    Steve – Producer/Manager

My answer for how I will present myself to a producer or manager is the same. I understand that film is collaborative art form and I am willing to work with other professionals (Producer, Managaer or Director) to accomplish the end goal, get my script turned into a marketable film. My screenplay is merely a starting point that needs to be evolved into a marketable product and I am willing to support that effort in any way that I can.

    Stephen Joubert – Marketable Components

Logline: In 1977, when the NYPD closes the case of her mother’s disappearance, 16 year-old Lizzy begins her own search for her mother, thrusting her into the midst of a battle for control of the Irish mob, which may utltimately hold the answer to her mother’s fate.

Timely First – Sister Lizzy shows two women competeing for control of an all-male mob syndicate. It is a truely female driven story that delivers on one of Hollywood’s biggest trends.

Great Role – The role of Lizzy’s advisor, Anne, is written for a sixty something black actress. Sister Anne is a nun who seems traditional on the surface but is in reality a very well connected woman.

Through this assignment I a learning to look at my story through the lens of what will sell.

    Title: Sister Lizzy

    Genre: Drama

Concept: In 1977, when the NYPD closes the case of her mother’s disappearance, 16 year-old Lizzy begins her own search for her mother, thrusting her into the midst of a battle for control of the Irish mob, which may ultimately hold the answer to her mother’s fate.

    2. This coming of age story, features a young woman who is transformed by the violent world of the Irish mob.

    3. I will target producers first because it makes sense to me to find a producing partner who will partner with me to get this script produced.

    4. I’ve always known that pitching is about selling and not about spewing out as many story details as you can. I’m starting to learn how to incorporate marketability into a pitch.

    Hi everyone,

I’m Stephen Joubert. I got a degree in film production 30 years ago and worked in the business as a PA an then a cameraman. I left the business to raise a family. When I got divorced 3 years ago I decided to get back in as a writer.

I wrote my first feature length screenplay when I was 13 years old and I must have written about a dozen scripts in total.

I’ve always looked at “the business” as a business that deals in art. That is reinforced, having spent the past 25 years in the software development world. I want to better understand the art/business relationship and leverage that information to sell screenplays.

I run my own software consulting business. We specialize is in secure, highly scalable, enterprise software. In addition to having been a cameraman I have also been a dog trainer in New York City. I am a published author on the subject of canine aggression and for a brief period I operated my own bakery.
