Tom Dennis 10 Most Interesting Things about FIRE & RAIN
1. The hero is based on a real person’s story of incredible perseverance and courage…someone who is still alive and fully healed.
2. In the opening scene the hero has a serious PTSD meltdown that is shocking in its lifelike intensity.
3. The main character’s research while writing a Pearl Harbor documentary is turned on its head when he begins to get conflicting evidence from survivors and others that the whole thing may have been a gigantic set up.
4. When his nightmares and PTSD begin to spill into his daily hours, the hero’s life degenerates into a living nightmare.
5. The hero realizes he must solve the mystery of the cause of his PTSD terrors or die.
6. The major twist is not only does the hero need to discover how he died in his last life, but also WHY….in short, he needs to unravel and expose the hidden conspiracy that allowed himself and many others to be sacrificed.
7. The biggest betrayal is our hero finding out the conspiracy to allow the attack came all the way from FDR …a much-admired President who knew, yet secretly provoked and allowed the horrific attack in a move to get the US into the war.
8. His now elderly sister (and best buddy) from his previous life is still alive and our hero is able to find and poignantly reunite with her as part of his healing.
9. One of the historians who denied any cover up of Pearl Harbor is caught trying to cover up a new 911 related scandal….(and this really happened in real life).
10. It is a powerful moving and fascinating story that encompasses the deeper meanings of life…why we are here.
What I learned doing this assignment…
…is to really delve deeply into our story and find the most interesting gems that can really hook a business person’s interest. I discovered much more than I initially thought I would.

Day 3 Scott TOM Dennis Producer/Manager
1. How will you present yourself and your project to the producer?
I’ll present ourselves honestly and with great transparency.
Hooking them with short appropriate story hooks and terrific parts for the leads.
I will be listening more than talking and only talking enough to hook them into wanting to read full script.
Signaling I am a team player and will strive to meet their needs and as many of their wants as possible.
2. How will you present yourself and your project to the manager?
By being completely transparent in products offered and expectations.
Clearly sharing a desire for a manager who shares a passion for telling great stories.
Admitting our need for guidance and mentoring through the Hollywood business maze.
Sharing that we can provide a variety of unique and marketable scripts that can make a full lucrative career.
Signaling that we are open to being coachable and flexible.
3. “What I learned today…. is that producers and managers have unique needs despite having some overlap. A producer may be primarily looking for a one off great project while a manager is looking for how he can hitch to a quality writer with a lucrative career path.

Scott TOM Dennis’s Marketable Components
1. Current logline:
When a brilliant yet deeply troubled documentary writer uncovers compelling proof of FDR’s hidden strategy that allowed Pearl Harbor, it leads to the shocking discovery that he was one of the individuals sacrificed there in his previous life.
Marketing components: 2 with most potential for selling this script.
1. Based on a True Story. 2. Has a great role for a bankable actor.
Brainstorm : TRUE STORY
A) The story is absolutely true based on someone we know and their life story recovering deep mental illness/PTSD trauma through uncovering the truth about what led to their previous life’s demise.
B) We were able to secure the full rights and their blessing to tell their uniquely powerful and poignant story.
GREAT ROLE
A) the lead role is a true tour-de-force part… It gives the young lead actor a chance to embody a huge range of powerful emotions and situations… From the deepest despair to profound healing…and tempered with a wicked sense of humor…with several unique supporting parts to play off of.
What I learned doing this assignment:
I discovered that our story already has two very powerful built-in business hooks…And I’m looking forward to developing our pitch to highlight these in the best way possible.

Scott “TOM” Dennis – FIRE AND RAIN – Actors Production companies
TITLE: FIRE AND RAIN
GENRE: A Psychological Mystery Thriller
Attractive points:
FIRE & RAIN is based entirely on a recent powerfully moving True Story. It’s a story of forgiveness and deep healing set against a sweeping subplot of true historical intrigue, cover-ups and deception. It’s highly attractive to both women (for the inner story) and men for the intrigue of exposing a major historical cover-up.
Target Audience: Actor’s Production companies…because of the extremely juicy roles for several actors, both male and female.
What I learned today: To really explore the essence of our story and what makes it attractive…and who might have the highest interest in producing it.

Greeting Classmates!
My name is Scott “TOM” Dennis and I’ve written quite a few produced childrens TV science show scripts, adult documentaries, and 2 as of yet unproduced features.
I hope to learn how best to find and market our main feature script to those who will actually produce it while I am still alive and kicking.
I’m a long term <nobr style=”font-size: inherit”>cancer</nobr> survivor who has been on a 99% raw food <nobr style=”font-size: inherit”>vegetarian diet</nobr> for the majority of my life. I’m still here.
