Hi Cheryl, I am taking this course to enable me to review a screenplay that is based off a book I have written. I have contracted a screenplay writer, and I would like to have a better understanding of how screenplays should be written and what to look for. I am an author, not a screenplay writer. I have already found the audio and the information in today’s class very helpful and informative.
With that being said, I am taking this course for other reasons and will not be working on a screenplay myself, so I hope that it is okay that I just follow along with the lessons and not submit anything or partner up.
Looking forward to learning more about the process of writing screenplays.

Hello Everyone,
My name is Kerriann Flanagan Brosky. I am a full-time author of nine books, and I have been writing for 30 years. Eight of my books are non-fiction and I have one novel I’ve written which is called The Medal. It is in the development stages of becoming a movie.
I have created a professional screenplay outline, but I am not a screenplay writer. I will be working with a professional screenplay writer over the next several months, so I am taking this course to get a better idea of what to look for, and to understand the process of screenplay writing better. I want to make sure that when drafts are presented to me I will know what changes or additions should be made, if the screenplay is strong enough, and to be able to identify possible weak sections.
Something unique…. I am also a historian and ghost investigator. Four of my non-fiction books combine local history and ghost stories. I work with a paranormal investigator/medium, and we have investigated well over 100 presumably haunted places on Long Island, NY. What we do is not what you see in the movies. We take a very positive, spiritual approach to what we do. The main purpose is to promote and teach local history, and what better way to promote local history then through a ghost story.

5. If you don’t present proof to Hal that you have the same idea as another person, you agree that all ideas presented to this group are the sole ownership of the person who presented them and you will not write or market another group member’s ideas.
6. Finally, I agree not to bring suit against anyone in this group for any reason, unless they use a substantial portion of my copyrighted work in a manner that is public and/or that prevents me from marketing my script by shopping it to production companies, agents, managers, actors, networks, studios or any other entertainment industry organizations or people. agree to the terms of this release form.

Hi Mike,
Nice to meet you! I would have loved to partner with you, but I’m actually not working on a screenplay. I am taking this course for another reason. I had sent the message below to Cheryl and wanted to share it with you so you would understand. Thanks and good luck with the course!
