Iliona’s Character Interviews

“What I learned doing this assignment is that I gave them a voice fir the first time and I now know how they talk. I know the language they use. I now have a real feel of their personalities and character traits. Knowing how they talk will help me with the dialogue”

    <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>1. <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>Tell me about yourself.

If I have to be honest, the first thing I should start with is the fact that I am broke. Not just broke but like brokeee. That’s all I can think about lately. Honestly I don’t know if it’s my fault or if I’m just the unluckiest guy on earth. Never once in my life things turned out exactly how I wanted. So I stopped wishing a long long time ago. My wife also left me. I should say my “ex wife! She thinks I’m a loser and that I never knew how to love her. I’m apparently not very good at showing love. That’s among a lot of other things I am apparently not good at. And because I wasn’t always able to pay for child support she only let me see my daughter once a month. Yes I have a daughter. She’s the light of my life. I wish she would never miss anything in her life. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth if you know what I mean. If only I was rich, things would be so different. I wish I could win the lottery or something. I’m sure if I had money all my problems would be solved. How can you be happy when you’re broke? Nobody would miss me if I was kidnapped or shit. Sometimes I wonder if the government doesn’t intentionally fuck up people’s life so they get broke and unhappy. I’ve read a lot of conspiracies shit and I think there’s a lot of suspicious shit happening. Sorry I say shit a lot but that’s how I feel. I feel like shit. My mom would kill me for using that word. You know I was never allowed to curse as a child. It was against the rules. Yeah I grew up with a lot of rules and belief about god and heaven but I don’t believe in anything. I think it’s all made up bullshit to sell the Bible. Btw I am wondering who gets the profits for this book. Seriously, where does the money go to? Probably one of those satanic families that rule the world. So there’s no bible in my house. My mom says that’s why I am lost. My boss also says I’m lost. No actually he didn’t say it like this. He said that I lost it. I am a car seller and I haven’t sold a car in weeks. Do I talk too much? I’ve been told that many times.

    2. Why do you think you were called to this journey? Why you?

I might have insulted someone up there and they’re trying to make a point. Why would I be offered $1M a day? Why me? Why would she change my life like this. I don’t know you tell me. I don’t understand why she picked me? I’m the most unbeliever guy on this planet. Oh maybe I did something good at some point in my life. Or maybe I’m just the luckiest motherfucker on earth after all. I’m leaving the dream.

    3. You are up against <the Antagonist>. What is it about them that makes this journey even more difficult for you?

I never met any magician in my life. Like real magic shit not like Las Vegas fake cards tricks. I don’t know if she’s a magician or a witch. And if she’s a witch is she a good or bad witch? I’m spending all that money but I am scared you know. She told me what would happen if I didn’t spend it. She freaks me out.

    4. In order to survive or accomplish this, you are going to have to step way outside of your box. What changes do you expect to make and which of them will be the most difficult?

Step way outside of my box? Madam, I am fucking rich now. I don’t know that box and now I need to survive being rich. It’s like my richness is a big joke. I’m not supposed to talk about it but it’s a fucking spell you know. Like a poisoned lottery ticket. I’ll do everything to survive. I know I said early that nobody would miss me if I disappeared but I have a daughter you know. I don’t want to fuck her up. I love her too much. So for her I’ll do anything. Don’t judge me.

    5. What habits or ways of thinking do you think will be the most difficult to let go of?

I am a rich man. I’ve never been rich so I have stop thinking like a poor guy. I don’t know how rich people think. I’ve never met any.

    6. What fears, insecurities and wounds have held you back?

I’ve always been told that I am no good enough by my parents, my friends, my co-workers and even my teachers at school told me that. I don’t think I deserve to be happy. It’s not my fault if I was broke you know. It’s the system. I didn’t chose this.

    7. What skills, background or expertise makes you well-suited to face this conflict or antagonist?

I don’t have any specific skills and definitely no expertise but I’ll figure it out. I don’t the choose anyways.

