. We push in to her as we hear flesh tearing and bones crunching. Blood splatters on her face. She sheds a single tear.

Alfred’s Horror Outline Version #1
What I learned doing this was to think about the story and convert the tracks into an actual a plot. it forced me to realign my story to fit with in the parameters of the story.
INT. APARTMENT – DAY
AFRICA and her son MALIK are getting ready for their day when strange men knock on the door. They ask if she has time to talk about Jesus. She says no and closes the door and goes back to getting ready. Another knock on the door and she marches to the door to give them a piece of her mind. One touches her and she becomes dominated. They sing “Jesus Loves Me”. Malik comes out of the bathroom and stares at the three adults. The adults stop singing and look behind Malik. A hand with a hole in it rests on Malik’s shoulder. He looks up and screams. Malik runs to the bathroom and locks himself in it. Again it appears behind him and chomps down on the boy.
EXT. SCHOOL – NIGHT
PTA/ School Board meeting. Some parents are concerned that an atheist is teaching their kids. We are introduced to GABRIEL FREEMAN (The teacher in question), SIERRA, his wife and EBONI, their daughter. We are also introduced to SARA, a mother and concerned parent. Her son TAVIAN and OMAR POPE, the owner of a local book store. During the meeting Africa carries the bloody and mangled body of Malik into the meeting.
INT. FUNERAL HOME – DAY
Gabriel and Sierra arrive at a wake for Malik. Several members of the family are already dominated. Gabriel talks to a distraught DEON, Malik’s father. We are introduced to CHARLES RUTHERFORD, pastor at the newest mega church. Gabriel and Charles clash over ideology and Gabriel is asked to leave by Deon.
INT. CLASSROOM – DAY
Gabriel is teaching in class. Notices one of his students is withdrawn. Talks to him after class. Student tells him he saw a monster. Gabriel assures him there are no monsters. Deon enters the classroom a changed man. He wants to apologize to Gabriel for not acting like a christian. Gabriel hands Deon some of Malik’s belongings he left at school. This causes Deon’s control to slip and he freaks and tries to warn Gabriel and then dies. Police and Ambulance are immediately on the scene. Take Deon away.

1) Gabriel Freeman
Role – Leader
Traits – Inquisitive. He has to figure things out
Fears – losing his family
Wants/needs – to be the best teacher he can be. he wants to protect his community.
Likability – He can be a bit of a smart ass.
How he acts under stress – As a teacher he is used to stress but tends to shy away from it.
Relationship to other characters – He’s the teacher at a local school. some in the community don’t like him because he’s an atheist. He’s a good neighbor.
Intro – PTA Board meeting. Parents are having issues with an atheist teaching their children.
Denial – Being an atheist and a science teacher he flat out denies that there is a creature.
First Reaction – He Runs.
Relationship to group after first horror – he takes charge and becomes a leader.
How he fights back – tries to learn as much as he can about it. Researches it.
Endpoint – He survives.

This assignment taught me to think about spacing out the reveals of the mystery and not do one big massive data dump.
Monster:
What is the monster?
White Jesus. A demonic entity that devours people.
What are its powers?
Can control people, can shape-shift. It affects the awareness and attention in people.
What are its limitations?
The creature doesn’t have free rein. Must be summoned usually by singing “Jesus Loves Me”.
What are its weaknesses?
The creature is weak to iron. Cold Iron is believed to repel, contain or harm malevolent supernatural creatures.

Why: Omar betrayed his neighbors to the creature.
How” Gabriel pushes him into the creature.

Alfred’s Horror Situation Track
What I learned – Its making me look at different angles of the idea I had and adding more to it. I tend to focus on the horror and forget about the reaction to the horror.
ACT 1
*Atmosphere of Evil Established – The neighbor’s boy is grabbed by the creature.
*Horror Situation – Door to door evangelists summon the creature that grabs the boy.
*Reaction – Tries to escape.
*Connect With Characters – At a neighborhood block party we are introduced to Gabriel Freeman, his wife Sierra and their daughter Eboni. We are also introduced to several other members of the neighborhood.
*Denial of Horror – Another child claims to have seen the monster. Gabriel tells him there are no monsters.
*Safety Taken Away – After another child is grabbed the concerned parents go to the police. They police are no help.
*Horror Situation – Not Knowing who is possessed. The police offer no help because they are controlled by the creature.
*Reaction – Gabriel tries to solve why the police are acting weird.
*Characters are warned not to do it – Gabriel takes matters into his own hands and investigates the disappearances. An older member of the community warns him not to.
*MONSTER – Gabriel checks on a family and comes face to face with the creature.
*Horror Situation – Face to face with the creature.
*Reaction – Gabriel runs out of the house.
ACT 2 – POINT OF NO RETURN
*Isolated/Trapped/Abducted – Eboni is grabbed
*Horror Situation – Gabriel’s daughter is kidnapped.
*Reaction – Gabriel and Sierra go looking for her.
*One of Us Is Killed – Sara is killed.
*Horror Situation – Sara sees her abducted daughter and goes to her. She’s lured into a trap.
*Character Death – She’s torn apart and devoured.
MIDPOINT – THE MONSTER IS WORSE THAN WE THOUGHT
*Full Pursuit By Killer – Dominated Adults, controlled but the creature, chase the group.
*Horror Situation – Our group find out the whole town is controlled by the creature. They are attacked and chased.
*Reaction – Our group escape.
*Terrorize – The group sees how deep the conspiracy goes.
ACT 3 FULL OUT TERROR
*Fight to the Death – Group heads for where they think the kids are being held.
*Horror Situation – walking into a trap. All but Gabriel, Sierra and Omar are killed.
*Reaction – Hide. They witness their friends being killed.
*Hysteria – Creature and dominated town bear down on them.
*Thrilling Escape From Death – Gabriel, Sierra and Omar free Eboni.
Horror Situation – They come face to face with the monster.
Reaction – Fight and Escape.
*Death Returns to Take One – Omar revealed to be working with the creature and is killed.
*Resolution – Gabriel, Sierra and Eboni escape the town and come to the next town…that’s also dominated by the creature.

