    Ben’s Visually Appealing Bible

What I learned doing this assignment is

I have decided to leave my TV Pitch Bible without pictures. This is because I can’t find pictures that match the vision of my story.

Subject line: Ben’s Edited TV Pitch Bible

What I learned doing this assignment is

After I read through my TV Pitch Bible, I found that I need to fix many things. It is funny that I spent too much time trying to make my first draft perfect, only to find out that it was not close enough. Next thing to do is to get feedback from another person. A second eye will find problems I could not or believed that they were fine.

What I learned doing this assignment is

I have done most of this while doing previous assignment, but I also realized not every line will have intriguing patterns. Maybe it is because I can’t come up with any at the moment. So I will leave them for future improvement.

Subject Line: (Your name’s) 10 Most Interesting Things

What I learned doing this assignment is

It forced me to find interesting things in my story, which I have never thought of, or knew they were there.

    ASSIGNMENT:

TEN MOST INTERESTING THINGS IN MY STORY

    – Nora’s father abandoned her because she is too ugly to learn magic and bring honor to the family.

    – There is a rule that magic is taught only to the pretty ones.

    – Breaking the rule means execution without trial.

    – An ugly beggar girl must venture into dangerous world.

    – A disguise that requires one’s life force to retain its nature.

    – Nora uses losing her life while trying to find her own way to get into the Affinity Academy to threaten her adopted father into helping her.

    – Wearing the disguise for too long will lead to Nora’s demise.

    – Nora goes ahead with the disguise knowing that it will kill her.

    – Nora’s adopted father is the head of the Affinity Academy.

    – Mani conned Nora and informed authorities about her plan to break the rule.

    Subject Line: Ben’s Producer/Manager

    What I learned today is

I have learned what producer and manager want, but it is difficult how to present myself to the manager. Especially when I don’t know how to fulfill the other requirements. The only way I can think of is to listen and answer their questions after I have presented my project and presenting another marketable project. Anyway, I will leave that for future lessons. Maybe I will learn something.

    ASSIGNMENT

Imagine you have two meetings set up — with a producer and then with a manager. What would you say and do differently based upon this model?

    Answer two questions:

    1. How will you present yourself and your project to the producer?

    – I would start with telling them the genre of my project, which fits their specific market. Then present two Marketable Component (A. Unique and G. Wide Audience Appeal) from lesson 2. And listen to answer their questions.

    2. How will you present yourself and your project to the manager?

    – I would start with a title, concept, and present another marketable project if I have any. And listen to answer their questions.

    Subject Line: Ben’s Marketable Components

<i style=””>What I learned doing this assignment is

I now know what will sell a script. Before this lesson, I have not thought whether my script will sell or not, which puts me in a disadvantage position. It will not be the same for my future scripts because I know that they will sell.

    ASSIGNMENT

Pick one or two components and tell us how your script already fulfills them AND how you might highlight these two in order to elevate the pitch.

    1. Tell us your current logline.

CONCEPT: An ugly beggar girl decides to learn magic and prove her father wrong, but magic is taught only to the pretty ones.

    2. Look through the 10 Components of Marketability and pick one or two that have the most potential for selling this script.

    MY PICKS

    A. Unique: The concept about teaching magic only to the pretty ones hasn’t been explored before.

    G. Wide audience appeal: Lead character is 15-yr-old. Other main and support characters are teens.

    3. Do a quick brainstorm session about ways to elevate those two components for this script and tell us how you might pitch the script through the two components.

    – Underworld of Magic is about an ugly 15-yr-old beggar girl who finds out her father abandoned her because she is too ugly to learn magic and bring honour to the family. She decides to learn magic and prove her father wrong, but there is the rule that magic is taught only to the pretty ones and anyone who breaks it is executed without trial.

    Title: Ben’s Project and Market

    What I learned today is

My intention when I signed up for this class is to learn how to pitch. Now I see there is more to learn.

