    Ron Turowski Rom Com Project
What I learned doing this assignment is you begin to develop characters.
Starting with your concept and conventions, fill in as many blanks as possible for each lead character.
    • Who is She? A rich id from Palm Beach
    • Who is He? An ors type with good values but hides a dark side.
    • What makes them lovable? He is kind, gentle, and considerate, and she has a quirky personality that her parents suppress.
    • What attracts them to each other? Opposis attracts the chance to be free from the snob life of Palm Beach.
    • What needs does each fulfill for the other? Each on has what the other lacks in their life.

“What I learned doing this assignment is just to put an idea down to start the process.
    • Two People Who Belong Together: High School Sweethearts.
    • How Are They Separated: Boyfriend moved to a new state.
    • What Forces Them Together: Rehabilitation Camp but falls for a counselor.
    • Issues to be Resolved: her old boyfriend shows up at the camp
    • On Their Journey of Love: Trying to rekindle what they had. Some competition between the new and old boyfriend ensues.

    2. Then fill in the blanks to create your conventions. Even though some of these are the same, it is worth looking at them in the context of the conventions.
    • Experience of Falling In Love:
    • The Journey of Love: From 1st grade to high school.
    • Relationship Set-up: Reunited at camp but has moved on with her life.
    • Issues each must Resolve: Which one will she choose?
    • Separation: 5 years.
    • How Comedy Will Be Expressed: Through the Activities at Camp.

As a member of this group, I agree to the following:
    1. That I will keep the processes, strategies, teleconferences, communications, lessons, and models of the class confidential, and that I will NOT share any of this program either privately, with a group, posting online, writing articles, through video or computer programming, or in any other way that would make those processes, teleconferences, communications, lessons, and models of the class available to anyone who is not a member of this class.
    2. That each writer’s work here is copyrighted and that writer is the sole owner of that work. That includes this program which is copyrighted by Hal Croasmun. I acknowledge that submission of an idea to this group constitutes a claim of and the recognition of ownership of that idea.
I will keep the other writer’s ideas and writing confidential and will not share this information with anyone without the express written permission of the writer/owner. I will not market or even discuss this information with anyone outside this group.
    3. I also understand that many stories and ideas are similar and/or have common themes and from time to time, two or more people can independently and simultaneously generate the same concept or movie idea.
    4. If I have an idea that is the same as or very similar to another group member’s idea, I’ll immediately contact Hal and present proof that I had this idea prior to the beginning of the class. If Hal deems them to be the same idea or close enough to cause harm to either party, he’ll request both parties to present another concept for the class.
    5. If you don’t present proof to Hal that you have the same idea as another person, you agree that all ideas presented to this group are the sole ownership of the person who presented them and you will not write or market another group member’s ideas.
    6. Finally, I agree not to bring suit against anyone in this group for any reason, unless they use a substantial portion of my copyrighted work in a manner that is public and/or that prevents me from marketing my script by shopping it to production companies, agents, managers, actors, networks, studios or any other entertainment industry organizations or people.

    Title: OUTAGE

    Genre: Dystopian Comedy

An annoying millennial must team up with his soon-to-be father-in-law, an extreme survivalist, to make a cross-country journey for his wedding after an apocalyptic solar storm darkens the country.

His friends holding a high-tech glamping bachelor party are cut short when a once-in-a-lifetime event takes down the power grid. In sheer panic, he turns to his future father-in-law, asking him if he can help him make it back for the wedding.

Unanticipated challenges litter the highways and by-ways, making it virtually impossible to get through.

With militias, doomsday cultists, and lynch mobs controlling the countryside, soccer moms and farmers once neighborly is no longer, but help can come from the least expected. Can these two survive each other and make it to the wedding?

Or will the bride be alone standing at the altar?

If you like the concept of OUTAGE, I’d be happy to send you the script.
