Alvoro’s projects and insights.
1-The Suspect is a Black Male-Crime Thriller-When the son he has just reunited with is gunned down, a recently released ex con’s search for justice and revenge lands him in the crosshairs of a brutal gang and the corrupt cops of the NYPD. 5-10million
2-(working title) Thelma & Luis-A broken down former detective has one last chance at redemption, when he finds the pregnant witness that his former partners want to silence. 1-5 million.
What I’ve learned is that if I want to be produced, I need to do what it takes to get the movie made. ‘Nuff said!

Hi Gang.
Alvoro Leite here. I’ve written about a dozen or so feature length screenplays.
I hope to gain practical skills, and insights that will propel me towards being a produced writer.
Born and raised in nYc, I joined the military and currently live in the Ohio. I’ve taken a few of the Screenwriting U courses, including ProSeries and MSC.
Looking forward to learning with you and from you.

GROUP RELEASE FORM
As a member of this group, I agree to the following:
1. That I will keep the processes, strategies, teleconferences, communications, lessons, and models of the class confidential, and that I will NOT share any of this program either privately, with a group, posting online, writing articles, through video or computer programming, or in any other way that would make those processes, teleconferences, communications, lessons, and models of the class available to anyone who is not a member of this class.
2. That each writer’s work here is copyrighted and that writer is the sole owner of that work. That includes this program which is copyrighted by Hal Croasmun. I acknowledge that submission of an idea to this group constitutes a claim of and the recognition of ownership of that idea.
I will keep the other writer’s ideas and writing confidential and will not share this information with anyone without the express written permission of the writer/owner. I will not market or even discuss this information with anyone outside this group.
3. I also understand that many stories and ideas are similar and/or have common themes and from time to time, two or more people can independently and simultaneously generate the same concept or movie idea.
4. If I have an idea that is the same as or very similar to another group member’s idea, I’ll immediately contact Hal and present proof that I had this idea prior to the beginning of the class. If Hal deems them to be the same idea or close enough to cause harm to either party, he’ll request both parties to present another concept for the class.
5. If you don’t present proof to Hal that you have the same idea as another person, you agree that all ideas presented to this group are the sole ownership of the person who presented them and you will not write or market another group member’s ideas.
6. Finally, I agree not to bring suit against anyone in this group for any reason, unless they use a substantial portion of my copyrighted work in a manner that is public and/or that prevents me from marketing my script by shopping it to production companies, agents, managers, actors, networks, studios or any other entertainment industry organizations or people.

Alvoro’s Credibility is going up!
What I’ve learned is that I can always increase the little bit of cred that I already have.
My Plan for increasing my Cred.
1-Continue my rewrite of “The Suspect is a Black Male.”
2-Get my rewrite read by a script reading service for feedback.
3-Add to my Linked In.
4-Work my pitch.
5-Use TSIABM as my writing sample.
6-Keep writing new material.
7-Earn a writing credit.
8-Pitch and submit TSIABM, whenever and wherever I can that will make a difference.
1.Writing Sample- “THE SUSPECT IS A BLACK MALE.” In the process of a speedy rewrite. “So I’m just gonna say this up front: this script is good. And this isn’t one of those times when I need to find something good about a screenplay so I’ll say that it “has potential to be great,” or something like that… I truly mean that, for the most part, I enjoyed this read. Your structure is mostly solid, and you have a streamlined story engine which makes it very clear to the reader what the core concept of your film is.” Script Pipeline
2. “TSIABM”-Semi Finalist Diverse Voices Contest 2019, A consider from AFilmWriter.com.
3. Google Factor-My IMDB, which has nothing about writing, and my Linked In page.
4.Network-500+ on Linked In page.
5.Education- Pro Series, Master Screenwriter Certificate, BFA Motion Pictures Production.
6. Borrowed Credibility-None.
<font face=”inherit”>7.IMDB </font>Credits-Assistant<font face=”inherit”> Director, Actor, Camera & Electric, Guest Director, Sound, but no writing credits.</font>
<font face=”inherit”>8.</font>Other forms of credibility that is related to screenwriting-Director.

Name-Alvoro Leite
How many scripts-Several
What I hope to get out of this class? Back onto the path, I fell off of during the pandemic.
Something unique about me? I’m a military vet and film school graduate.

Alvoro’s Projects and Insights
What I’ve learned doing this assignment is how important the audition process is, and how it might show up at anytime, and I should be flexible and open, and the deal I make has to be one that works for everyone involved.
The Projects that I’m bringing along are; A)a concept that is a five million dollar, low budget, contained Monster in the House thriller. B)The script that I’m bringing in is a fifteen million, high budget, crime thriller script, “The Suspect is a Black Male.”