    ASSIGNMENT

    1. Give us your Genre, Title, and Concept.

    Genre: Fantasy

    Title: Underworld of Magic

Concept: An ugly beggar girl decides to learn magic and prove her father wrong, but magic

is taught only to the pretty ones.

    2. In one or two sentences, tell us what you think is most attractive about your story.

    – Concept is the only thing I can think of at the moment as the most attractive about my story. There are movies having to do with magic out there, but none have to do with teaching magic to certain people.

    3. Tell us which you will target FIRST — managers, producers, or actor’s production company — and why you picked that target.

    FIRST TARGET: PRODUCERS

    – This is totally based on what I have learned in this lesson. I know nothing about managers and actor’s production company, which will decrease my success rate. So, I’m using the knowledge of what I have learned to pick the target I’m very confident I will succeed.

What I learned doing this assignment is

Setups for future episode is like a bait for the audiences. Once they get a hold of it, they will not let go and make the decision at the end of the pilot to watch the entire series. They could become fans of the show from this point on.

This is another skill that increases pilot interest level.

    ASSIGNMENT:

Go to your TV Pitch Bible: Look at the future episodes, five seasons, and character descriptions. Go to your BW Framework: Look at all the info there.

    SETUPS FOR FUTURE EPISODES

    – Nora enters the dangerous underworld of magic.

    – Will Nora get caught?

    – Will the disguise kills Nora before she learns magic?

    – Will Nora learn magic?

    – Will Mo take over Terra’s position?

    – How will Terra deal with Mo betraying him?

    – Will Nora change the rule?

    – Why is magic taught to the pretty ones?

    – Why is Terra helping Nora?

    – Will Zin finds the evidence and exposes Mo?

What I learned doing this assignment is

I have never realized that Empathy/Distress is very important in connecting audience with story. I have seen movies and TV shows where empathy/Distress is present. And those movies and TV shows, I continued to watch them to find out what will happen to the character. But I have never stop to think that it is because of empathy/distress that was why I continued to watch. Now I know and will use it to my advantage.

    Subject line: Ben’s Stacks Intrigue

What I learned doing this assignment is

Stacking intrigues don’t just make every act interesting for the audience, they make turning point that is already strong more powerful. This can engage the audience and have the need to watch episode after episode. They also increase the interest level of the pilot.

I will continue to change or improve the intrigues I have at the moment.

Why is Terra helping Rain get into the Affinity Academy?

What is Aloe mission in going into the Affinity Academy?

What is the relationship between Terra and Rain?

What is the relationship between O’ller, Terra, and Rain?

Main Open Loop: Will Rain learn magic?

    Sub-Open Loops:

    Will Mo replace Terra?

    Will Terra repair the rift?

Will the rift destroy the world?

Will Terra find out Mo’s scheme with teachers? And what will become of their relationship?

Will Rain get into the Affinity Academy?

    Will Old Beggar help Rain?

What will Rain do now that she knows the truth why Eucher abandoned her?

    Will Rain get caught?

What I learned doing this assignment is

I’m going for perfection when this is just first draft. And because of it I haven’t been able to post my assignment sooner. I don’t know when I will let it go, but it’s something definitely working on.

My BW framework has intrigues I left out when I was writing descriptions because I felt that they didn’t belong in there, but this assignment showed me that they do in fact belong in there. They double the intrigue of what I have already written. Now, I’m using those intrigues in my BW framework to point the reader to certain things.

What I learned doing this assignment is

I realized I have been using one of the investigation tools to mine my story. And when I try to use other investigation tools, I find myself coming back to that one investigation tool. I need to get used to using whatever investigation tool is needed for certain situation.

I thought I had come up with everything I needed, but I found loopholes and a few things that will change who goes up against Terra at the end of season five. All I have to do is set up everything across four seasons to get to season five, if it does get to that.

I also realized I can’t think beyond what I have already discovered. Maybe I’m not being intentional enough or I think what I have discovered is enough and not look deeper. So I will leave things like that for future discoveries.

    ASSIGNMENT:

Do a complete investigation on your TV Pitch Bible to discover more depth, layers, and intrigue.

