Hello Rebecca,
I second Michael’s comments. You are a talented writer and after reading your V3 Query. I was wondering if you have the actual "life rights" to the story of this family. If you do, this is a BIG buzz word that producers like — therefore, I would recommend putting it inside your query. If you do not you mentioned that you are connected to Eleanor, perhaps you can ask about getting this in writing. I can see this as a limited series with lots of conflict and drama.
Best of luck,
Eden

Eden De Ruse-Moore High Concept/Elevator Pitch (rewrite)
What I learned doing this assignment: Your elevator pitch should be short and not filled with lots of descriptive words —
1. High Concept:
When POTUS reveals she’s pregnant her husband a former Yankee takes on the role of Mother Goose in the White House.
2. Most interesting way possible:
Dilemma – Married to POTUS has it’s perks but being known as the nation’s First Daddy is NOT one of them.
Main Conflict – A former Yankee ballplayer is determined to prove to a nation he can care for a baby and remain faithful to his wife.
What’s at stake? If this ballplayer cannot get a grip on his new identity, he may lose his family and jeopardize his wife’s administration.
Goal/Unique Opposition – How can this former Yankee keep his “man-card” when he’s constantly told to get in touch with your feminine side.
3. Elevator Pitch:
1. I’m finishing up a story about an Ex-Yankee who becomes the First Daddy, juggling diapers and diplomacy in the White House.”
It’s: The American President meets Three Men and A Baby -
Yankee Doodle Daddy – Eden De Ruse-Moore Phone Pitch
What I learned from this lesson is: You can give a pitch over the phone but it needs to be short and specific to the production company.
Write out your phone pitch along with answers to the questions:1) I will lead with :
• High Concept: Hi, I’m Eden De Ruse-Moore, and I have a Pregnant POTUS script where the husband a former Yankee ballplayer must become Mother Goose.2) Script for phone call pitches:
• Credibility: I’m an optioned screenwriter, my screenplay Yankee Doodle Daddy was a recent finalist in the New York Metropolitan Screenwriters and Film Awards.
• Great Title: Hi I’m Eden De Ruse-Moore and I have a feel-good, dramedy titled Yankee Doodle Daddy.
• Business Hook: Hi I’m Eden De Ruse-Moore and I have a screenplay similar to Barbie but with a unique focus.3) Give us a one or two sentence answer to the questions a producer may ask:
• What’s the budget range? – Mid Budget $15 to 30 Million
• Who do you see in the main roles? – Joe Harley – Former Yankee ballplayer: Jake Gyllenhaal; Glen Powel; Theo James; Zena Harley – POTUS: Jennifer Lawrence; Anna Kendrick; Eliza Gonzalez Jefferson –Grandfather: Patrick Stewart; Liam Neeson/ Benji – Former Yankee Coach: James Gandolfini. Agent Carter – Secret Service: Daryl McCormack, Rege-Jean Page
• How many pages is the script? 120 pages
• Who else has seen this? ScreenCraft Fellowship Review Panel
• Why do you think this fits our company?
My story aligns with films that you have previously, produced. Yankee Doodle Daddy is a high concept script and by design it is similar to the box office hit film, Barbie. Which makes it enticing to investors. The film uses comedy to address serious issues of identity, parenthood and the pressures of public office, ensuring that there is small scale drama and macro-political scandals baked into the core concept.
• How does the movie end? POTUS thwarts a Russian invasion, Joe regains his identity and his true love and support for his wife deepens. He testifies before Babygate, his arguments save the day. He declares to the media, that as The First Daddy he will continue to raise his daughter to be just like her mommy, so she can grow up to be a strong leader.-

Eden De Ruse-Moore Query Letter
What I learned doing this assignment is a Bio. can be 2 or 3 sentences.
Joe Harley a home run king, known for hitting fast balls is now the father of the First Fetus.
The President Elect, surprises her husband on Inauguration Day, whispering, “Joe, I think, I’m pregnant.” This former playboy/pro-ballplayer will soon trade his gym bag in for a Hello Kitty, diaper bag.
Joe intends to prove to a nation that he can be the perfect Mother Goose. However, cut-throat D.C. politics complicates everything. To make matters worse, he’s constantly being told to connect with his feminine side but to never “give up” his man-card.
Like the smash-hit film, Barbie. Think – Just Ken in the White House. Joe’s entire life, was baseball, but now he’s challenged with a crisis of identity. Joe knows he must “get a grip” and significantly turn things around or he will lose his wife and put her entire administration in jeopardy.
If you like the concept, I’d be happy to send you the script.
Sincerely,

• Goal/Unique Opposition – How do you keep your “man-card” when you’re constantly told to get in touch with your feminine side.
Elevator Pitch:
I’m finishing up a story that answers the question if America ever had a pregnant President who would take care of her baby?

