Becky Finished Act 1: What I learned in
this assignment is that I like speed writing it makes things flow.
Might be crappy, but at least I’m getting it done.

    INT. GEM THEATER – LOBBY

DANA steps through the front double doors of a circa 1890s Vaudeville style theater. She has a book bag slung over her shoulder and slowly looks around as the THEATER GUIDE approaches.

    THEATER GUIDE

I will be with you in a moment. Please feel free to take a peek.

Dana slowly walks through the lobby smelling and taking in all the intricate work that has been preserved.

She steps up to the auditorium entrance. The auditorium is a step back in time of the old vaudeville days.

INT. GEM THEATER AUDITORIUM – DAY

Dana sits in the center of the empty auditorium with History of Vaudeville book open to THE GEM in her lap. The gorgeous burgundy curtains are closed on the stage.

Dana looks up and breaths in the history of the theater.

The TINKLING of piano keys begins as the curtains slide open.

A grand piano sits in the middle of the stage. A black pianist accompanies ADE JOHNSON, a smart, sleek, glamorous beauty in a white sequence gown.

Dana whispers the words along with Ade.

A breeze sweeps through and ruffles the pages. Dana’s closed eyes pop open to see the book slam shut. The curtains are closed.

    THEATER GUIDE (O.S.)

    Ms. Morrison?

    INT. GEM THEATER – LOBBY

The theater guide walks through the lobby toward the auditorium entrance.

    AUDITORIUM

Dana shoves the book into her bag. Ade sings as Dana walks up aisle.

The singing stops abruptly. The guide appears in doorway at lobby entrance.

    THEATER GUIDE

    Ms. Morrison.

    DANA

    You can call me Dana.

    The Guide nods at her.

    THEATER GUIDE

Sorry about the wait. Let’s set up a time for tomorrow morning.

Dana smiles at the guide and turns to look at the stage. The curtains ripple.

    INT. HOTEL ROOM – DAY

The Vaudeville book lies open on the bed as Dana looks at her vacation calendar. She crosses off today. She has two more nights here and travels to The Grand; the second theater of the five she has lined up. She adds a question mark next to The Grand and closes her calendar.

INT. GEM THEATER LOBBY – DAY

Dana and the Theater guide look over the Vaudeville book open on the concessions counter.

    DANA

The Gem has such a short explanation. And I was… well, wondering if the Gem ever had Black Vaudeville performers?

    THEATER GUIDE

    Yes… I think so.

    (shrugs)

I’m not positive about performers. I mostly know about the historical structure. Can I get back to you on that? But I’m pretty sure. We were a free state.

    DANA

    Yeah, of course. Thanks.

    THEATER GUIDE

    You ready?

    Dana closes up the book.

    DANA

    Can’t wait.

    INT. BACKSTAGE – DAY

Dana stands at an area under construction with a thick, gaping hole that reaches the outside bricks. Layers of old walls still have numerous newspaper clippings, old playbills and programs still attached to pieces of plaster.

    THEATER GUIDE

Yes, an amazing find. They are still deciding if they should open more up and do some historic archiving or just close it up.

    DANA

    Keeping it a time capsule.

    THEATER GUIDE

That’s right. On to the Green Room.

Dana gets as close as she can. Dana looks at the Guide, she has walked away. She reaches in as far back as she can get and pulls a handful of papers from the wall and shoves it into her book bag.

    THEATER GUIDE

It has been redone only once.

    Dana hurries to catch up.

    DANA

Heart and nerves of the theater.

    The Guide shakes her head.

    THEATER GUIDE

Yes, many nerves have buzzed their way onto stage.

    GREEN ROOM

The Guide holds the door open to the Green Room for Dana.

    THEATER GUIDE

We don’t normally talk about this on the tour but you seem… different.

    DANA

    Different?

    THEATER GUIDE

    Uh… well. I mean… open minded.

    DANA

What is it? That you don’t talk about? Normally.

    THEATER GUIDE

    Oh, uh… ghosts.

Dana, taken aback. She walks through the Green Room door.

    DANA

    Ghosts?

    THEATER GUIDE

Well, so we’ve been told. Cool, huh?

    DANA

    Yes, cool.

A small glint, abnormally bright, appears on the mirror.

    THEATER GUIDE

Sometimes I swear I hear someone doing vocal warm ups.

Dana, mesmerized, stands in front of the mirror.

    THEATER GUIDE

Down here, I’ve heard lines being said.