    3. Evaluate the possibilities and decide what you are going to use in the different parts of your TV Pitch Bible. Divide the answers into three categories:

    Use in TV Pitch Bible.

    – Reed will be plotting to take control of his father power — this will also go in the BW framework.

    – Reed purpose will change to him wanting his father to experience being controlled – this will also go in the BW framework.

    – In Season Five, the number of people up against Terra is less. Not the entire underworld of magic anymore. Terra planned everything from the beginning to make sure no one opposes him in the end. He has the entire world in the palm of his hand.

    Use in Episodes.

    – Terra hands over his position to Mo. To prevent future troubles, Mo will try to kill Terra, but Terra uses their friendship to make Mo spare him.

    – Mo discovers Rain is searching for a way to lift curse, so he sends Natchez and Sparrow to investigate Rain.

    – Rain turns out cursed. To prevent Rain discovering his conspiracy, Terra executes his plan a head of time — he exposes Rain.

    – Strange man turns out to be Terra’s man planning to acquire power, so Terra uses Mo to remove him.

    – Rain discovers a sorceress who believes she is meant to accomplish great things cursed her, but the curse can be undone if she accomplishes her mission. A mission which will be reveal to her by following the signs.

    Don’t use.

    – I haven’t discovered something I wouldn’t use.

Subject line: Ben’s Episode List Rough Draft

What I learned doing this assignment is

I didn’t think I would come up with 13 episodes. I was thinking of 8, but the hardest part was coming up with the events for each episode. I know I was working on the main events only, but it was still difficult and requires a lot of thinking. Episode 1 was easy. I did a lot of thinking on that already. The rest, some of them I came up with more after a lot of thinking while the others have less. I will leave all that to when I start working on the outlines.

    Subject line: Ben’s Show Summary

What I learned doing this assignment is

Using The Ozark example helped me find the intrigues I needed to write a better show summary. It is longer than three paragraphs Hal wanted me to do, but that’s okay. I have accomplished what I wanted and I there will be time in future to bring it down to three paragraphs. I haven’t tried out other formats though. I should find time and try them out. Who knows, I might discover something that surprises me.

    PILOT AS INCITING INCIDENT

    SHOW SUMMARY – DRAFT

Rain’s an ugly 15-yr-old girl dealing with her beggar’s life problems. Everyone, including beggars, even the ugly ones shun her; her jealous adopted beggar sister has taken over their shelter and force her out of the city or things could get worse. But all that changes when her adopted father, Old Beggar, found her birth father.

Wanting to find out the truth of her abandonment, Rain discovers that her birth father abandoned her because she’s ugly to learn magic and bring pride to the family.

Hurt, Rain locks herself away. When she emerged, Rain tells Old Beggar her decision to learn magic and prove her birth father wrong and wants Old Beggar to help get into Affinity Academy. Old Beggar refuses because magic is taught to pretty ones, and anyone caught breaking it is executed without trial.

Angered, Rain decides to find her own way. She meets Mani, who takes advantage of her and charges her double than he normal would. Rain then goes to find a job from a grocery man. Grocery man instead mocks her and Rain steals his money, but she gets caught and beaten almost to death.

Old Beggar finds a way to get the doctor to treat Rain and Rain uses her condition and life to threaten Old Beggar into helping her. Old Beggar brings Rain to his old acquaintance, strange sorcerer, who can make Rain a special disguise, but the disguise comes with a great price – wearing it for too long will lead to the person’s demise. Rain goes a head with it, but strange sorcerer tells her because of her condition, the disguise will kill her faster.

With sudden death in the corner and the possibility of getting caught and executed, Rain must work hard and quickly learn magic or die.

How does someone who might die or get caught any moment accomplish a goal that seems near, yet far?