Alvoro Writes Great Hope & Fear
What I’ve learned doing this assignment is that is is an important bigger picture view of the story that can give your story a connected cohesiveness and take it from good to excellent. Although, not totally written out here, I’ve incorporated hope/fear into each category.
Act 1
Enviorn-Something unseen, with a claustrophobic ex con. Incompat-Custodial Ex cons versus Security guards. Unpredict-Someone found dead. Isolate-Rolling Power Blackout. Increased Tension-Security vs Custodians. Danger-Death.
Act 2
Enviorn-Trapped inside with killer. Incompat-Security vs Ex Cons. Unpredict-Killer is not human. Isolate-No telling when hope will arrive. Claustrophobic out of control. Increased Tension-Ex Cons used as bait.
Act 3
Enviorn-Danger of death. Incompat-Triggering guards vs Ex Cons. Unpredict-Museum director deals in stolen antiquities. Isolate-Left to their own devices. Increased Tension-Death comes a knocking. Danger-Attacked, injured, another death.
Act 4
Enviorn-Trapped, and hiding out. Incompat-Director and others have differing needs and desires. Minds games, fear, and psych issues. Unpredict-Situation is out of control. Isolate-Loss of metro, left alone. Increase Tension-Survive until dawn, everything that can go wrong, does. Danger-Attack , injury and evil has been destroyed.

Alvoro’s 4 Act Structure.
What I’ve learned doing this is that this process is pretty simple and effective. I like that it allows you to cover lots of ground in a smaller period of time.
Concept:When an ancient artifact is disturbed, a disembodied spirit moves through the Museum killing everyone in its path.
Main Conflict:The creature is killing security and custodians alike, and they’re all locked in the Museum.
ACT 1-Intro & Setup
Opening: We meet the custodial staff of which the Main Character is one. They prepare for their first night of their real first “Big” job, working the Museum. We meet the security staff.
Inc.Inc: An “Issue” with the power locks them all into the museum overnight.
1stTP: An ancient spirit has killed one person and taking over another.
ACT 2-Challenge their Reality
Reaction: Security and Custodians are trapped together, but act as opposing teams.
The Plan: Security uses Custodians(unwittingly) as bait for the creature. One custodian and one security are killed.
2nd TP: The plan has failed and they need to retreat and regroup.
ACT 3-With MP change, everything must be rethought.
New Plan:MC convinces others that they must work together. They prepare.
3rd TP: Discovers Museum has been dealing in black market antiquities.
ACT 4-Test the Change in the Character.
Climax-They’ve destroyed/eliminated the spirit.
Resolution:The remaining survivors await rescue

Alvoro Delivers on Multiple Layers!
What I learned is that each segment, Characters, Locations, and Plots can be layered and deliver on more than one level.
Surface Layers-Plot-It’s an old artifact. Beneath that it’s actually a trap to draw prey, because it houses a spirit/creature/curse. Revealed through mishandling.
Surface Layers-Character-Relationship twixt Head custodian and new custodian. Beneath that relationship is that of Uncle/Nephew. Nephew has just gotten out of jail, “but no one needs to know.” Revealed through overheard conversation.
Surface Layers-Location is a Museum of Natural History-Beneath that is the Unique subword of the Museum, where a hidden operation dealing in stolen antiquities is going on. Revealed through character accidentally entering a room where the action is taking place.

Alvoro’s Character Journey’s
What I’ve learned doing this assignment is that it was easier than I thought. The hardest part was thinking that it would be hard. I lined three characters across and filled in from beginning to ending for each of them at the same time. It made it easier to see more of the story, by doing them together.
Head Guard
B-Intro arrival of custodians
TP-Intro of the Main Threat
MP-Makes Choice to trust
TP2-Plan Fails
D-Trusts Ex Con
3AC-Threat Destroyed
E-Awaits Rescue
New Custodian(ExCon)
B-Arrives with others
TP-Lockdown
MP-Chooses to Fight
TP2-Creates New Plan
D-Trusts Guards
3AC-Threat Destroyed
E-Awaits Rescue

What I’ve learned doing this assignment is that when you get in a flow, try to stay out of your own way.
Alvoro’s Right Characters!
What makes these the right characters is the natural conflict that they bring to the situation. They naturally break into two camps, and they don’t trust each other, in a situation that is going to require trust. There’s a natural animosity between each camp, and issues in each camp, as well. They’re going to have to learn to work together if they want to survive.

Alvoro’s Great Hook!
This process worked well for me, in particular the phrase, “Having to do with ___________, what haven’t we seen before?”
What I’ve learned doing this assignment is that, I need to scrape some of the rust off of my imagination and get more comfortable with exchanging components.

Alvoro’s Great Hook.
The process is pretty intuitive, and worked excellently, in that it allowed me and allows anyone else to produce several different takes on the same core element. I learned that the Hook is, most definitely, crucial.