    DANA

    Lines?

The glint, turns into a small puddle like reflection, A red blurred playbill floats into view.

    THEATER GUIDE

    You know, going over lines.

    DANA

    Oh right.

    THEATER GUIDE

    Practicing lines for a play.

Starring Ade Johnson comes into focus.

    ADE (V.O.)

    1906.

Dana sucks in a breath and whispers.

    DANA

    1906.

    THEATER GUIDE

    You okay?

The mirror shimmers and goes to normal. Dana looks at the Guide, waiting for an explanation. The Guide obviously didn’t see or hear the mirror.

    DANA

    Yeah, I’m okay.

    INT. LIBRARY – DAY

Dana sits skimming through a microfiche viewer. She stops on an article about getting your tickets for a three night only internationally known Vaudeville Troupe. The last two sentences make up the final paragraph of the article.

    INSERT:

TRAVELING NEGRO TROUBADOURS: one night only. Starring Jack Jones. Featuring Ade Johnson.

Dana highlights it and pushes a button.

    REFERENCE DESK

The LIBRARIAN takes money from Dana and hands her multiple print outs from the microfiche of articles and old playbills.

    INT. MUSEUM – DAY

MUSEUM GUIDE walks Dana to a Vaudeville display.

    MUSEUM GUIDE

We don’t have a bunch, but it is such an interesting time.

    DANA

    Thank you.

The Guide starts to leave and turns back.

    MUSEUM GUIDE

If you really want to know more about the Vaudeville days here you might want to talk to Frank. His memory is sharp as a tack.

    DANA

Frank? He was around? He’s still aah… where does he live?

    MUSEUM GUIDE

He’s a couple blocks away at the assisted living. He loves to talk about… well anything, he just likes to talk.

Dana looks at the display and back at the Guide.

    DANA

    Thank you, I’ll do that.

EXT. ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY – DAY

Dana follows the FACILITY CLERK out to a patio in an active quad area of the assisted living facility.

FRANK, a witty and thoughtful 94 year old sits in the shade looking out over the perfectly cut grass. The Clerk points to Frank and Dana approaches him.

    DANA

    Frank Wittaker?

    Frank turns to her.

    FRANK

Come sit down. My neck don’t swivel so good.

    Dana sits next to Frank.

    FRANK

Whose lovely presence am I enjoying right now?

    DANA

    I’m Dana. Morrison.

    FRANK

    Nice to meet you Dana.

Dana wrings her hands and shifts in her seat.

    FRANK

Why you nervous? I don’t bite. What group you with?

    DANA

    Group?

    FRANK

Church? Spend some time with the geezers and get a soul point.

    Dana nervously giggles.

    DANA

Oh, no. Nothing like that. I was hoping to talk to you about The Gem. The Theater?

    Frank lights up.

    FRANK

    The Gem. Our town jewel.

Frank cracks himself up. Dana smiles but he doesn’t get the immediate reaction.

    FRANK

Okay, not a jokester. What are you after?

    DANA

Did you get to go to any vaudeville shows? You may have been too young.

    FRANK

    You are a sweetheart.

    DANA

I’m here about some performers before your time.

    FRANK

    Like?

    DANA

    Like Ade Johnson?

    Frank whistles long and slow.

    FRANK

Now there is a name I haven’t heard in a long time.

    DANA

    You remember her?

    FRANK

You’re right. She was before my time. But my parents loved her voice. Back then we just had those scratchy, barely understandable recordings. She was one of the first black artists to be recorded.

    Frank’s thoughts drift.

    DANA

So did they get to see her perform?

    FRANK

Oh yeah. The Gem was one that let the black, well they used negro back then, but black Vaudeville troupes perform.

Frank turns to Dana with excitement in his voice.

    FRANK

Ade was amazing. She was a first in a lot of things. So talented.

    His eyes remember again.

    FRANK

    Such a shame.

    DANA

    Shame?

    FRANK

A shame she was taken so young. That was bad business.

    DANA

    Bad business?

    Frank grins at Dana.

    FRANK

Yep, they said it was her heart. But my parents heard that there was a huge rivalry, because of her popularity. A jealous male headliner.

    DANA

Jealous? You think her death wasn’t natural?

    FRANK

    As natural as being poisoned.

    Dana rocks forward.

    DANA

    Poisoned?

    Frank leans back and shrugs.