    Subject line: Ben’s Character Descriptions

What I learned doing this assignment is

This assignment is very challenging. Perfection getting in the way, as always, no matter how many times I tell myself I need to let it go. It just happens. The most difficult thing with this assignment is that most characters have intrigues that happened in the past and putting that in the description was hard. The only character I wrote the description with ease is O’ller. Maybe because her part in the Binge Worthy Framework is about things that are happening right now and in the future. Rain, Terra, and Mo have things that happened in the past. Or a character is in possession of a body and deceiving everyone, like Rain. I had to choose how to write her character since her appearance is a woman and the reveal is a man in a woman’s body. It was truly difficult. Reed didn’t come off like others, I mean his intrigues in the Binge Worthy Framework didn’t seem much in the description. Perhaps I need to look into his character.

    CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

    MAIN CHARACTERS

    RAIN

A vengeful and distrustful man betrayed and killed by his brother has one purpose — to exact revenge. To realize his vision, he killed and took over the body of innocent child — the one he’s currently using as a vessel to hide and seek revenge. He’s brutal, driven, antisocial and has lost faith in family.

When he discovered his brother cursed the girl her body he possess, his purpose becomes possible. To exact his revenge, he’s willing to play along to discover his brother’s conspiracy, conspired with his brother to break and change the rule, go ahead with the disguise that will lead to his demise, and use changing the rule to recruit the average and ugly ones to turn them into his army.

    REED

A submissive and obedient son following his father’s orders to learn magic wants to become his own person. A goal that will require him to be rebellious, unforgiving, and do unimaginable things.

When he discovered the woman he loves isn’t who he thought she is and plan to change the rule, his dream become possible. With that in mind, he’s willing to hunt down and hurt the woman he loves, take his best friend hostage, use changing the rule to influence his father, and violate the most important thing to him, their family value.

    MO

An uncompromising father and head of Sparrow Agency wants to make their family the most powerful family. A purpose that will make him abandon the woman he loves with his unborn child and plot with teachers to replace his best friend as the head of their school.

When he realized a girl who broke the rule to learn magic in their school will further his agenda, he’s willing to sacrifice others, use his son to hunt down the woman he loves to force her to change the rule, reveal the mystery of teaching magic to pretty ones to the world, and let his son defy him and break their family value.

    TERRA

A Celestial amongst mortal with one vision — to comprehend his magic. A purpose that will make him deceive the entire world about the mystery of teaching magic to pretty ones, kill his own brother, and hold the woman he loves captive. He’s manipulative, deceptive, and passionate.

When he realized the brother he murdered and trying to murder is his only solution to achieve his <font face=”inherit”>goal, he’s willing to curse and abandon a </font>new-born<font face=”inherit”> baby, manipulate innocent child to change the rule </font>he introduced to lure his brother, and use his own child to threaten his brother.

Ironically, he created the world to comprehend the magic, but fall in love with the magic (woman).

    O’LLER

A cold and indifferent mother, but nice to those she cares for, only wants one thing – to protect and keep her child safe. A good intention that will require her to do things she never thought she could. She’s focus and caring.

When Terra proposed to marry her and use their child for his own selfish motive, her vision becomes possible. With only protecting and keeping her child safe on her mind, she’s willing to marry her enemy, use magic with great price, adopt her niece as leverage, conspired with her enemy to curse and abandon her child, and fake her best friend and her child death to secretly train her army to bring down her enemy, all while under the nose of Terra.

    Subject line: Ben’s Five Seasons

What I learned doing this assignment is other than farming my Binge Worthy Framework to create five seasons, I was able to create descriptions that are to the point even though some of them are long. From this assignment I have noticed something wrong with most descriptions I read out there – in that those descriptions tend to include story B,C etc and not get to the point or lack hooks or what the story is really about. This assignment helped me avoid all that.

    ASSIGNMENT:

    WHITE PHOENIX FIVE SEASONS

    SEASON ONE: LEARNING MAGIC

After Rain discovered her birth father abandoned her because she’s ugly to learn magic and bring pride to the family, she decides to learn magic and prove her birth father wrong. An impossible mission in a world that teaches magic to pretty ones, but all that change when her adopted father, Old Beggar, presents to her the plan she desperately needs for her vision to become a reality – using disguise to enter Affinity Academy and learn magic without getting caught and killed.

