What I’ve learned: The process is similar to opening the door as a job developer for people with disabilities, so that is the good news. Yet, marketing for myself has always been a weaker area for me and it will take all the preparation I can conduct to feel confident.
Hi. I’m Tricia Tribble and Addictive just won as a Finalist in the Cordillera International Film Fest. Can I run a sci-fi horror pitch by you?
I found you through some of my favorite movies that match my genre.
Before a brilliant scientist can prevent the further deterioration of earth’s resources in an immortal society, she must first survive the ancient evil Seth and his reality show reintroducing death.
What is the budget range? Middle $15-30 million
What actors do you like for the lead roles? Seth – Jeff Bridges, Tacy – Sierra Capri, Violet – Helen Mirren, Forest – Finn Wolfhard
Give me the acts of the story.
Act 1-The world is immortal, resources are dwindling and everyone looks 25 years old, with three exceptions. Tacy is fired from her job just as she is implementing worldwide pollution and resource solutions. In distress, she returns to an old vice of cutting on herself, which places her into the game. An antique ship is the location within a virtual cruise and is filled with addicts and temptations. The audience, via 3-D hover cameras, includes active gamblers as everyone can smell, feel and experience the drama as death is reintroduced.
Act 2 – An addict support team is built by Tacy, to help each other overcome the temptations despite the intrusions, losses, and constant hover cameras. A show addicted gambler is sent to the ship in disgrace to take his chances. Faced with no chance of winning, the Addict Outliers only option is to escape. They realize if they don’t fight back, they won’t survive.
Act 3 – The team, plus a few guards, puts together a plan to escape and kill Seth who goes into the water broiling with hungry mutated dolphins. But the plan changes when Seth’s sidekick wants to stay in charge. So the plan changes on-the-fly as the Outliers decide to take over the ship and maintain the verisimilitude and status quo with their tech expert. In this way they can hide and save civilization in plain sight.
How does it end? (setup / payoff). Meeting her old team again months later, Tacy is happy and pregnant. The first in over 75 years.
Roger worked in a science think-tank and Tricia comes from a career helping people with disabilities. Addictive also just won as a Semi-Finalist at the Geneva Science Fiction International Film Festival where the winner got to tour the Hadron Collider which would have been cool.
Hi. I’m Tricia Tribble and Baking Bad 1968 won Honorable Mention of the Los Angeles International Film Festival last year. Can I run a TV dramedy pitch by you?
I found you through some of my favorite TV shows that match our genre.
Two sisters, one a high school Home EC teacher and the other a college student, burn their bras as their men-friends burn their draft cards during the violent, creative and transformational 60’s. They sing and prance about while baking and selling gourmet Mary Jane brownies out of an old pink food truck.
What is the budget range? Low budget: $500k to $5 million
What actors do you like for the lead roles? Reba – Dakota Fanning and Margie – Elle Fanning
Give me the acts of the story.
Act 1 – Reba, a Home EC teacher in an unhappy marriage, is asked to help her sister’s college friends raise money by teaching them how to make gourmet brownies.
Act 2 – Reba, Margie and the college student’s wanting to replace their roof, become very successful. They paint an old food truck pink, bake in Berkeley Hills and sell downtown and at the university.
Act 3 – In the midst of some male student’s being called to service in Vietnam, Reba and Margie are found out and chased. The police offer them a deal; provide brownies for a wife with cancer and they will receive protection.
How does it end? (setup / payoff). The sister’s don’t know what protection might mean, and how to keep the secret from Reba’s masochist husband.

Hi. I’m Tricia Tribble and The Dark One was an Official Selection of the Santa Barbara International Film Fest last year. Can I run a horror pitch by you?
I found you through some of my favorite horror movies.
The child, of a violent mentally ill mother, transforms with her shadow into a force helping children and critters.
What is the budget range? Low budget: $500k to $5 million (depending on how to portray The Dark One and it has the potential to be a micro-budget)
What actors do you like for the lead roles? Luci – Jamie Lee Curtis and Joy – a young Isabelle Fuhrman
Give me the acts of the story.
Act 1 – The child is badly hurt and the mother arrested. The child, in a coma, merges with her shadow to help other abused children with Luci’s very smart crow friend Rascal.
Act 2 – The child wakes and doesn’t remember anything. She is not allowed to live with Luci, her elderly neighbor, the only kind person she has ever known. So she is placed into a foster home, but The Dark One wants to be remembered and sends her dreams which turn into nightmares.
Act 3 – Joy spends so much time at Luci’s home, she is finally allowed to stay legally. Joy creates comic books of her childhood adventures thinking they are fiction, but she kind of starts to recognizes people and critters she helped. The animals remember her as she recognizes them and finally she is able to merge with The Dark One. They visit predators and take them to their greatest fears with a choice to stay or return as a light giver. Joy becomes a local celebrity with her comic books.
How does it end? (setup / payoff). With The Dark One as a superhero, Joy becomes a local celebrity as a comic book writer.

