    Title: Amelia Project and Market.

    Title: Ida

    Genre: Drama

Concept: The story of Ida B Wells, a journalist, author and civil rights activist who singlehandedly brought the atrocities of lynching to the public in the late 1800’s.

What is attractive: Ida B Wells was the original badass. A woman of conviction and determination, she stood her ground during an incredibly oppressive time for Black people in this country and published the truth about lynching in America. She should be a role model for all women, black and white.

Who to target first: I would like to target a strong actor for the lead role. I would do that through managers. I would also target producers. If any of my shortlist actors has a production company, I would target that too.

What I learned: I learned to look at a pitch as what the producer needs rather than what I am selling

Hello everyone! Sorry I’m late! Went to a party last Monday, had oysters and an oyster fought back! A week of Vibrio will lay anyone up, and I have turned out to be no exception. Three days of Doxi though has me back in order and I’ll be playing catch up. Look forward to meeting everyone! To answer the q’s:

    Name: Amelia

Number of scripts: probably around 10

What do I want: I have optioned one script in my life, have interest in another (although some of the producers (family, not industry) want to take out all the interesting bits), and want to get at least one on the screen. I have written full time at times and am currently unemployed so want to get some ground on this. Let’s see where this class can take me.

Unique?: Oyster survivor? Former Peace Corps Volunteer (Morocco 07-09)? Live on Martha’s Vineyard? Successful single mother? I don’t know how unique any of these things are but they are my life.

What I learned: I have three main characters and I plan to kill two of them off mid way through so I have to develop how one story line with two possible stories will be written.

    Three lead characters.

    1) Blaze

What draws us to this character? Cheeky, spunky, fun, someone anyone would want to be friends with, full of charm. An independent person willing to say who they are not caring about other peoples opinions or judgements. <div>

    Traits: charming, driven, independent, confident

Subtext: Sad that her family will not accept her for who she is

Flaw: will survive at all costs, regardless as to who she may hurt along the way.

Values: survival, if love and honesty can come in to play, great. If not, oh well.

Irony: she is conflicted by her values vs her need to survive

What makes this the right character for this role? She will guide this story.

    2) Flint

What draws us to this character? A female drummer in a grunge band.

Traits: Happy, confident yet vulnerable, life always works out in the end

    Subtext: hiding she has money.

Flaw: thinks what she came from is who she is

    Values: honesty, integrity, supportive

Irony: hiding the best side of herself to everyone but Blaze

What makes this the right character for this role? Blaze and Flint compliment each other, and give themselves possibilities.

    3) Linda

What draws us to this character? The mother character, the sage

Traits: kind, helpful, can always rely on her,

Subtext: wants to help youth seeing that she wasn’t able to help her son

    Flaw: need to develop

    Values: need to develop

    Irony: need to develop

What makes this the right character for this role? A mother character without being the mother so her departure will bring Blaze to her mother

    3. Make any improvements you think of to your Part 1 profile and bring the two parts together.

    Doing on this!

Amelia’s Transformational Writing Journey? What I learned? I am the slacker who needs to have pressure to work! Not completely true and not new but I got caught up in my life last week so I will scramble to catch up.

Who am I creating? Blaze, a 20 something non-binary (Female Actor) Artist evolves from a scrappy, does what ever needs to be done to survive, doesn’t trust anyone to a self confident accomplished person who is released from her guilt and loss.

Internal Journey: From feeling unloved, not accepted, detached, untrusting of everyone to finding herself and learning to trust/love.

External Journey: From living day to day, surviving, void of attachments to becoming a part of a community.

Blaze’s old ways: – takes advantage for the advantage

    – focused on survival, meeting current needs, not looking at the futuregio;d

    – scrapper; doesn’t trust anyone

    – unaware of how her actions effect others

    Blaze’s new ways: – self confident/accomplished

    – released from guilt and loss