Unfortunately, Rain discovers she’s cursed to never learn magic and must find a way to lift the curse, but her cover’s blown before she does and Mo Dune, who has taken over the head of Affinity Academy, sends Sparrow agents to arrest her. Mo Dune tortures Rain to get the information out of her and when she doesn’t, he locks her up to be executed. Fortunately, Terra orders Shard Spear and his men to break into the prison and rescue Rain. After rescuing Rain, Terra convinces her to join him in his quest to change the rule.

    SEASON TWO: CHANGING THE RULE

Mo Dune puts his son, Reed, in charge of hunting down Rain and prevent her from changing the rule. While surviving the hunt, Rain discovers the best way to change the rule is to recruit the average and ugly looking ones.

With the average and ugly looking ones, Rain resists Reed and his Sparrow agents as their first step toward changing the rule. But Rain never thought it would lead Mo Dune to gather the underworld of magic and reveal to them the mystery of teaching magic to pretty ones, uniting them to crush Rain and her average and ugly looking ones.

SEASON THREE: UNDERWORLD OF MAGIC GOES TO WAR WITH RAIN

Mo Dune, the Leader of the Great Alliance, leads the underworld of magic to crush Rain and her average and ugly looking ones. Faced with great challenge and can’t find a way to fend off the Great Alliance, Rain must accept the fact that their annihilation is inevitable.

Just when all seems lost, Terra provides Rain the solution she desperately needs — making a deal with the Lord of the Shadow Warriors. With the Shadow Warriors, Rain and the average and ugly looking ones defeat the Great Alliance, but Terra discovers Rain is actually his brother Whyller he’s been searching for and captures her.

SEASON FOUR: THE MAGIC OF SHAI’RA

After capturing Rain, Terra tries to convince her to save his life, but when Rain refused, Terra takes Aloe and Reed hostage to threaten her. Left with no choice, Rain must find a way to save Terra.

When she does, Rain discovers Terra deceived her into helping him find the magic of their world to harness its power, but doing so will destroy their world.

    SEASON FIVE: INTELLIGENT BEINGS

Rain tells the underworld of magic Terra has found the source of their world magic and plans to harness it. It will not only make him the most powerful sorcerer, but doing so will destroy their world and must stop him, but the underworld of magic don’t believe Rain.

Rain reveals to them Terra is actually Skai Ruse and he introduced teaching magic to pretty ones to increase his magical powers, after which the underworld of magic bands with Rain to stop Terra from destroying their world. But Rain and the underworld of magic discover shocking truth — Terra is the Celestial who created their world to comprehend his magic (people and creatures of Shai’Ra who have become intelligent beings) and the magic of their world is the breakthrough Terra’s been searching for, and it will still destroy their world.

one place to look at when I need the information. It was worth doing this assignment.

And if anyone likes to exchange our Binge Worthy framework, please let me know.

Subject line: Ben’s Intriguing Concept and World

What I learned doing this assignment is not just about discovering what makes my show unique. I have discovered about my world, something I haven’t looked at before. With this important discovery I now know how characters will react or treat each other when they are in this world.

    ASSIGNMENT:

    Present your concept and world.

    1. Present your Concept.

    A. When a beggar girl discovers her birth father

    B. abandoned her because she’s ugly to learn magic

The unseen: The underworld of magic’s plan to keep the rule from being broken.

Unheard of Dangers: The underworld of magic will execute anyone who breaks the rule without trial.

Reason to explore it: There’s no better way to make Rain’s birth father a fool of himself – the irony in this situation.

WHITE PHOENIX WORLD: The cruel underworld of magic where learning magic is highly regarded, but the rule that magic is taught to pretty ones must be followed or anyone who breaks it is executed without trial.

    Subject line: Ben’s Creating Irony!

What I learned doing this assignment is if I look hard enough I would find any situations or characters I have created are actually irony even though I didn’t know. The only thing I can do is identify those situations or characters and I have my irony. It may take a while, but I believe that I will be able to do this with ease in future.