    FRANK

Who knows? It was a long time ago. My parents knew the authorities weren’t going to look into it even though it was suspicious. And that was that.

    DANA

    Unbelievable.

    FRANK

She was a beauty, a comedian, angelic voice, business smart, blacks and whites loved her.

Frank’s brows furrow as he turns to Dana.

    FRANK

    That made her a problem.

    DANA

    Oh geez.

    FRANK

Fishy stuff. We’ll never know if it was jealousy or the white producers thinking she was getting too big for her britches.

    DANA

Thank you so much for talking with me. I never thought I’d know more about her.

    FRANK

I love talking about those days. My house mates just wanna play cards and sleep.

Frank leans back, looks up and sighs.

    FRANK

Ade Johnson, now she’s something to talk about.

    DANA

Thank you Frank. I may come back for another chat. If that’s okay, of course.

Frank leans toward Dana with a grin.

    FRANK

As long as I’m breathing, you can come visit me anytime.

INT. DANA’S HOTEL ROOM – DAY

Dana looks over her copies from the library and piece of torn playbill she pulled off the wall in the theater.

She unfolds her itinerary that shows three more hotel names, each in different towns.

Dana picks up her phone, sets it down. She picks up the torn playbill. Looks at her itinerary. Picks phone up and dials.

    DANA

Hi, umm… I have a reservation… Dana Morrison. Yes, I’ll need to cancel that.

Dana hangs up and sets the Playbill down on top of everything. She dials again.

    DANA

    Hi, this is Dana Morrison.

    (pause)

I’m hoping to take that in-depth tour again. Your, umm… stories are so intriguing.

    (pause)

    Tomorrow would be perfect.

Dana hangs up, puts the torn playbill in her book bag, slings the bag over her shoulder and leaves.

    Becky’s Act 1: Opening Scenes – What I
learned doing this assignment is that I still don’t have to have all

What if its not the chance you thought. Finds book of photos of Ade
and a playbill puts all together and takes it.

    INT. DANCE HALL – NIGHT

Dana in a crowded bar dancing –
Murderer sees Ade in Dana – He’s nervous and curious.

    INT. RIFT – NIGHT

Ade goes to rift and checks that still
there. (can see The Gem Main theater shimmering through the rift
diamond shaped water puddle on dressing room mirror) Tries to reach
through fingers spark and start to go through – sparking bigger she
    can’t get through.

    INT. DANCE HALL – NIGHT

Murderer talks with Dana. How she knew
Ade. Had me listen to a few new songs. The new voice of a mixed
audience. He is disgusted – leaves her. As leaves tells white
producer to get out has no place here. Dana tells Ade’s friends to
follow her. She whispers Ade’s name to make sure she’s there.

    INT. DRESSING ROOM – NIGHT

Dana tells Ade’s friends how Ade was
poisoned. Ade tells story through Dana. After performance was given a
celebratory shot of whiskey – it had been poisoned. Has a plan.
(flashback-to murderer asking Ade if she still was talking to the
white guy about mixed audiences in “their” theater. “of course”
almost hands her the shot. “sure you don’t want to rethink it?”
no – hands her the shot of whiskey. They click – she drinks –
he takes shot glass – he kisses her on the cheek and leaves her in
the dressing room to die. What can we do about him. Police won’t
    care. Dana has a plan.

Resolution: The two women figure out
the killer, why and how. Gives Ade ability to move on and Dana
ability to live in her world stronger.

    INT. PSYCHIC’S STUDIO – DAY

Dana takes murderer to seer -Ade faces
murderer-shows herself. He is literally scared to death or insane.
Psychic also sees Ade this time.

    INT. GREEN ROOM – DAY

    Ade ready to move on

    INT. RIFT – DAY

Dana ready to go home, write a
biography on Ade’s short life and how she died. and live a brave life

Becky’s High Speed Beat Sheet. What I
learned doing this assignment is there is stuff I don’t like, seems
corny or not interesting but that is alright ’cause its not done yet.

    ACT 1

    INT. GEM THEATER – DAY

    Opening: Dana’s first visit to
THE GEM theater. Sits in the center of the empty theater with the
curtain closed. Dana’s eyes are closed an opened book in her lap. The
stage curtains open to a grand piano being played by a black pianist
and Ade in a sparkling long, white gown singing a song from the early
1900s. A strong wind blows the book closed and stops the show going
    on in Dana’s mind.

    INT. LOBBY

The theater guide finds Dana for a
short tour – the closed curtain ripples as Dana looks back.