What I learned doing this assignment is to properly outline for horror scripts.
ACT 1

*Terrorize – The group sees how deep the conspiracy goes when explained by Omar.
ACT 3 FULL OUT TERROR
*Fight to the Death – Group heads for where they think the kids are being held.
*Hysteria – Creature and dominated town bear down on the group.
*Thrilling Escape From Death – Gabriel and Sierra escape with Eboni.
*Death Returns to take One – Omar is revealed to be working for the creature. He is killed.
Resolution – Gabriel, Sierra and Eboni escape out of town and come to another town…that is under the control of the creature too.

Alfred’s Characters for Horror.
What I learned: To focus on the characters and that not everyone has to die.
1) Creature stalking and eating minority children. Group is a families in an urban neighborhood.
2) Dying pattern – The characters experience the terror and survive together but one or two will die.
3) Gabriel Freeman – father and science teacher at the nearby high school. He’s the leader.
Sierra Freeman – Gabriel’s wife. She’s the moral center of the group.
Eboni Freeman – Gabriel and Sierra’s 16 year old daughter. She’s the complainer.
Omar Pope – the Red Herring. He actually is working with the monster.
Sara – her son was grabbed by the monster. She’s out of control.
Tavian – Sara’s son. He’s an innocent.

Alfred’s Terrifying Monster
What I learned – to stream line my creature and not focus much on its back story.
1) My monster is a creature that appears to be Christianity’s image of Jesus.
2) Their Terror – a creature made a deal with the privileged to feed on minority children.
Their Mystery – How do we stop this thing from feeding on more children?
Their Fear – Provoking appearance is an ironic visual. Image of what people consider their savior used by a blood thirsty creature.
Their Rules – creature is summoned by singing the song “Jesus Loves Me”. It then stalks and feeds on its prey. It can also influence adults to do its bidding.
Their Mythology – Everything you were taught about the Bible and Jesus was a lie. It was a cover up to conceal the a bargain made between the creature and the wealthy. The creature caused the annihilation of the Roanoke Colony. The creature has been in the US ever since making the country and rich people prosperous in exchange for hunting minority children.

IT: Chapter One Horror Conventions
What I learned doing this assignment is that you don’t need a high body count to make a scary movie. This movie used “Terrorize the Characters” to the fullest. It also helped me clarify some ideas for my script.
Title/Concept – IT: Chapter One – a cosmic entity stalks and feeds on children
Terrorize the Characters – children are stalked by this creature that conjures up their worse fears.
Isolation – The main characters are children in a small town of Derry. Most of the adults there are controlled or under the influence of IT.
Deaths – a child is pulled into the sewers in the intro, a bully is trapped in the sewers, IT influenced a boy to kill his father.
Monster – a cosmic entity that feeds on children. IT can shapeshifter into their worse fears. IT can also influence people to act on its behalf.
High Tension – IT traps children and forces them to confront their worse fears. Mostly involves going into dark places.
Departure from Reality – There’s a cosmic entity that has taken over a small town and awakens every 27 years to feed.
Moral Statement – The statement this film makes is about facing your fears.
My Project:
White Jesus Horror Conventions
Concept – a cosmic entity is stalking and eating minority children in the inner city.
Terrorize the Characters – minority children are being stalked by this creature.
Isolation – minority children going missing in a city where the police force doesn’t care or is in on the plot.
Death – Evangelists going door to door and summon the creature to eat a child, attacking a child left alone at home, attacking a child at church.
Monster – (I’m undecided about this) It’s either a being that assumes the form we normally associate with Jesus to act without obstacle or we weren’t told the truth about Christianity, the Bible and the nature of God and this is what that being is.
High Tension – Characters trapped in usually safe places like church, home and school.
Moral statement – People over prosperity. We find that people with power and privilege struck a bargain with the creature that it will feed only on minority children in exchange for it using it’s power to make the US prosperous.
