Richard Pierre Producer/Manager
1. How will you present yourself and your project to the producer?
I will focus on highlighting the castable roles in the script and mention big name actors who would be a great fit. I’d discuss other marketable elements of the script. Finally, I’d convey enthusiasm to accepting any notes, demonstrate I’m receptive to feedback, and eager to collaborate
2. How will you present yourself and your project to the manager?
I will communicate my openness to working together to build my career. listen and communicate the projects I’ve written that are most sellable.
3. Answer the question “What I learned today is…?”
You need to hone your pitch depending on whether you’re talking to a producer or a manager.

Subject Line: Richard Pierre Marketable Components
1. logline: A young African American woman is terrorized by a monster that can only be seen if you’re Black, and must find a way to fight back.
2. Marketable components:
Unique: It’s about an invisible monster.
Similar to Box Office success: IT FOLLOWS & THE INVISIBLE MAN
3. I can pitch my film by really refining the simplicity of my concept: it’s a creature feature with a monster that you can only see if you’re black. And, I can pitch it by referencing the success of It Follows. Furthermore, I can combine these two: WAKE UP is a creature feature with a monster that you can only see if you’re black in the vein of IT FOLLOWS.
4. What I learned doing this assignment is that I need to pitch my ideas by actively creating scripts that harness as many of the marketability components as possible.

Richard Pierre Project and Market
1. Genre: Supernatural thriller
Title: Wake Up
Concept: What if you were an African American pursued by a monster that you can only see if you’re Black?
2. I think what’s most attractive about this concept is that it’s a socially conscious high concept horror film. <div>
3. I think indie producers are the best group to target because they’re the most likely group to option the material and get the project into production. I also have dozens of contacts in my existing rolodex, many of which would potentially be well suited to partner to execute this concept.
4. What I learned today is that you should practice on low-level producers first as a test of material.

I Richard Pierre agree to the terms of this release form
GROUP RELEASE FORM
As a member of this group, I agree to the following:
1. That I will keep the processes, strategies, teleconferences, communications, lessons, and models of the class confidential, and that I will NOT share any of this program either privately, with a group, posting online, writing articles, through video or computer programming, or in any other way that would make those processes, teleconferences, communications, lessons, and models of the class available to anyone who is not a member of this class.
2. That each writer’s work here is copyrighted and that writer is the sole owner of that work. That includes this program which is copyrighted by Hal Croasmun. I acknowledge that submission of an idea to this group constitutes a claim of and the recognition of ownership of that idea.
I will keep the other writer’s ideas and writing confidential and will not share this information with anyone without the express written permission of the writer/owner. I will not market or even discuss this information with anyone outside this group.
3. I also understand that many stories and ideas are similar and/or have common themes and from time to time, two or more people can independently and simultaneously generate the same concept or movie idea.
4. If I have an idea that is the same as or very similar to another group member’s idea, I’ll immediately contact Hal and present proof that I had this idea prior to the beginning of the class. If Hal deems them to be the same idea or close enough to cause harm to either party, he’ll request both parties to present another concept for the class.
5. If you don’t present proof to Hal that you have the same idea as another person, you agree that all ideas presented to this group are the sole ownership of the person who presented them and you will not write or market another group member’s ideas.
6. Finally, I agree not to bring suit against anyone in this group for any reason, unless they use a substantial portion of my copyrighted work in a manner that is public and/or that prevents me from marketing my script by shopping it to production companies, agents, managers, actors, networks, studios or any other entertainment industry organizations or people.
This completes the Group Release Form for the class.

I’m Richard Pierre, a writer-director based in Toronto, Canada, though born in sunny California.
Thus far, I’ve crafted 18 features and I’ve been optioned once.
My hope is to learn how to market the hell out of my existing ideas before picking up the pen to write anything new. I’m excited to laser in on the right companies to take my career to the next level.
In terms of what may be unique about me, I’m a mixed-race filmmaker who’s made over a dozen award-winning shorts that have been screened at the St. Louis International Film Festival, Aesthetica Short Film Festival, Yorkton Film Festival, and over 100 other film festivals worldwide. I just finished directing 20 episodes of a true-crime TV series which airs on BET+ and Paramount+.