    <font color=”#ff3333″>INT. BACK STAGE </font>

    <font color=”#ff3333″> Guide questions

    old playbills? Confirms black performances?</font>

    <font color=”#ff3333″>INT. THEATER</font>

    <font color=”#ff3333″>Guide normally
doesn’t add this, but sometimes feels like place is haunted? Touch on
    haunted?</font>

    Becky’s 4 Act Transformational
Structure – What I learned doing this assignment is that your
original idea and who your lead is can change so much or just gain
much more interesting attributes than what you had considered or
thought you could come up with.

    Concept: Dana is pulled through
a time rift by a ghost and has to solve their murder to put the ghost
to rest before the rift closes and she herself becomes extinct.

    Main Conflict: Dana is pulled
into Ade’s 1906 Vaudeville world. Dana will have to investigate and
communicate as Ade works to draw Dana deeper in so they can switch
worlds. Ade wants Dana’s physical place in Dana’s world.

    Dana Old Ways: Visits historical
theaters for vacation by herself. She believes that Vaudeville and
the early 1900s was an easy, no stress time to live. She is
    introverted and a book worm.

    Dana New Ways: Has traveled
through a time rift with a ghost. Knows that any era to live in is

Becky’s Character Profile Part 2: What
I learned doing this assignment is it’s cool to see the progression
as you have to focus on specific elements. How it rounds out the
characters and your idea of the story.

    Protagonist: Dana

What draws us to this character? Her
childlike love of historical theaters and Vaudeville. She will take
that chance to live in a world she believes is better for her.

Traits: fear of people disappearing so
no one gets close, curious, blunt, listens well

Subtext: scared of new things, doesn’t
    trust

Flaw: too curious overcomes her sense
    of good judgement.

    Values: knowledge and calmness

Irony: wants to disappear into the
other realm which is very hectic and loud.

What makes this the right character for
this role? Dana overcomes her fears of the world pressing in on her
by letting her curiosity and love of the past subdue her fear of the
    unknown

    Antagonist: Ade

What draws us to this character? She is
beautiful, glamorous and knowledgeable in all things Vaudeville and
entertainment. She is everything Dana wants to know about.

    Traits: Smart, sassy, selfish,
    manipulative and angry

Subtext: Angry that she has died

    Flaw: conceit

    Values: Talent, life

    Irony: Can never live again

What makes this the right character for
this role? Dying when at the top of her game in the Vaudeville scene
she, stood alone, not a lot of true friends, Dana becomes that
confidant. She needs to move on to a new world and Dana is the one
    who can make that happen.

    Becky’s Character Interviews – What I
learned doing this assignment is that I have figured out more of the
background to the story and came up with an idea to
make the conflict work against each character. Again, great and helpful
assignment. I just hope I copied and pasted correctly this time!

    Protagonist-

My name is Dana. I’m a librarian at a
small town library. I like historical things. Specifically the late
1800s and early 1900s. I love vaudeville and historical theaters. I
was an easier time. People weren’t as stressed out then, not as fast
    paced.

Is that why you are a librarian?

I like it here. It’s quiet. It’s not
hectic. Nothing scary happens in a library. The books are all here
for good, not leaving anytime. They go out and come back.

Why do you think you were called to
    this journey?

‘Cause I love this time period, I love
vaudeville and all of the people that were a part of it. All of it.
Black and white. It was very segregated then. But it shouldn’t have
been. Some people on the inside where pushing back. Trying to get the
stage to open up to both races. Amazing talent, on both stages. It
should have been one stage, like today.

    Why you?

I listened. Everyone else Ade tried to
communicate with didn’t listen. That’s what Ade needs is a good
listener and a true friend. Lots of people said they were her friend
in her time but they just wanted something from her. She had good
contacts for black entertainers and was a star.

You are up against . What is it about
them that makes this journey even more difficult for you?

Ade wants to live but she died already.
How do I help a dead person? She wants in my world, maybe if she was
alive… but then she’d never had found the rift in the dimensions.
She will stop at nothing to come into this world. Even let me die,
she wants it that bad… I think. I’d love to stay in her world, the
live one that is. But I may have never met Ade. In that segregated
world. I hope I would have.

In order to survive or accomplish this,
you are going to have to step way outside of your box. What changes
do you expect to make and which of them will be the most difficult?