    ASSIGNMENT 1: Example Show

Watch the next episode of your Example Show and notice where irony shows up in this show — both in this episode and throughout the episodes you’ve already seen.

Subject line: Ben’s Plot and Character Layers

What I learned doing this assignment is I realized I have never paid attention to layers that appear in the shows I watch, but the whole show is actually riddled with layers. When I look at my example show and think back to discover layers, I find that it’s full of them. I didn’t write down all the layers I have discovered in my example show because there is just too many of them. Some layers need the entire series to reveal them. Others show up in the episodes.

With my show, I have discovered layers that create new story lines, ones I didn’t think of before. And My story has changed so much from when I first thought of it. One of the support characters will now become a main character. Some characters I created to be good or bad and have been searching for what would make the audience not think of them the same, I have come up with those. I seem to love creating layers. I’m constantly thinking of what is beneath characters, plot, or anything, and my show turns out to have layers even audiences wouldn’t notice until I reveal them.

    ASSIGNMENT 1: Example Show

Watch the next episode of your Example Show and notice how layers show up in this show — both in this episode and throughout the episodes you’ve already seen.

Tell us the layers you have discovered in the Example Show.

EXAMPLE SHOW LAYERS (SOME OF THEM): PRISON BREAK

    – Michael robs the bank just to get caught. Turned out he did it to break his brother out of the prison.

    – The tattoos on Michael’s entire body are actually his whole plan.

    – Veronica who represented Michael in court turned out to be close to Michael.

    – Lincoln killed the Vice President’s brother. Turned out he was setup.

    – Michael turned out be a structural engineer and he designed the prison.

    – Lincoln is actually Michael’s brother.

    – Linc is Lincoln’s secret identity.

    – Fish is Michael’s or any new prisoner’s secret identity.

    – LJ is Lincoln’s son.

    – Veronica is Lincoln’s ex-girlfriend.

    – Abruzzi used the picture of Veronica in his possession to threaten Michael to tell them whereabouts of

Fibonacci. Turned out Abruzzi and Michael conspired to fool Philly.

    – The address Michael told Philly turned out to be fake and has setup Philly to get caught by the police.

    Subject line: Ben’s Show Mysteries

What I learned doing this assignment is I worried about the things I shouldn’t right now. I thought of coming up with mystery type 1 that wouldn’t be a cliché or use as a teaser, or can be answered through out the entire season when I should focus solely on creating mysteries. I also had difficulty with using Hal’s way of creating cover up versus the cover up I had come up with for my show, creating more layers. But I have realized I shouldn’t worry about any of that and create mysteries, which is what Hal wanted me to do.

    ASSIGNMENT 1:

Watch the next episode of your Example Show and focus on the mysteries that have been created in that show. Also, notice the difference between the big picture mysteries that are a big part of the plot across the entire season versus the smaller mysteries.

Tell us about the mysteries from this show.

MYSTERY TYPE 1: WHAT HAPPENED THAT CUASED MICHAEL TO ROB A BANK JUST TO GET CAUGHT.

    A. Shocking Event: Michael robs the bank just to get caught.

    B. Secret: Michael’s brother, Lincoln, is setup and on a death row.

    C. Investigation: Veronica and Nick are investigating to uncover who setup Lincoln.

    WHO: Michael.

    WHAT: Robbing a bank.

    WHEN: Happening now.

    WHERE: Savings Bank.

WHY: Michael wants to go to prison to break out his brother.

HOW: Michael tattooed the plan on his entire body.

    PART WITHHELD:

Everything is revealed by the end of the pilot. This and the way the writers deal with mysteries in The 100 helped me come to a decision when I was making things difficult for myself.

MYSTERY TYPE 2: WHO KILLED THE VICE PRESIDENT’S BROTHER AND WHY.