What I learned: Be prepared to present what I would want to know if as if I were making a big purchase which is to get past any glitz, and get to the bones. I did this on the fly, but will get focused and fine tune this valuable assignment.

ADDICTIVE
High Concept – A dystopian cyberpunk story that sets immortal Outliers against their darkest addictions in a reality game show for survival.
Elevator Pitch – Children and parents are indistinguishable as everyone one appears 25. Births are outlawed, retirement doesn’t exist, earth’s resources are almost gone and pollution has taken over. A brilliant immortal scientist has discovered a way to reverse earth’s deterioration. To do so she must first survive the reality show by an ancient evil named Seth, who uses chaos to distract the population as he reintroduces death during the newest reality show.
If you like the concept, we’d be happy to send you the script.

Addictive
High Concept –A dystopian cyberpunk story that sets immortal Outliers against their darkest addictions in a reality game show for survival.
Elevator Pitch-Addictive is a Sci-fi Horror and a 2023 Finalist for the Cordillera and Semi-Finalist for the Geneva Sci-Fi International Film Fests.
Before a brilliant immortal can put her plan into action which would alter earth’s deterioration, she must survive a reality show by an ancient Evil. Seth would rather distract the populace by reintroducing death…especially to those who oppose him.
Baking Bad-1968
High Concept–Married to a chauvinist pig, a Home Economics teacher finds feminism while helping her sister and friends make and sell gourmet magic brownies in Berkeley.
Elevator Pitch–Two sisters burn their bras as their men-friends burn their draft cards during the violent, creative and transformational 60’s while singing, baking and selling gourmet Mary Jane brownies.
The Dark One
High Concept–A child of a violent mentally ill mother, becomes a force to help and protect children and critters of abuse until she wakes from her coma.
Elevator Pitch–A child integrates her shadow side and saves innocents. This little girl makes predators face their greatest fears and are given the choice to stay in their personal hell or become better.
What I learned–I really like how this is changing my perspective on the scripts. I am looking at them from a different perspective, not the creative blood, sweat and tears that wring my heart.

1. To find your main hook, tell us what the big picture explanation of your lead character’s journey is.
Baking Bad 1968

1. To find your main hook, tell us what the big picture explanation of your lead character’s journey is.
A Nobel prize winner is fired and removed at the moment she is to implement the world-wide holistic environmental solution for the self-destructing world of immortals, and then placed in a survival reality game of addicts.
2. How can you tell it in the most interesting way possible?
Dilemma – Survive extreme loss and not use her go-to by cutting herself or she is dead. Next, implement the solution to save the world resources and reverse the pollution of the world.

· A. What is most unique about your villain and hero?
Protagonists–The sisters are the transition into early feminism. Unfulfilled Reba, despite her baking talent, is married and lives a traditional life. Margie lives in a mixed housing cooperative while in college has a career goal of becoming an RN.
Antagonist-Police Officer Stan is attractive, and wants access to Mary Jane brownies for his ill wife.
· B. Major hook of your opening scene?
o The Pink Food truck is plummeting over the hills of Berkeley trying to avoid the police.
· C. Any turning points?
o Reba’s students want to follow in her footsteps. The realization hits her, and she tries to open up other possibilities for them.
· D. Emotional dilemma?
o Vietnam and burning draft cards.
o Feminism and burning bras.
o Reba worrying about losing her job for making brownies with ‘mary jane.’
o medical help through pot.
· E. Major twists?
o Police will protect them for the brownies, but for how long?
· F. Reversals?
o Police chasing them, but to purchase the gourmet brownies for the wife of the policeman rather than arresting them.
· G. Character betrayals?
o Not yet.
· H. Or any big surprises?
o The pink food truck sells magic brownies.
. Make a list of any other things in your script that could interest a producer.
House is full of musicians with a few soon to be famous crash on their couch.
UC Security employee lives in the cooperative house.
The pot head gets drafted.
Co-op Housing friend chem nerd is a TA on campus; Margie is in his class.
3. Organize both and select the 10 most interesting things. Post those to the forums.
Following one’s dream after making a bad life decision.
Pink food truck chase above U.C. Berkeley and over the hills.
Democracy – Vietnam similar to current Ukraine.
Feminism – Burning bras, but still an ongoing issue with sisters approaching it from different angles.
Sisters’ relationship.
Role model as a teacher and wanting student to find their own dreams.
Folk and rock and roll musicians in house and visiting.
Fear of Reba’s husband reaction to if arrested and work related ramifications.
Loss of teaching job, career standing and student’s respect by helping sister by baking as a loved ability.
How to escape an unfulfilled marriage and finding the money to make it happen without losing one’s soul.
4. Answer the question “What I learned doing this assignment is…?” and post it at the top of your work.
Perspective. I always overexplain when I talk about my projects, and this assignment helps me take a step away from the emotional and to the marketable. How to center myself and identify a different perspective is an important skill set.
-
How will you present yourself and your project to the producer?
I will do whatever it takes to get the movie made, ask questions to clarify changes and be thankful for the opportunity.
How will you present yourself and your project to the manager?
The strange thing is, I am semi-retired and don’t want to write or follow other people’s ideas anymore or stay in a particular genre. Although I started this process thinking that I wanted a manager, I am not interested in a long-term career and what that means. If I had a meeting with a manager, I would be hopeful, but clear so that they don’t waste their time. If I found an exceptional manager, I would move heaven and earth for their help.
3. Answer the question “What I learned today is…?”
Thank you. This was huge for me. I am tired of wasting time and am looking forward to the end of the strike and getting our (husband’s and my) honed scripts out into the world.