I’ll have to actually trust people and
my instincts. I don’t go out, I work, read, go home. It’s safe. My
vacations are to historic theaters. I go to the towns, get a hotel,
visit the theaters over and over and read up on them at the local
library. So I visit the site, read, go to hotel… not much different
than when at home but the exciting life of vaudeville is so amazing
to read about, sometimes I believe I’m there. Ade, makes it possible
to be there. When I step into that world it is loud, people bump into
you, you have to dance. I don’t dance… I read about dancing. You
laugh out loud, I don’t laugh out loud, maybe I giggle a bit. It is
very uncomfortable, but I love it, it’s vaudeville. My dream world.

What habits or ways of thinking do you
think will be the most difficult to let go of?

That its possible to step through
dimensions. This seems like a dream and that I’m going to wake up.
One moment I believe that I can move through dimensions the next I
don’t. And being ushered through by a ghost. That is even more far
fetched. I must be crazy and live in a loony bin and never come out
of my stupor. But this is real, I’m not crazy and I am able to go
through a dimensional time rift. That and I actually may meet people
I’ve always read about and dreamed of seeing on stage.

    What fears, insecurities and wounds
    have held you back?

All of them. That it isn’t real, that
how would Ade know me or even like me and when, or if, she does get
to know me, she’ll leave. Walking into her world, all those amazing
    talented people. I’m just a nobody. A librarian. A fan from a
    different dimension.

    What skills, background or expertise
makes you well-suited to face this conflict or antagonist?

My historical background. I know who
killed Ade. I know to stay away from them. Ade’s anger is keeping her
here. I know she suspects people, maybe by my help in getting
justice it will keep her from trying to stay in my dimension. Her
ghost is still a ghost, I have to help her see that. She thinks she
can come back somehow. Now she is hungry for this dimension. Where
black and white entertain together. To the entire world.

What are you hiding from the other
characters? What don’t you want them to know?

I know that Ade can’t come back. I
    can’t tell her that.

What do you think of ?

How much better my life would be if I
lived in a different, slower paced time.

Tell me your side of this whole
    conflict / story.

Ade wants to change places with me. I
stay in her dimension she in mine. It has to be an equal exchange or
it won’t stick. But it can never be. Ade is a ghost she doesn’t get
what she wants because she’s dead already.

What does it do for your life is you
    succeed here?

Ade gets closure on her death and I get
the amazing knowledge that the time era I dream of is way more
exciting than I could have imagined and just as chaotic as today,
just different people and different problems. Maybe I could trust
    more people.

Ask any other questions about their
character profile that will help you. Did you know of Ade before she
    contacted you through the rift?

Yes, I had read about her. She was in
the midst of being a huge star on the black stage and had been
invited to dance and sing in front of white audiences too. She was
amazingly talented. There are still a few recordings both film and
mostly audio recordings of her that have still survived. She had
untimely death. She was ahead of her time.

    Antagonist-

    I am a star. I was, until I died. I’m
not sure how I died, or why but I have my suspicions. I worked hard
to get where I am. I love entertaining and I love pushing the limits.
I’m the best dancer out there. I sing better than most and best of
all… I can make people laugh so hard. I can wow any audience, any.
I’ve proven it. Someday black and white will be on one stage. I’m
gonna make it happen. Everyone will know the name Ade.

Having to do with this journey, what
    are your strengths and weaknesses?

    I don’t really have a weakness except
    I’m dead.

Why are you committed to making the
Protagonist fail? Or for a relationship movie, why are you committed
    to making them change?

Ultimately Dana is weak. She lives in
the past, or wants to. I can give that to her. She is very easy to
manipulate because she lives on every word I say. It’s perfect, It’s
a win-win. I get live in her era, she comes to mine. It’s a one to
one switch. I need this, I need to live my life, it’s unfair that it
was ended before I really got started. Unfair. I deserve this.

What do you get out of winning this
fight / succeeding in your plan / taking down your competition?

I get the rest of my life back.

What drives you toward your mission /
agenda, even in the face of danger, ruin, or death?

    I can’t fear death, it’s already
happened. I fear never having a life again. Dana is my chance, she
listened, she wants my world enough to give up her own. I have needed
that to switch, someone to hear me. What I’m entering may not be my
world but it is a better world. I can get what I deserve in her
    world.

What secrets must you keep to succeed?
What other secrets do you keep out of fear / insecurity?

