Aloha, fellow scribes! I am not from Hawaii, however, I really love the Aloha spirit. 😉 My name is Julia Farsadi. I am a connector and really enjoy meeting new people. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me whenever the mood strikes and I will get back to you.

I have been a writer/actor for the past two decades amidst doing a lot of other things. I am a member of SAG-AFTRA and have my undergrad degree in film and a masters degree in Spiritual Psychology.

I have written three full-length features and several TV specs and original pilots. In 2018, I was a Finalist in the NBC Writers on the Verge fellowship program for writing an Arrow spec and an original pilot about a hard-nosed detective whose wife’s murder is still unsolved ten years after her death. Several of my specs and pilots have placed in the quarterfinals or semis of many contests, but never won. I’m here to change that!

What I hope to get out of the class is SHARPER SKILLS and GREAT RELATIONSHIPS with fellow writers and creatives like yourselves.

Something unique about me: I just completed my second masters
degree (I know, I seem to like school) in Jungian Psychology and Archetypal Studies. This was a deep
dive into our archetypal roots and the mythopoetic imagination where amazing stories are drawn from…

GROUP RELEASE FORM

As a member of this group, I agree to the following:

1. That I will keep the processes, strategies, teleconferences, communications, lessons, and models of the class confidential, and that I will NOT share any of this program either privately, with a group, posting online, writing articles, through video or computer programming, or in any other way that would make those processes, teleconferences, communications, lessons, and models of the class available to anyone who is not a member of this class.

2. That each writer’s work here is copyrighted and that writer is the sole owner of that work. That includes this program which is copyrighted by Hal Croasmun. I acknowledge that submission of an idea to this group constitutes a claim of and the recognition of ownership of that idea.

I will keep the other writer’s ideas and writing confidential and will not share this information with anyone without the express written permission of the writer/owner. I will not market or even discuss this information with anyone outside this group.

3. I also understand that many stories and ideas are similar and/or have common themes and from time to time, two or more people can independently and simultaneously generate the same concept or movie idea.

4. If I have an idea that is the same as or very similar to another group member’s idea, I’ll immediately contact Hal and present proof that I had this idea prior to the beginning of the class. If Hal deems them to be the same idea or close enough to cause harm to either party, he’ll request both parties to present another concept for the class.

5. If you don’t present proof to Hal that you have the same idea as another person, you agree that all ideas presented to this group are the sole ownership of the person who presented them and you will not write or market another group member’s ideas.

6. Finally, I agree not to bring suit against anyone in this group for any reason, unless they use a substantial portion of my copyrighted work in a manner that is public and/or that prevents me from marketing my script by shopping it to production companies, agents, managers, actors, networks, studios or any other entertainment industry organizations or people.

Nice to meet you. Congrats on your success both in biz and in writing. What other classes did you take with Hal and Cheryl?

I agree there is so much we can always be improving on and that 1% difference could be the difference between selling a script or winning a contest or not. I admire your discipline and work ethic. Writing is a real trade craft, imo.

Hi Cassie,

I love sketch comedy and my improv classes as an actor have been some of my favorite. Have you been to many sketch comedy shows? If/when you come out to Los Angeles, I highly recommend catching a show whether with The Groundlings, Second City, or the Improv among the dozens of others around town.

Houston is a great city! I have very close friends who live there and I once stayed with them for three months when I was “between” living spaces!

You mentioned a “screenwriter’s safari” in your earlier reply to my post–please tell me more! I have never heard of such a thing. Also, am I supposed to know the woman you went on the safari with (Jen Grisanti) since you mentioned her name? Is she a fellow scribe?

Hi Ruthie,

Great to hear your success story and that you feel Hal’s classes contributed to that success. You’re not joking about keeping up! 100 lessons over the next six months sounds daunting, but inspiring too. Just finished lesson 4 today and am creatively breathing hard! Hah!

By the way, what class did you take previously with Hal? Also, did you ever get any feedback from Hal on any of the lessons you turned in? It feels a little weird to be emailing all these exercises to him, but get no response.

I am also looking forward to when a forum is opened up for us to share our ideas, creative processes, and struggles with each other, which I think begins in Mod 2.