Baking Bad – 1968
Married to a chauvinist pig, a Berkeley, California, Home Economics teacher finds feminism while helping her sister and friends make and sell gourmet magic brownies.
A. Unique. Increase of democratic feminism (since obtaining the vote) and culinary cannabis.
*B. Great Title Yes. Positive response.
C. True. No.
* D. Timely — the story is connected to some
major trend or event. Shades of Vietnam (Ukraine) war and democracy, feminism which continues to be an issue, acceptance of cannabis in our society to the level or gourmet.E. It’s a first. Not really.
F. Ultimate. No.
G. Wide audience appeal. Yes. Women, democracy/war (Ukraine) and cannabis gourmands.
H. Adapted from a popular book. No.
* I. Similarity to a box-office
success. Inspired by Breaking Bad.* J. A great role for a bankable
actor. Yes.Reba: A meticulous Home EC teacher who leads a daring escape in a pink food truck. She balances her dutiful role as a wife to Merle with a hidden, adventurous side. Her expertise in baking drives the narrative.
Margie: Reba’s younger sister, a carefree hippie. Her spontaneity and boldness compliment Reba’s cautious nature.
What I learned–Simplify and touch on what creates emotional interest.

Horror – The Dark One
The coma victim, of a mentally ill mother, becomes a force to help and protect children and critters of abuse.
A child integrates her shadow side and saves innocents. This little girl makes predators face their greatest fears and gives them a choice to stay in their personal hell or become better.
Sci-Fi Horror – Addictive
A dystopian cyberpunk story that sets immortal Outliers against their darkest addictions in a reality game show for survival.
Children and parents are indistinguishable as everyone one looks 25 when they receive immortality. Births are outlawed, work contracts are forever, retirement doesn’t exist, and resources are almost gone. The giver of immortality now takes on the governmental goal of lowering the population through entertainment. Among his victims is a Nobel prize winning environmentalist.
Dramady -Baking Bad-1968
Married to a chauvinist pig, a Home Economics teacher finds feminism while helping her sister and friends make and sell gourmet magic brownies in Berkeley.
Two sisters burn their bras as some of their men-friends burn their draft cards during the violent, creative and transformational 60’s.
Target–Manager
I have a lot to learn and would prefer to be coached, especially after the strike. A manager that would work with me, receives payment and therefore has an interest in being forthright. An agent is usually just there per movie script, and I wouldn’t know what I did wrong, only that the door is closed.
What I learned today and during my last festival was to streamline the description. The finalist was Addictive, but during the pitches it was Baking Bad 1968 that got responses during the 5-minute pitches. I also got an idea to strengthen one of my stories.

Hi guys!
1) My name is Tricia Tribble and currently reside in Reno, NV.
2) I have written three trash scripts, which I value as part of my learning process. But seriously I have three close-to-marketable scripts, two shorts and one TV pilot script.
3) Most of my focus has been learning how to write. It is time to move to the next stage. I am not very good at marketing myself, although can market other people and projects with ease. I need this.
4) We all my look normal, but at the same time are full of weird and wonders. Hum. I am an award-winning jewelry artist and costumer (workmanship) using an ancient Egyptian jewelry-making as my signature technique.
