    Matthew Lutz’s Transformational Journey

My Vision: To be an in-demand, confident writer with several hit projects produced, and to be known for being amongst the best in the business at balancing heart and hilarity, having a strong voice, and witty dialogue.

    Assignment:

    Protagonist Arc:

Arc Beginning: Fallon starts as a meticulous and dedicated screenwriter with a passion for detail and authenticity in her work. Her primary limitation is her blind trust in the integrity of the project and her colleagues.
Arc Ending: By the end, Fallon transforms into a disillusioned yet morally fortified individual who understands the complexities and ethical ambiguities of her industry. She emerges as a whistleblower, ready to expose the truth despite the personal and professional risks. This represents a significant shift from an enthusiastic participant to a courageous truth-seeker.

    Internal/External Journey.:

Internal Journey: Fallon’s internal journey is marked by a growing conflict between her professional ambitions and her moral compass. Initially thrilled by the project, she becomes increasingly suspicious and conflicted as she uncovers the heist plot. This journey challenges her beliefs about right and wrong and forces her to redefine her values and identity as a writer and individual.
External Journey: Externally, Fallon moves from being an engaged screenwriter researching her script to actively investigating the discrepancies and anomalies she uncovers, eventually taking on the role of a detective. Her actions shift from creative involvement to covert investigation and finally to confrontation and exposure of the heist.

    Old Ways / New Ways:

Old Ways: At the beginning, Fallon is characterized by her naivety and an idealistic view of the filmmaking world. She immerses herself in her work, often overlooking the broader implications of her projects. She trusts her colleagues implicitly and is focused solely on artistic and professional success.
New Ways: By the end, Fallon’s experiences lead her to a more skeptical and vigilant perspective. She becomes a critical thinker who questions not just the motives of those around her but also the ethical implications of her work. She stands ready to act on her convictions, even against powerful adversaries.

    2. Not sure how many scripts I’ve written. Let’s just say somewhere around a dozen or so … maybe more (5-6 features and probably the same number-ish of TV pilots … some written with writing partners, some solo)

    3. What do I hope to get out of the class? I have been utilizing AI every day with work, and have even been using it with screenwriting over the past year. I would like to unlock the level of my writing and a ‘ninja level’ ability to use AI as a brainstorming tool. My ultimate goals are to parley that into getting more scripts completed (and into shopping mode) and set myself apart from screenwriters not yet adopting AI

    4. Something unique, special, strange or unusual about you? I have a great sense of humor … I used to hide that in professional settings and new networking situations in order to play small and remain a safe wall flower. The moment I stopped doing that, my confidence grew, my connections went deeper/faster, and people started to lean into me more than before. I also married waaaaaaaaay above my fighting class (see previous comment about sense of humor). I got lucky that I found someone who likes to laugh as much as me … we (and our 4 kids) keep each other young!
