    Tracy Fleming’s big M.I.S.

What did I learn during this assignment? I learned that I have a million ideas and I just have to commit to one and get started.

    1. What are the conventions of your story?

    Unwitting but
Resourceful Hero: Tess, the leader of a team of intelligence agents from around the world.

    Dangerous
Villain: Tess’s mentor who is responsible for the global attacks using environmental disasters

High stakes: Will the team be able to discover who is behind the attacks in time before a tsunami is detonated?

    Life and death
situations: Floods, hurricanes, fires, and droughts are taking place around the world. Killing millions.

    This story is
thrilling because? It’s a constant cat and mouse game to see if the team can catch the person or organization behind the attacks.

    2. Tell us the Big M.I.S. of your story?

    Big Mystery:
What is the main mystery of your story that will keep us wondering
throughout the story? Who is masterminding the creation of environmental disasters? Why are they targeting places around the world?

    Big Intrigue:
What is the covert, clandestine, underhanded plot that will live under the
surface for most of the movie? The disasters occur in places where there are materials the villain needs for the creation of nanobiotech that will be used to essentially clone individuals. It is used to give new identities to criminals.

    Big Suspense:
What is the main danger to your Hero that will continue to escalate
throughout the script? The main danger will be how Tess and the team finds out who is behind the attacks. She has to keep from being blinded by her devotion to her former mentor.

What I learned doing this assignment is when you analyze a movie into its parts, it’s not so intimidating. Everything is clearer.

    Mission Impossible 1

Unwitting but Resourceful Hero: Ethan Hunt – his team is killed and he has to

Dangerous Villain: Job- has killed IMF teams and will get the NOC list and execute agents

High stakes: Get the disk back of all the agents’ identifies will be discovered

Life and death situations: The team is killed, Ethan is on the run for his life

This movie is thrilling because? – It always keeps you guessing – high action – contains suspense, mystery, intrigue, betrayal, tension, and twists.

Big Mystery: Who framed Ethan and who wants the NOC list?

Big Intrigue: Phelps aka Job wants to frame the IMF team and steal the NOC list to sell to Max

Big Suspense: Will Phelps discover Ethan is on to him? Can Ethan prove his innocence and unmask the mole.

    Hi!

I’m Tracy Nelson Fleming and I’ve written one full script several years ago. I joined the class because I’ve always had an idea for a spy thriller and I want to actually write it. I’m hoping to learn the thriller map and how to apply it to various ideas. I’m a teacher and worked and lived in China, South Korea and Hong Kong from 2015-2020.

    Good to meet everyone 🙂

    4. If I have an idea that is the same as or very similar to another group member’s idea, I’ll immediately contact Hal and present proof that I had this idea prior to the beginning of the class. If Hal deems them to be the same idea or close enough to cause harm to either party, he’ll request both parties to present another concept for the class.

    5. If you don’t present proof to Hal that you have the same idea as another person, you agree that all ideas presented to this group are the sole ownership of the person who presented them and you will not write or market another group member’s ideas.

    6. Finally, I agree not to bring suit against anyone in this group for any reason, unless they use a substantial portion of my copyrighted work in a manner that is public and/or that prevents me from marketing my script by shopping it to production companies, agents, managers, actors, networks, studios or any other entertainment industry organizations or people.

This completes the Group Release Form for the class.