If I don’t let Dana back in her
dimension and the rift closes up, and it will, her being will be
eliminated from ever being. And I know how long it will stay open. If
I let her go I won’t have any hope of living out my life, it need
    that chance.

The only fear I have is of never coming
back. That I won’t get my life back.

Compared to other people like you, what
makes you special? I’m smart and I’m beautiful. That makes me
approachable. I have more to give to this world than I was able to.
It’s unfair and I’m going to get it back.

What do you think of ?

I miss entertaining people, the laughter
and applause. I want it back.

Tell me your side of this whole
    conflict / story.

I have been moving through dimensions
visiting the different theaters I performed in trying to get someone
to listen to me. For some reason I can’t move backwards. I just close
my eyes and focus on the place and I’m there. I’ve been trying to be
heard. I finally made that happen. I need someone to switch with me.
My world for theirs. I have seen one person switch with another
through this dimensional rift. I need to make her believe that this
is what’s best for her because it’s whats best for me.

    Becky’s Character Profiles Part 1:
What I learned doing this assignment is that by answering the
questions, even if I strayed and over explained, it was all in there.
I just went back and cut out the real information. It was a great
    assignment.

    Dreamer vs. Predator A Thriller

Protagonist: Dana was a Jr. high school
science teacher until her fear got the better of here. She believes
that the early 1900s was the era to live in if she had a choice.

Early 30’s, and because of her
love the early 1900s, dresses that way, minus the skirt. Usually in
slacks with fitted blouses and billowy sleeves, at times adds a
steam punk lilt. Her hair is usually at a knot at the top of her
head, reminiscent of a Gibson Girl. A vaudeville history buff,
believes life was easier, more relaxed with no worries. Her travels
are always hunting down historic vaudeville theaters and discovering
    who performed there.

    Internal Journey: Dana goes from
an introvert to an outgoing, strong proponent of living life to the
    fullest.

    External Journey: Dana visits the
Vaudeville world and comes out realizing that life is doable
    whatever era she is in.

Motivation: Dana wants to live an
uncomplicated, stress free life. Where nothing is pressing in on
    you.

    Wound: After father died her
mother never let her out of her sight. At 14, her mother never came
back one night from the grocery store.

    Mission/Agenda: Wants an
    uncomplicated, stress-less life?

Secret: She knows how the ghost that wants to
    change places with her died.

    What makes them special? Her
    knowledge of the past.

Antagonist: The ghost of Ade died at a
young age, she is angry her life ended just as she was becoming a
star. She believes through a dimensional rift there is way to stop
her death and maybe live a much better life. Somewhere, somehow.

    A beautiful black Vaudeville
actress, she died at 30. Extremely talented in all aspects of
Vaudeville, especially the business side. She always wears the most
    modern outfits she can get.

    Internal Journey: Ade goes from
being an angry, resentful, to accepting her death and finding a
    friendship in Dana.

    External Journey: Ade pulls Dana
into her world of Vaudevillian chaos and entertainment, trying to
seduce Dana into living this life. As Dana becomes her friend Ade
chooses to help Dana live her life in her own time era.

    Motivation: Ade wants either her
    star powered life back.

Wound: Ade is angry that her life
was cut short of her dreams, just as she was in the midst of
    becoming a star.

    Mission/Agenda: Ade’s mission is
to get her life back. One way or another and will stop at nothing to
get what she wants. Maybe even a better life in this new world she
    has discovered.

Secret: Ade knows there is a time
limit on the rift between the two worlds.

What makes them special? Ade is a
ghost. Could moving through the rift give her a new life?

    Becky’s Transformational Journey: What
I learned doing this assignment is focusing on the story as a whole, beginning to the end, is really comfortable. Usually, my ideas are too focused on one aspect.

Mind: A recluse, and lover of all things late
1800s, early 1900s is offered a gift to live in the time she’s always
wanted to. She learns that the easy, calm, slow-paced life she
believes that era engenders is quite the opposite when ushered into
the world of vaudeville that enchants her at first, but once she’s in it, realizes it is not a fairytale.

Physical: An historical theater, vaudeville nut
meets a true ghost of the vaudeville theater and is offered to enter
her dimension and live in the time she’s always dreamed was a better,
easier place. Now faced with the reality and choice of the early
1900s or now, she makes the choice that now isn’t so bad.

The old way was living in the past,
hiding from the present and new things. The new way is learning and
enjoying that there is simple sweetness and genuine entertainment all
around us that is equal to what was perceived from our safe world.