Eden De Ruse-Moore 10 Most Interesting Things
“What I learned doing this assignment is backstory is not necessary in a pitch.1) Joe’s official title, FGOTUS, clashes with his home run king identity.
2) Zena (aka POTUS) goes into labor during the All Star game.
3) Senator Crawford leads an investigation on the Capitol Hill coined Babygate.
4) Zena and Joe play strip Monopoly on Air Force One.
5) Joe is shamed on national TV by the Baby Czar for having no parenting skills.
6) Joe needing baby care back-up, does not hire any professional nannies, instead he hires three dudes he knows he can depend on.
7) Joe has a heated argument in Tokyo with Zena because he feels neglected.
8) POTUS is told that Russia is poised to invade Minsk.
9) To the surprise of everyone, including his attorney — Joe does not plead spousal privilege nor does he take the 5th when he testifies before Babygate.
10) Zena is ready for a second child but Joe is not.

Subject Line: Eden De Ruse-Moore Producer/Manager
What I learned today is that the role of the manager is to have a journey and our job as professional writers is to bring our scripts along for the ride and let them lead the way.
How will you present yourself and your project to the producer?
I’ll present myself as a professional, who’s ultimate goal is to get a film made. Sharing that my current project aligns with films in their wheelhouse which they’ve produced. Stating that my current project Yankee Doodle Daddy is a high concept script and by design it is similar to the box office hit film, Barbie. Which makes it enticing to investors. Also leveraging the fact that the story will relate to a global audience means it will attract domestic and international distribution. How will you present yourself and your project to the manager?
I’ll present myself as an individual who is highly collaborative, and share my collaborative track record. I’d also mention that I have been involved in paid writing gigs in the past and I’m open to more in the future. Taking into account their skills as a manager I’d work with them on a strategic development plan beginning with my current project Yankee Doodle Daddy, a high concept screenplay. I’d continue to bring in marketable features so I can develop my career and become the next “go to” writer for the studios.-

Eden De Ruse-Moore: (1) Unique=High Concept / (2) Similarity to a box-office success.
What I learned doing this assignment is that it is best NOT to make your pitch a hodgepodge and hooks MUST create curiosity.
Yankee Doodle Daddy – Logline:
When a former Yankee goes from dugouts to diapers he’s determined to prove to a nation that he’s an ALL Star stay-at-home Dad, while his wife the first female president, leads the greatest nation on earth.1. In Yankee Doodle Daddy: The President finds out she’s pregnant on Inauguration Day, and tells her spouse the news as she’s about to be sworn in, (that’s unique). Given the situation, Operation First Fetus is to remain confidential until the State of the Union but when there’s a leak – the White House needs to spin it. In my pitch, I pose the question, does POTUS get maternity leave? Why does her husband, the former Yankee not want to hire a Nanny? Will a Senate Investigation (coined Babygate) have legs and lead to an impeachment? How will perpetual cut-throat politics collide with parenting?
2. Joe’s entire adult life has been based on one thing: being a Yankee. But as the First Daddy he experiences a crisis of identity, and later a reckoning of his own masculinity and personal flaws. Similar to Barbie, (box office success). Think Ken in the White House – Joe is known to most as a dumb jock, which gives him anxiety, and he’s often criticized for: “not being in touch with his feminine side.” Yet while POTUS runs the nation he’s devoted to all things baby; 24/7. Joe doesn’t fit in anywhere. I’d add to the pitch that the media reacts to his baby blunders every chance they get.

Lesson 1
1. Genre – Dramedy. Title – Yankee Doodle Daddy
When the first female president finds out on Inauguration Day that she’s pregnant, her spouse a former Yankee takes on all things baby, while an entire nation weighs in on his parenting.
2. In one or two sentences, tell us what you think is most attractive about your story. With a pregnant POTUS, this is a high concept screenplay. Since it is told from her husband’s POV; a former Yankee ballplayer, he is a true fish out of water and comedy ensues with plenty of politics and baseball.
3. Tell us which you will target FIRST — I’d target an actor’s production company because he or she can add more credibility & momentum to the project. My screenplay has a strong male lead and as for the female, while not the protagonist the POTUS character makes for a desirable and compelling character.
4. Answer the question “What I learned today is…?” Marketing is meant to be fun, clever words are unnecessary and it’s important to find the open door in the right market . I also discovered that I’m clueless when it comes to reading instructions online.
Is this where I copy and paste my assignments? It doesn’t look like the page per the youtube video.
