    Kristina’s Character Profile Part 2

What I learned today: I found this assignment quite hard and learned that this was party due to not yet having quite the right characters. I’ve changed both protagonist and antagonist substantially which made things easier. Still gaps though.

    Character Profile

    MICHAEL

Role in the story: Explorer: Non-believer but after his death in an untimely accident pushes his bounds of knowledge to become a skillful and dedicated guardian angel so he can woo his love interested from the afterlife.

Age range and Description: male, early 30’s. Magician that can be hired for parties.

Internal Journey: from fun but superficial party animal to having a deeper purpose, committed to his love interest. From I to we.

External Journey: from non-believer to guardian angel

Motivation: get the girl of his dreams

Wound: doesn’t believe he deserves love

Mission/Agenda: to come back to life, get a second chance

    Secret:

What makes them special? His ability to embrace the unexpected, improvise, and to get through to people even though they can’t see or hear him

What draws us to this character? We’re wondering how he will cope in a completely new “world” and what future he’ll manage to create.

Traits: Happy go lucky, charming, all about having fun. Romantic. Goes with the flow. But he can’t commit, is superficial and self absorbed. Manipulative. Believes everything is random, nothing has any consequences. Internally feels lost.

Subtext: tries not to feel what he’s feeling. Runs away to the next party

    Flaw: God complex, flakey

    Values: freedom, spontaneity, love

Irony: At the beginning of his arc he is both the opposite of his love interest as well as the opposite of a guardian angel

What makes this the right character for this role?

    Character Profile

    ELLA

Role in the story: Antagonist and Michael’s love interest

Change Agent: Medical researcher, up and coming star in the world of science. Brilliant, smart, and wants to change the world with her scientific breakthroughs. Not interested in romance. A non-believer until her love interest woos her as an angel from the afterlife.

Age range and Description: female, early 30’s. The next Marie Curie.

Internal Journey: from non-believer and non-romantic to someone who learns how to work with angels, trust her intuition, gets the signs, and falls in love. From I to we.

External Journey: from single-on-purpose scientist to in a relationship energy healer.

Motivation: make the world a better place

Wound: doesn’t believe she deserves love

Mission/Agenda: get the Nobel Prize. And save her terminally ill little nephew.

    Secret:

What makes them special? Her ability to “get” him and get his signs. Her intuition.

What draws us to this character? Her vulnerability when she opens up to love and how far she is prepared to go for love

Traits: Reliable, dedicated to her work, smart, committed, selfless, kind. Pure.

Subtext: buries herself in facts and would rather make a plan than ask her gut feeling

Flaw: God complex. Everything has to make sense. Doesn’t leave space for grace and serendipity.

    Values: facts, truth, commitment, kindness

Irony: she is a scientist who has to embrace spirituality

What makes this the right character for this role?

    Kristina’s Character Profiles Part 1

What I’ve learned: getting clearer on my characters

    Protagonist: Michael

Explorer: non-believer and small time lawyer who after his death in an untimely accident, pushes his bounds of knowledge to become a skillful and dedicated guardian angel so he can woo his love interested from the afterlife.

    Antagonist: Ella

Michael’s love interest who is a Change Agent:

Thinks she is the chosen one who can see and hear angels, channel messages and guide people to their destiny, but in reality is just a new age hippie.

Until he guides her from the afterlife to her true purpose as a lightworker / human angel on earth

    Other characters

    Supporting Characters

Georgia who is a rogue guardian angel. A bit like Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock, i.e. brilliant but socially inept. Like a guardian angel who has autism. (Or like Oda Mae Brown from Ghost but after she has died, ie. irreverent.) She no longer wants to be a guardian angel but just hang out in heaven and get some peace, be done with these troublesome humans. But somehow Michael has become her charge / her protégé and he becomes her one last mission.

    Genre

    Rom Com

What makes them special? His ability to embrace the unexpected, improvise, and to get through to people even though they can’t see or hear him

    Character Profile:

    Kristina Day’s Transformational Journey

    What I learned:

Asking myself today’s assignment questions has instantly brought the character into focus. And also, not to be afraid of setting my character up as a bit of a loser to start with or as someone who doesn’t have much going for him. That’s ok because then he has somewhere to go!

My hero: Michael, early 30s. Dies in an untimely accident.

Internal Journey: from feeling lost, being arrogant and self-absorbed to knowing his purpose, being selfless and truly connecting with his love interest

External Journey: from non-believing small time lawyer to guardian angel who woos his love interest from the afterlife

    Old Ways

Ignorant of angels, spiritual realms or spiritual support

scoffing at / ridiculing spiritual beliefs as woowoo, hippie-ish, crazy, stupid

    Non-believer

Arrogant, always needs to be right, self involved

Small time lawyer (? not sure about this yet)

Lacking purpose and meaning in life

    Feeling lost

    NEW WAYS

After his death he (reluctantly) becomes a guardian angel himself

To his surprise, he can see spiritual realms, other angels, and all sorts of spiritual beings

He learns to navigate how guardian angels work, e.g. how to get through to people and guide them

He successfully woos his love interest from the afterlife

His (after)life has purpose and meaning

    He becomes selfless

Hi I’m Kristina from London, England. I’m a spiritual coach, traveller, and entrepreneur.

I wanted to be a screenwriter back in 2012 and took loads of courses, mentorships etc for about 4 years. I wrote several scripts and plays, won a few competitions etc but nevertheless got a bit disillusioned with the industry and stopped writing in 2016.

I’m now coming back with a more realistic attitude. The passion for writing has never left.

I’ve always felt I have one more script idea that I’m really being called to get down – so here I am!

Something unusual about me? I’ve lived in Bali for the last three years, a real spiritual power place and beautiful as paradise 🙂 🌴🏝
