    Brad Best Producer/Manager
    1. How will you present yourself and your project to the producer?
Understanding that the producer needs something to market and sell, I will emphasize the elements of the script that make it more marketable. In this case, the unique aspect of a quirky campaign/election comedy set in South Dakota and that deals with popular issues from a different lens.

    2. How will you present yourself and your project to the manager?
I am capable of revisiting this cast of characters in other movies. I am capable of writing romantic comedies and dramas as well. I have range as a writer and I’m easy to work with.

    Brad Best’s Marketable Components
    1. Logline: When a clueless young attorney loses his job, he impulsively decides to run for political office, go up against the town hero and prove to his wife that he’s the better candidate and the better man.
    2. Components of Marketability
    • D. Timely — connected to some major trend or event.
    • E. It’s a first.
    3. Do a quick brainstorm session about ways to elevate those two components for this script and tell us how you might pitch the script through the two components.
Timely – Election issues are omnipresent and a campaign creates a sense of drama. A love triangle also adds tension.
It’s a first – Focused around the campaign for state senator in South Dakota. This comedy deals with Native American issues, independent women, LGBT, guns and more, all from a South Dakota perspective.
    4. What I learned doing this assignment is to focus more on the audience.

    Brad Best Project and Market

Genre – Fish out of water comedy
Title – The Race for Rushmore
    Concept –
When a clueless young attorney loses his job, he impulsively decides to run for political office, go up against the town hero and prove to his wife that he’s the better candidate and the better man.

Story Appeal – It’s a fresh take on hijinks on the campaign trail but also has protagonist mature from a self-absorbed entitled man to someone who leverages a team of rivals strategy.

    Target –
Producers – I’m not looking for a manager and the story doesn’t require an A list lead. If producers think it’s funny, they can sell it.

What I learned? Keep it simple and focused

    6. Finally, I agree not to bring suit against anyone in this group for any reason, unless they use a substantial portion of my copyrighted work in a manner that is public and/or that prevents me from marketing my script by shopping it to production companies, agents, managers, actors, networks, studios or any other entertainment industry organizations or people.
This completes the Group Release Form for the class.

    Hello all,
I’m Brad and I’m in Old Town San Diego.
I have one script so far. My ideas are mostly for comedies. When I go looking for a movie to watch, there are never enough good comedies. I’m interested in learning the business of how to pitch and make connections. I want to take my shot, so I’m here to learn how to make that possible.
I am an avid pinball player and own several games.

Taxi from 1988 is my favorite from that era. Bride of Pinbot is fun too. I mostly play new games from the last five years. Godzilla is the best.