    8. What are you hiding from the other characters? What don’t you want them to know?

The truth obviously. I can never tell them or let them figure out where this sudden money comes from. Otherwise it will be the end of me. That’s what I signed up for. That’s part of the pact I made with the witch.

    9. What do you think of <the Antagonist>?

I am not sure what to think of her but she kind of freaks me out. If she’s capable of that she’s capable of everything. She does black magic shit.

    10. <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>Tell me your side of this whole conflict / story.

I got was I asked for. I was complaining about being broke and wishing to be rich. She said she could make my dream come true but I know this money can get me killed too. I knew what was coming. Spending that much money is not that easy and I didn’t realize that. Now I feel like I am fucked<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>

<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>11. What does it do for your life is you succeed here?

I can have my daughter back and finally be happy. I just want to be with her, you know. I miss her.<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>

    <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>

    <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>THE AFRICAN WITCH

    1. Tell me about yourself.

Well, I can say I have supernatural abilities. I do things and I see things that most humans can’t. You can call me a witch, a magician or an enchantress but I am just a life guide really.

    2. Having to do with this journey, what are your strengths and weaknesses?

I can take different apparences, I read mind, I can see the future, my powers are limitless. The only thing I can’t do is bring a dead person back to life.

    3. <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>Why are you committed to making the Protagonist fail? Or for a relationship movie, why are you committed to making them change?

I want to prove to him that he’s responsible of his own happiness and money was never the reason why he couldn’t be happy. I want him to live its best life. But he also need to understand money greediness comes with a curse. Money is supposed to be shared and make many people happy. He can’t just keep it for himself .<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>

<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>4. What do you get out of winning this fight / succeeding in your plan / taking down your competition?

It will be another soul I saved. I am a savior. I put people on their right path. And if they sin, I’m here to help them remember.<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>

<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>5. What drives you toward your mission / agenda, even in the face of danger, ruin, or death?

This mission is what I was sent for. I am meant to help people and offer them a 2nd chance in life. I want him to believe that everything is possible.<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>

<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>6. <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>What secrets must you keep to succeed? What other secrets do you keep out of fear / insecurity?

He doesn’t know I am his guardian angel and I know everything about him

<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>7. Compared to other people like you, what makes you special?

Have you ever met someone with my powers? So you have your answer. My spells change lives

    <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>8. What do you think of <the Protagonist>?

Despite the fact his life is catastrophic at the moment, he has a good heart and deserves to be helped. He deserves a 2nd chance in life .Jared has been blaming everyone and everything for years. He is convinced that because he grew up poor, he is set to die poor. He’s convinced that money is the key to happiness so I need to let him experience it and see what comes out of it. <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>

<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>9. Tell me your side of this whole conflict / story.

Be careful what you wish for because you might just get it. That is what I am proving to Jared. Wishing to be a millionaire can just ruin your life. People love to complain but you can’t blame others for your unhappiness and especially not when you’re rich. I am like Aladdin, I make wishes come true, but with each wish comes a curse.<b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>

    Iliona’s Transformational journey

What I learned doing this assignment is to think deeply about the entire arc of my hero and know where I intend to go with his personal story before even starting writing a line of script.

Who is your Hero and what is their Character Arc that represents a transformation?

Jared thinks that he’s the unluckiest guy on earth and that everything and everyone are against him. He’s drowning in debts, his wife left him, he’s only allowed to see his daughter one weekend a month and he just lost his job.

Internal Journey: From feeling helpless, lost and unhappy to being fulfilled, grateful and finding true happiness

External Journey: From being broke, self-centered, pessimistic to becoming rich, generous, caring and an extrovert

    What are the Old Ways?

    1. Not a believer

    2. Thinks money will solve all his problems

    3. Thinks he’s the unluckiest guy on earth

    4. Doesn’t value his life

    What are the New Ways?

    1. Believes in magic

    2. Realizes that all he wants is to feel respected and loved

    3. Understands he’s in charge of his own happiness

    4. Finds out money doesn’t solve all issues
