1. Give us your genre, title, & concept
a. Genre: American post-apocalyptic neo-western
b. Title: Charred Earth (also the title of the poem)
c. Concept: When a six year old girl survives a neo-American civil war by hiding in a wall, then scavenging and foraging for the next decade, she decides to venture out for revenge against the men in crazy hats waving tattered flags.
2. In one or two sentences, tell us what you think is most attractive about your story.
a. My story is based upon a poem I wrote in a 24 hour poetry marathon a couple of years ago. Everyone who has read that poem always says “I want to know what happens next”. It’s about a six year old girl who survives a neo-American civil war, grows up alone, then gets revenge because she never learned to be afraid of powerful men. She’s crazy smart, like a wild lioness stalking her prey, unseen and unnoticed.
3. Tell us which you will target FIRST — managers, producers, or actor’s production company — and why you picked that target.
a. I have no idea who to target first. Maybe an actor’s production company. The lead actress is late teens, early 20s. Maybe there’s something I haven’t read yet, but I’m not sure of the pros and cons of targeting any of those three groups first.
4. Answer the question “What I learned today is…?”
a. The poem contains many of the elements of the Joker first scene, so I should expand upon that and write it in screenplay format.

I hate to admit that I’ve started dozens of screenplays since 1988, but not finished a full length one yet.
I hope to learn to punch up / tighten up scenes.
Something about me… not sure what to call it other than the truth: I am Marilyn Monroe & Arthur Miller’s kidnapped (in August 1962) daughter.

Hi Joan,
I think a lot of people would watch it. I know I would. We’ve all had friends at some point in time who wouldn’t leave abusive situations for whatever reason – or been in those situations ourselves and struggled through whether or not to leave. There’s all the rationalizations about staying… the kids, the family, religion, money, jobs, house, and on and on, not to mention fear!
Six days raises the stakes, too. There’s a deadline, pun intended. Small primary cast also makes it appealing to producers. I think you’ve got a winner.
