    Subject line: Verena’s Characters for Horror

    I learned that this formula feels strange to apply at first but, it helps things come together quickly.

    1. Tell us your Concept and the Group you have chosen.

    B. SOCIAL EVENT: A spirituality retreat in the mountains, offers a group of lost individuals wholeness and possible death.

    2. Tell us the Dying Pattern of this movie.

    B. The characters experience the terror and survive together, but one or two die.

    3. Jenny: Rescuer, she doesn’t feel seen or enough so she always has to help others. She goes on this retreat to finally focus on herself but, ends up trying to rescue others anyway.

    Armin & Tessa: Lovers who attend the retreat to strengthen their relationship.

    Veronica: Out of control, she has no limits to when and how she will have a good time at others and her own expense.

    Kenny: The innocent, drug addict with that has not found any purpose to his adult life with a child’s mentality.

    Mike: Leader, he is noble, enthusiastic, sensible, and logical. He is resourceful and the type of straight guy who would teach yoga.

    Verena’s Terrifying Monster

    I learned the monster plays a tremendous role in the hook.

    My monster follows Shane, a handsome, charismatic, psychopathic, sadist, conman who wishes to remain in control of others for wealth and to quench his thirst for eternal life.

    Their Terror: He drugs people with what they think is ayahuasca, mushrooms, new age oils and shamanic home remedies. If he cannot control someone or they begin to see through him he enjoys punishes them.

    Isolation: The retreat is far away from any city or road traffic. He appeals to each member uniquely. If not one of his confidants will groom them. He always appears to the group and noble and trustworthy. They suspect him last. He has made considerable donations to any organizations that might investigate or meddle with his business.

    Their Mystery: When people disappear from the retreat, the rest of the members are told they were rejected or sent home.

    Their Fear Provoking Appearance: He wears a devil horns costume. He has unexpected weapons that amputate and maim with very little effort on his part.

    Their Rules: Suffering is the highest frequency the gods receive in exchange for eternal life. Once they suffer to a certain point, he loses interest and he regains their trust only to pain them again. He enjoys torturing and making those who feel un-whole regret that they didn’t accept themselves. In turn, his retreat works if they can get out of alive. But, almost no one does and so Shane continues to afford his lifestyle.

    Their Mythology: Shane was raised by a mentally ill mother who inflicted a considerable amount of suffering and rejection upon Shane whom she punished in cruel ways for scaring his father away with his strange behavior. His narcissistic tendencies allow him to love bomb his victims then offer them up to who he believes is his true father, the devil in exchange for eternal life.

    <div>I learned how to analyze Horror films from a different perspective. </div>

    Title / Concept: The Darkness, an autistic boy falls into a cavern on a family hiking trip and ancient evil spirits are welcomed to the world through him.

    Terrorize The Characters: Their neighbors dog is barking, the house smells of dead animals, faucets and doors keep opening and closing, and the boy’s sister is seeing shadows, hand prints on her bed, she is bitten, and grandma’s cat is almost killed.

    Isolation: The family doesn’t know if it is their home that is haunted.

    Death: No one is killed, it seems like the dad will sacrifice his life.

    Monster/Villain: The spirits that take over the already strange, misunderstood autistic son.

    High Tension: The family takes the boy to Grandma’s but, he tries to kill her cat.

    Departure from Reality: 3 or 4 spirits invade this person’s mind and room.

    Moral Statement:Being different can sometimes make a person unique and stronger.

    It isn’t a perfect film, but is entertaining enough.

    Concept: A spirituality, self help retreat turns out to be much more than meets the eye when those who attend must go to extreme lengths to return to wholeness until they cannot leave.<div>

    Terrorize The Characters: Some of the characters are noticing some people seem to be maimed.

    <div><div>

    Isolation: The main character goes to a desolate mountain town to attend a self help retreat along with Richard who hopes to finally quit being an addict.

    <div>

    Death: One of the addicts is sacrificed for the group to do a blood bond. One of the nights the participants witness the leader stabbing the participants that are questioning. The next morning. No one mentions and they can’t remember if what they witnessed was real.

    <div>

    Monster/Villain: Dr. nobility appears as a good person. He is actually a sadistic controller. He kills or mutilates anyone who he cannot control with his manipulation. Non-believers are killed instantly and he becomes increasingly bored with those easily controlled.

    <div>

    High Tension: Mutilation and haunting is possible in every scene.

    <div>

    Departure from Reality: It’s legal to give a facility medical power over you.

    <div>

    Moral Statement: Those who feel lost can be found by evil. Blindly following others won’t save you.

    </div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>

    Hi my name Verena Faden

    I am mainly a Commercial Producer, but have written 3 feature scripts none which I want to think about.

    I hope to stop overthinking, procrastinating and return to when writing was just fun. Also, learn more about the horror genre which I know very little about.

    After a hard day, I unwind to true crime documentaries and feature films about serial killers.