    A. Cover up: Lincoln killed the Vice President’s brother.

    B. Secret: Who set Lincoln up and why?

    C. Reveals: In a flashback, Lincoln swore to Michael that he didn’t kill the Vice President’s

brother. And that he was setup. Michael himself did his own investigation, but it led to nowhere.

WHAT: Lincoln killed the Vice President’s brother.

    WHEN: Three years ago.

    WHERE: In the garage.

WHY: Lincoln has a grudge with the Vice President’s brother.

HOW: Lincoln shot the Vice President’s brother in his car.

    PART WITHHELD:

WHO: Who setup Lincoln and why?

    SMALLER MYSTERIES

Sue Parsons, woman pretending to be a reporter, visits Lincoln in the prison and threatens him with his son’s life.

Michael and Lincoln’s father abandoned them.

Charles Westmoreland finds his Cat dead in his cell.

The person who stole the evidence tape Veronica hid new exactly where to find it when only Veronica and Nick knew where she hid it.

Veronica and LJ’s mother have past relationship with Lincoln.

    ASSIGNMENT 2:

Create two mysteries for your show — one that shows up strong in the Pilot and the other that is revealed over time.

    1. Create your Shocking Event Mystery and tell us the WWWWW and H, along with the part withheld.

MYSTERY TYPE 1: RIFT IN THE SKY

    A. Shocking Event: A rift appears in the sky, sucking the land and everything into it.

    B. Secret: Terra created the rift to deceive people that their world is dying and

teaching magic to pretty ones will repair the rift.

    C. Investigation: Audiences have been set up to investigate what the rift is.

WHAT: A rift held by giant chains and sucking light.

    WHERE: In the sky.

    PARTS WITHHELD:

WHO: Eldore (Terra) created the rift.

    WHEN: Created a day ago.

WHY: To deceive people that their world is dying and teaching magic to pretty ones

    will repair the rift

    HOW: To hide the truth.

    2. Create the Over Time Mystery and tell us the WWWWW and H, along with the part withheld.

MYSTERY TYPE 2: MAGIC IS TAUGHT TO PRETTY ONES

    A. Cover up: Terra created the rift to deceive people that their world is dying and

teaching magic to pretty ones will repair the rift.

    B. Secret: Terra is harnessing pretty ones magic to increase his magical powers.

    C. Reveals: Rain finds her birth father, Eucher, and discovers that Eucher abandoned her

because she’s ugly to learn magic and bring pride to the family. Later, when Rain decides

to learn magic and wants her adopted father’s help. He refuses because there is a rule that

magic is taught to pretty ones and she will get executed.

WHO: Skai Ruse (Terra) introduced the rule.

    WHEN: Introduced 800 years ago.

    WHERE: Affinity Academy.

    PART WITHHELD:

WHAT: To increase Terra’s magical powers.

WHY: Terra wants to become the most powerful sorcerer in the world.

HOW: Terra harnesses the magic with Mystic Mountain Affinity Academy sits on and convert it into his own power.

Subject line: Ben’s Intriguing Character Layers

What I learned doing this assignment is I haven’t seen much of Character Intrigue being used in my example show. Maybe they will show up in later episodes or next seasons. Or it simply means that my character/s doesn’t/don’t need to have all Character Intrigue to make them interesting. If I can come up with all of them, good. If not, a few will suffice.

    ASSIGNMENT 1:

    1. Think about your Example Show. Make a list of the places you’ve already seen Character Intrigue in the previous episodes.

    Character name: Michael Scofield

Role: A structural engineer and Lincoln’s brother.

Hidden agendas: To break out his brother from the prison.

    Competition: ?

Conspiracies: With Lincoln, Abruzzi, and Sucre to break out of the prison.

Secrets: He’s planning to break his brother out of the prison.

Deception: He lies about being diabetic.

    Wound: ?

    Secret Identity: Fish.

Make changes in your BW framework and TV Pitch Bible. Every time you discover something new make changes in those two. Don’t worry about the rest.

Well, we don’t have TV Pitch Bible (I mean with everything put together like BW framework) so make changes in your assignments. That’s what I do.
